Has there ever been a BF game where the planes were not OP? Just saying. For those of us that have zero flying skill jumping in a plane is just a waste of a plane I'm much better off in a Flak gun or mobile AA.

I played BF a few years back, BF3 I think it was, and they were OP if you knew what you were doing. Most people didn't have a clue. From what I gathered, to fly properly you needed a controller. M/K was impossible. I got the hang of helicopters, but planes were a no go.

Sucks. As much as I hate EA, the Battlefield series seems like the go-to game for MP FPS. Maybe when I build my computer this Spring I'll get it for short money.

Harsh IGN review I was going to pick it up but I though with shooters until a modern one come out or something innovative.

There is not another decent replacement IMHO and the BF4 server list is getting shorter. I'm going to keep playing.. frustrating as the game itself is at times. There are already wayyy too many lvl 50 players and if I wait too long the equipment and perk disparity would drive me more nuts than it already is. Empty my mag in 3rnd burts does not kill.. but the lvl50 turns and hip fires full auto at range and I'm dead. Awesum. It's the normal BF equipment grind. I just need to find the right server and best map and mode to grind out the gear. In BF4 the 1200 ticket Metro maps were a godsend for unlocking gear and getting the grind out of the way fast. With the current state of BF5 and the server browser useless as tits on a bull (no favorites list .. seriously EA?) I can see this grind is going to take longer than usual.

It's pretty much a choice not to fly bombers now because of how much they can dominate. The fighters are way more difficult because they're cracked-out versions of what you think they should be, though.

Every new Battlefield, people gripe about XYZ being "OP" - usually it's just whatever is killing them. Some of it is nonsense, some of it is legit and DICE makes balance adjustments to make the common denominator (infantry-only) players happy. Every. Battlefield.

The asymmetry - the combined arms aspect - has always been the draw for me, but there's always a contingent of players that won't be happy until every unit is equal, skill curves are flattened to a pancake, vehicles and aircraft are dumbed down with controls for a five year old, and everything can 1v1 everything.

In BF2/BC2/BF3/BF4 if a particular weapon/vehicle/aircraft seemed like it was killing me a lot or wrecking my team almost unopposed, I enjoyed the challenge and learning curve of getting better at that thing, to be able to counter it. I realize this is not the attitude of many players.

The guns are not the same. I just run over squads with the Lewis gun. Last night I was averaging a 3 kdr as infantry with it. Not camping either. I go right into people with it. Really just comes down to having a big clip and making good shots though. I like this game if only bc it rewards good aim more now.

The other thing people don't consider in their first 2-3 hours when they decide they know everything, is that the game isn't balanced for a brand new player/soldier, but rather toward once you've already broken the game in. That means getting unlocks (controversial as that may be, I never saw them as anything but fun) and figuring out counters to stuff. In other words don't expect to strongarm a tank 1v1 right out of the gate and then declare the game broken and tanks OP when you're blown into pizza toppings.

If bombers are still a nuisance once the game reaches homeostasis and a few weeks have gone by then guaranteed they'll nerf it - they monitor backend stats.

Sidenote, I'm convinced that if DICE had remastered BF2 on modern Frostbite and released it now, people would lose their minds at all the "OP" stuff that was just accepted in BF2 originally. Gamers have a different mentality these days.

fps seems worse than the beta. in the beta I was getting 90 fps with medium settings at 1440p. now I'm getting 60-70. its kinda hard to play cause I'm use to getting 100+ in the games I normally play. I was thinking of getting a 1080 ti, which should get 30 more fps. but that still would barely get me to 100 fps, and I'd still be stuck on med settings.

edit: just watched a video with someone playing at 1440p on ultra settings with a 1070 like me and they are getting 70-80 fps on ultra, wtf. thats the fps I was expecting to get.

Mine does the same thing when I use the server browser. I just hit play, then mp, then conquest.

If you haven’t yet, hit the ‘reset all’ button (or however it’s phrased) on the server list menu. Then filter for CQ.

Different opinions and all that...I feel like every assault weapon is great. It’s the only class that i feel powerful with regardless of which weapon I choose.

