Odd. I didn't get into the alpha but got a free game code.

I wasn't in the alpha and was sent the free code automatically a couple of days after pre-ordering.
 
I didn't participate in the Alpha either and received a code a couple days after registering for gun club. As I mentioned a few posts above, the code I received did not work for BF3 but after speaking to Live Chat like WorldExclusive suggested they gave me another code which worked.

Odd that they'd suddenly change policies. I wouldn't give up though, I'd initiate another chat session and hopefully you'll speak with someone else more willing to accommodate you.

So how long did you have to wait? I registered a new account a few days ago.
 
I don't remember honestly. I wasn't really expecting to get anything but I figured what the heck and registered. I completely forgot about it when I recevied the email for 25% off. I know it was less than a week between the time I registered and received the promo code.

False. The free game is for anyone who pre-ordered and the 25% code is for EA Gun Club members.
Chat with them again. Everyone there isn't as knowledgeable about policies and products. Tomorrow when the normal staff is there you may have better luck.

I just got my gun club code a few days ago and it does NOT work for BF3.

I'm a Battlefield fan. At this point, the only thing that will "please" me is NEW footage/screenshots/info from the game. More of the same isn't pleasing, but that's what this conference is looking like. :(
 
Well, I managed to get a 20% off coupon, whatev. Good enough. Pre-ordered. And I guess I'll get a free game too? That's what the guy on the phone told me. But he also told me they can't give me a replacement code but the person on live chat gave me 20% off. Glad to see everyone there is on the same page :rolleyes:

Same. I made a new account on EA Gun Club and what seems like a week later got the email. I assumed it didnt work with BF3 cause everyone on here has said as much, so i emailed them and the response was hilarious. Essentially the person said nothing, they were empty words, it was the weirdest email ever. I then hit reply and sent a email saying i want a code, the Gun Club one doesnt work and i want a code (was more forceful) and in response i got a 20% off code that i will now give to my friend.
 
Just view the cdkey from Steam and use that to activate on Origin. If it doesn't let you, you can try live chat.

I am a born-again believer in EA Chat Support.

It really depends on who you get, but wow this last session was the most helpful I have ever experienced.
 
gamescom streaming vid of new bf3 footage looked amazing... lots of jets and vehicular action. Looks brilliant

co-op was underwhelming... I'm sure it will be good though and I welcome the addition of the mode. Would prefer co-op in regular story mode instead of keeping it separate.

DICE has to do something to negate all the bullshit EA has been throwing around over the last few weeks.

Graphics look great...that knife kill near the start of the video looked terrible though.
 
The jets look like they're flying in slow motion, not to mention they're flying super low. Hope there isn't a height ceiling like in BC2...

Also, only 5 flags on 64 player map? And they're not even that spread out from one another. What are the 32 player versions of the map gonna look like?

Bah, I guess there is no hope left for a true BF game.

Plus, the helicopters look like they have the same characteristics as BFBC2 as well. It's disappointing, but it's what I expected.

Err.. didn't most BF2 64 player maps have 5 flags? :confused:

EDIT : Nah, now that I think about it, only a few did. More coffee needed.

However, I do feel like fewer cap points is better. Get's a little dull when the game is too spread out. Especially if you consider that the maps are in fact larger for BF3.
