BioShock Infinite

All of the vigors are good. From what I've read here, many people used different ones. I think it's a product of trying and liking/getting used to a couple and sticking with them. I loved Murder of Crows and Possession. Then I switched to Murder of Crows and Shock Jockey. Hell, I never even used some of the others. They would have been perfectly viable though.

Yeah, on future playthroughs I will probably try using some of the other ones more. The real issue is that you get the last three or so more than halfway through the game.

I did start using the Untertow one more near the end...pushing the heavy guys over the edge and not having to fight them is pretty nice.

What exactly is the season pass for in this game?
Been too busy to play/buy this, but thats making me hesitate on actually going through with it.
I'll probably pick it up on a sale, regardless....

I think it's a few bonus items and a discounted price on the 3 upcoming DLC releases.

The Infinite storyline actually allows for them to do a crapton of DLC with their own spins off of the main plot arch. I think it should get very interesting & might even thow in some gameplay with Rapture.

Hmm...
This is the future of gaming huh?
Maybe I'll wait for a directors cut. Don't have time right now anyway....

Holy shit, I swear to god I have never seen this gameplay footage before until now... and just as I had wished in my previous post, low and behold the player controlling dewitt bronco's some foes and has Elizabeth summon a train! And low and behold we do not have any of that in the final product. Crazy shit.

This latest footage seems to have the retail version's updated "graphics" style, although I prefer the style of the 2010 video you posted, looks better IMO.

is her rack bigger or more busty in this version?

After finishing the game and the small tie-in with Rapture, I can't help but want the original Bioshock redone in the new engine.

I agree, especially seeing how much better looking the Rapture area was during the last segment of the game

That'd be hot although Bioshock has aged very well.

Well, I actually have been playing the original a bit and I can't really agree. An HD texture makeover could do a lot for it alone, but it's pretty noticeably old and some of the textures are REALLY bad.

my buddy was playing granted it was on the console ( he rented it after i beat it and was talkin it up ) and bioshock 1 was on the disc too.. some of the textures were pretty funny

I mean, lets be honest here, if this game was in production since 2007/2008 than that would be pretty sad considering what we ended up getting. I've seen game mod teams with a fraction of the people, time, and budget (if any) come out with nicer looking and playing games than this one.

Hahaha. You're hilarious. Please tell me a Modder that has released a game that is better than BI.

I'll wait.

did you guys make the big daddy, little sister / songbird, elizabeth connection?

I would never equate what a CGI trailer is to the actual game. That's just silly. Nothing we're show in CGI trailers provides a realistic interpretation. Case in point - the Starcraft 2 stuff

a trailer for a game showing footage not in the game at all is silly...it's pretty much false advertising...or at the very least they could show rendered footage of scenes similar to ones in the actual game...showing Elizabeth in a noose about to be hanged was nothing close to anything that was in the actual game...it's not a big deal to me but I'm just pointing it out

In regards to that...
Could DeWitt, Comstock & Songbird all be the same "being" from different dimensions/timelines?

I actually thought maybe that was the case long before the game ended, that DeWitt was somehow the Songbird or that his soul was driving it. Sadly it was never explained or even really hinted at as to who or what the Songbird was. Maybe they'll expand on it in DLC...? I'm actually really excited about DLC. Glad I pre-ordered the Season Pass

There's a voxophone where Fink explains that he's got a "rift" into another world from where he's getting all his cool tech. I subscribe to the idea that he created Songbird, possibly by getting the tech from some other "Bioshock" world. So Songbird is this world's "big daddy". IIRC the existance of Vigors is explicitly explained in that voxophone.

See, that's why I was somewhat annoyed with how difficult and time-consuming getting some of the voxophones was. You can miss some really key story elements by not spending hours wandering around and backtracking to find them. Don't get me wrong, having collectibles that actually contribute to the game in a meaningful way are great, but I feel like some of the key story ones could have been easier to find.

I guess what I'm getting at is I spent a lot of time exploring and I don't recall ever finding that particular one.

The following block spoils the contents of the three Fink voxophones related to him using rifts.

"I had thought you a fool, dear brother. When you told me that you heard wonderful music trumpeting from holes in the thin air, I began to doubt your mental integrity. But not only have you made your fortune from these doodads, you have lit the path for me as well." -- Changing My Tune

"These holes have shown me yet another wonder, though I’ve yet to see the application for it. They illuminate a merger of machine and man that is somehow the lesser, yet the greater, of both parties. The process seems to be irreversible. Perhaps, though, Comstock will have some need of this kind of thing to keep watch in that tower he is building." -- A Child Needs a Protector

Could be Songbird, could be Handymen... but we know what watches the tower and protects the child.

"Dear brother, these holes in the thin air continue to pay dividends. I know not which musician you borrow your notes from, but if he has half the genius of the biologist I now observe, well...then you are to be the Mozart of Columbia." -- Out of the Thin Air

Doesn't explicitly mention vigors (like I remembered it), but ...

I'm still confused as to how to see how many voxophones I currently have collected...people are listing numbers like 74/80 but I don't see where to find this number

AFAIK the only way you can know is when you see it pop up in the corner after you grab one. It says xx/80 or whatever. I think I got like 60 something maybe, not sure.

I have an answer to that. Behind one of those three voxophones is a chart with blueprints for the songbird. It's explicitly about songbird. Handymans creation is a apparently an accidently when trying to save some guys life according the stage announcer when he's first introduced. That's how I heard it anyway.

guess I wasn't paying attention as I never saw that # pop up...when I pick up a vox I'm usually looking at the name of the person who recorded it on the screen...even the auto-save message was not very clear in the beginning until I got used to it

I agree. I used to wonder why the hell they bother making these trailers that don't even show gameplay...

Then i noticed that it actually does convince retard-people to go buy games.

Well I mean it is a nice looking commercial.

Right. It's not for "real" gamers. It's for everyone else.

Well I mean it is a nice looking commercial.

Indeed.

And actually, given that they show the handyman in there I wish there were more handyman battles in the game. I think there were like, 3 total? Should have been more, those were the most fun IMO.

Because real gamers are a special breed of people.

There's a reason commercials are up-beat and full of action and explosions. The wow factor counts.

If the commercials were geared towards REAL gamers, there'd be mentions of virginity (can't NOT mention this one), blatant idiocy, bitching, and jokes that only made sense to 3 people in the world.

agreed...the game is good enough to stand on its own so why not show that off?...lots of epic parts in Infinite to put in a nice commercial...that's like a movie trailer showing scenes that aren't in the movie

EDIT: there are actually a lot of movie trailers that show footage that is not in the movie but that's mostly because the footage was edited out later on...with game trailers that is not the case as the trailer for Infinite I saw was airing a few days before the game's release date

They always are.

Correct. Gamers usually care about gameplay and thus typically want gameplay as the reason for buying a game, no?

That's fine. IN A REVIEW ONLINE. Not a commercial that tries to sell something with flash and pizzazz.
