You're entitled to your opinion and I wasn't saying that any opposing opinion is a troll. It's the fact that you come in to a battlefield thread and complain about the length of the single player campaign when nobody plays battlefield for single player. THAT's why I thought you were trolling. There was no single player in BF2.
 
FYI for anyone using the VPN workaround. probably more of a scare-tactic than anything, but figured people should know:

For those using VPN techniques to gain early access to Battlefield 3. DICE has this to say. “We strongly advise you do not use VPN. You can compromise the security of your account.” When asked by some fans if it is indeed possible to have their accounts banned, DICE responded. “If your account is related in suspicious activity, quite possibly.” Daniel Matros weighs in as well saying that though “it isn’t illegal,” DICE highly advises “against doing it and [to] instead wait for the launch day of your territory.”

It's not advised to log in and out of things with the VPN enabled, no. But doing it to unlock the activator, isn't a problem. Don't play with the VPN enabled anyways.

The proxy workaround is the best bet though.
 
I might have to go back to playing BC2 until the new AMD drivers release. Playing BF3 on this tiny 27" 1080P monitor is not worth it. =/

That is what I am doing but the single player is a little buggy.

Here is what I have so far.

Key bindings are spotty.
Only left mouse and righ mouse bottons are supported
Cannot unbind left and righ mouse from fire and zoom mode and that sucks since I am left handed and use the number pad for fire. I am able to bind those keys and use my mouse buttons for strafe like always buit when i strafe left i fire and when i strafe righ i zoom.

IF you unbind the R key for reload and bind to say page down like i do since i am a left , you loose the ability to pick up weapons. WTF?
I managed to bind my center wheel botton to jump but it does not respond in game. Only space.

That is all for now.

like how they suggested you mask your IP....

I think Dice/EA has plenty of other ways to determine how/when you activated the game and where you live.

no fucking way... I am boned as well being left handed...I won't be able to play, just like the beta. idiots.

I always use left=fire, right=jump, middle=crouch

bet I won't be able to bind things to the number pad completely either now....

Probably time to brush up on my AutoHotKey scripting.

I'm left handed but I use a mouse normally. I use the arrow keys to move, shift to jump, right control to crouch, 1 on the num pad for USE, 2 for grenade, 0 for reload (all on the numpad) and I use the scroll wheel (the scrolling, not the button) to switch weapons. So does this mean that right thumb mouse button WILL NOT support sprinting?

I ordered from Amazon , it took me three or four trys but it worked

for me, it is 8,4,6,2 for movement, 5 for USE, kp_ent to zoom/sight, num 0 for reload, left arrow sprint, down arrow prone, right arrow whatever, wheel to switch weapons.
 
This has to be CPU intensive, no matter what I change my GFX settings to I can not get any higher FPS.. (unless going to ultra which drops me to 30fps)...

High works smooth as butter on single player with my config in sig. I went Ultra and i noticed it did not seem as smooth but could not put my finger on it ( I felt some sort of motion sickness) so I reverted back to high. (1650x1080)

Keep in mind I am jacked up on Vicodin and Soma after Cervical Surgery so perhaps my brain has trouble with the realism on a 2d screen at Ultra levels. I envy all of you since I cannot do more that an hour at at time without tiring myself out. :-(

My physical therapist tells me its all good as long as I take breaks

I got the email too, it says:

"Dear xxxxx,

Thank you for ordering on Origin. The release date for the preorder product has changed. The product listed below will now be available on October 24, 2011."


I'm not at my apartment right now so I can't check if it will activate. Does this mean I can play now???

i know it's all preference, but why would you bind jump to your right mouse button for jump in a game like bf3? you rarely jump in this game and you're wasting such an easily accessible and useful button for other far more important actions.
 
Anyone else's mouse sensitivity all messed up?

Its like the opposite of mouse accel, If I move my mouse slow and steady I do 3-4 turns. If I flick it the same distance it only does like a quarter of a turn.

I did not have this issue in the beta.
 
It's sad how the beta looked better and performed better, at least on "HIGH".

Honestly can't wait for infantry only servers. Tons of vehicle noobs who don't even go for the objective but just spam the entire map with their gay explosives.

Just wait a week or two. Everyone that wanted to try the vehicles will have tried them and the line for vehicles will thin out lol
 
You're all jerks! I can't play until tomorrow evening because of work. Pre-order cancelled!!

Fortunately I can check this thread constantly to live the BF3 launch life vicariously...
 
I find it funny when I see 3-4 people standing at the airstrip waiting for a plane to spawn and then a newly spawned player just deploys directly into the jet.
 
How the heck do you get past the first door with the shotgun in the handle lol.... my friend and i are literally going nuts staring at this thing for the past 20 minutes. About to just go play some MP instead...
 
rofl press and hold R (IIRC) it's the same key to pickup guns off the ground. It should have a dialog that says "press R"

If you changed the key, then use that instead.
 
The campaign is seriously stupid. The part where you have to "Get the LMG"...everytime I move up there an RPG comes from nowhere killing me instantly.

Ok seriously. I think I know why. We're both playing in triple wide and there was no prompt visible. I figured it out after watching a youtube video where there was actually a prompt....
 
Today is launch day of the paid Beta. God I love DICE releases lol :)

Yes, it's really fucked up from where it was in the alpha/beta. Lowering the dpi on my mouse fixes it but then it barely moves on any of menu screens.
 
I wish there was a way to edit the configuration files directly from the hard drive, so something like the BFBC2 mouse accel fix, which completely fixed my mouse issues in BFBC2 would be possible. But I don't think there is anything similar in BF3

So far, at least for me, this has been the "least glitchy" launch I've seen for them thus far.


I don't know about you all but I've taken moments already where I just admire everything and all the action that's going on. The gorgeous graphics, sound design, it all comes together. It's just great stuff!
 
Proxy unlock worked great, really enjoying the game, played a few co-op maps (quite challenging on hard , the third one atleast) and short go on servers. Origin is a PIA though, so cancelled my pre-order.
