i'm looking forward to finally having a reason to use the engineer class.

I'm fine with that, but first playing Caspian, there were tons of tanks. It was nice to at least have some sort of "defense" against them in BC2.

Did you miss the last 50 posts about Caspian being released for the rest of the beta?
This is literally a major mind changer for me. I played one round at home when I stopped by after lunch, and it's majorly different. My only major "complaint" is if I see a tank as a recon, i'm screwed.
For some reason, my neither of my GPUs are being used at 100%.
Running SLI 580s and an i5-2500k at 4.8 Ghz. I hope it's not a PSU issue >_<
edit: This is only on Caspian Border, by the way,
1. Squad issues: Cannot play with... there's no way EA could change it by launch?
someone with GTX580's on OCN was saying the same thing...unless that someone was you.
Support has the C4, which should work.
Does engineer repair still damage armor?
In retail you might be able to use the SOFLAM to call something in against armor. But I haven't read anything specific about how that will function yet.
The only class with no options against armor is Assault I believe.

Does engineer repair still damage armor? I'm wondering if you can kill tanks using the EOD bot haha...
What IS the SOFLAM anyways...closest I've gotten in figuring it out is spec ops flamethrower lol.

Pretty much the way it's supposed to be - a tank is a big deal. As a bonus, you should see a lot less recon camping on maps with vehicles.
Sidenote: can't wait to see how good the retail game will look with tessellation on.
x2 XFX 6970, x1 Sapphire 6970
Or at least smarter campers
tessellation is gonna bring my 580 to its knees, it's not going to get enabled at all. I'll wait for kepler for that.. though I'm super happy with the way the beta looks maxed.
Has anyone else been getting kicked from the caspian borders servers in like ~1 minute? The first few servers just said I got dc'd, the last one said kicked by admin. I've only been trying to join servers with under 60 ms latency too.
I haven't been getting disconnects. I have had severe lag (it's getting better) and some CTDS, though. I get dumped out of the game to the desktop (in the game's resolution) and BF3.exe keeps running while audio loop runs. Have to end process through task manager.
I am running on dated hardware though, so it may just be that. Running the newest beta drivers, might try rolling them back this weekend and see what happens.
yes it does, it was shown in one of the new multiplayer videos released today.
There was a video posted today of Patrick from Dice playing on one of the new levels and he used the engineer tool to damage an enemy tank.

Do you have PunkBuster installed? I notice most Caspian servers have PB enabled.
Anyone else think the LAV-25 is a wee bit too fast? Hit the sprint button and watch it take jumps. Quite fun.![]()
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1tGV1zp6SQ&feature=related2) Ugh...it's just like BF1942 all over again. You get 5 people camping the plane spawn the entire round and doing nothing to support your team, and then when they finally get the plane they either fly around in circles doing nothing or immediately crash.
3) AA seems incredibly underpowered and overdifficult to use. A plane was flying circles around me (I was in a Tunguska or whatever) and I was only able to hit it like 3-4 times at almost point blank range, and there was no noticeable damage to the plane at all. In previous games it seems like it took a few hits and the plane was smoking.
They were fast in BF2 also. They do 60 MPH in real life - that's gotta be pretty sporty.

4) 64 players for the most part is just way too fucking hectic. It's hard to organize any sort of plan of attack, and most everyone just runs around doing fuck-all.
All five modes will be supported on each map. Everyone will have an opportunity to "only" enjoy their style of play. The Caspian map is way too large, even for 64-players. Huge fields are designed for vehicle combat which gets boring quick and makes for a poor first person shooter experience. I hope there aren't a lot of maps like Caspian and more like metro.