I can tell you alot of people play on Big Monitors so they can see you in the distance better so iron sights is easier. Snipers that is tricky it really isn't fair to have someone kill your character when you have no idea where the fire is coming from while in prone position as well. Good Luck I'm not going to get this game I hardly even played Battlefront 2 when I bought it on sale last year and I thought it was a pretty fun game.

^^ This. I think a nice hardcore server will "fix" most of the issues I have. Was on one of the conquest desert maps last night.. assault using Turner SMLE (lvl 10) and a 2x scope. See a guy laying next to a rock not too far off. Go prone and put 1 in his brain bucket... he gets up and starts running to the left. I lead his run and get 2 more center mass hits as he runs.... no kill? Game is just a lil too arcade mode for me right now. The headshot should have killed the target... the 2 hits as he ran should have killed the target. I really don't care much for the cash register popping up as I hit someone either.. much more gratifying to just see the fucker dead than the point total I ring up as the target hopps around and I plink them like an amusement park target.

As it is right now.. a lvl50 with a LMG hipfiring ranged is gawd in this game. The only cure is to grind out the levels and unlocks to get some parity.. for EA it's mission accomplished as you need to spend endless hours in the game earning cc bux.. unlocks and perks.

I wish they would go back to something more similar to the BC2 model which was at least east to navigate and track progress. Their "new" interface sucks green donkey dicks. Too many clicks to do simple shit.

people need to defend flags. most everyone runs from flag to flag. and then theres a big chaotic clusterfuck of a fight. what seems like 80% of the server in that area.

The guns suck yes, but when you are in a group of skilled players, the best squad I ever had was full support, we could nade spam and take down tanks without issue, needless to stay I stuck with those guys until about 2 am and passed out the other day.

I prefer the Lewis Gun but have been doing the assignments with the KE7, its fine 1v1 but the second you have 2 or 3 guys you're fucked instantly.

I figured out my reason for low fps. it was future frame rendering set to off in the advanced settings. it basically capped my gpu usage to 70% and lowered my fps by 30. however when running in dx12 mode, that setting on or off did not cause the issue.

The future frame rendering setting has no effect in DX12 from what I understand.

IMHO you are going to see less teamplay until everyone gets closer to lvl 50. The lower lvl weapons suck ass minus all the perks and unlocks. When it takes 3+ hits to klll anything you really need the guns with a high rate of fire to be accurate.. you don't get that for some time. I believe many have found the same to be true as a lot of the players are simply doing their dailys and such to get fuggin CC and upgrade their shit. I'm too accustomed to hardcore where controlled bursts are the way to go. The state of the game now is to just keep shooting until you run outta ammo... if you can hit 4 r 5 times you might get a kill. But the lvl 50 hipfiring has a better chance of hitting you ranged at full auto than you have using a 3x scope aimed. I'm resigned to grinding out the lvls and gear now.. fuck teamplay.. thats what EA wants by design. Spend your life in our game or you'll have a miserable experience.

I get pushed squad leader just about every game, and everyone runs wherever they want. the best squads are the ones you make. if you find good players then add them to your friends list.

Of course squad play makes a difference... nice to have 3 guys who can revive you every 30 seconds. ;p If EA ever pulls it's head out and starts adds a favorites list for servers that might help. Right now high rate of fire, a large magazine and hipfire are it... spray and pray is the name of the game.

I was going to grind each class to 20 starting with assault... stopped yesterday at lvl 17 I think. Switched to support and grabbed a KE7 and am pretty good at mowing people down. The 1x-1.25x sights all suck... retardedly so IMHO. They all block way too much FOV and are difficult to see through.. the actual "bullseye" is way too thick. I've gone iron sights and it's much better for me.

Bombers still wreck every map they are on... you get some numbnutz flying circles going 50+-0. AA needs to be much stronger. Had a bomber on Navarik fly right at me yesterday... dead level... unloaded into his cockpit till the AA overheated.. all hits.. he flew off and repaired. Simply inexcusable to have the AA so weak and the bombers do so much dang dmg.

Soo I'll be grinding to 50 as support probably.

There are no favorites bc they are all ea servers ATM. Matchmaking does a good job getting me low ping servers but I want private servers back. I miss my section 8 and the others. Kind of like going to a bar.
