Yes, and you throw like a pansy in BF3. Whereas in BC2 I felt like Joe Montana launching 60+ yard bombs, in BF3 seems like I can barely get it to go 15 yards.

If you equip the grenade you throw much further than the quick nade, I like that feature.

64 man conquest servers need to get metro and damavand off the rotation. They are just horrible. Have to find a new server whenever I see them come up. I even got mvp #2 on the last 64 metro conquest I did, but it's just not fun at all.

So, any one here with a system close to the same specs as my rig except with a SLI or CFX system?

I'm trying to figure out how much FPS I can get after I upgrade my rig. I purchased a second GTX 460 1GB for my rig to go SLI. Currently I'm hitting 30-35 FPS with a single GTX 460 at the recommended settings for my system. Basically High on everything @ 1920x1080.

i haven't played metro on 64 conquest yet, but i definitely agree about damavand. it's a linear piece of shit of a conquest map, so i can only imagine how bad metro would be (i'm assuming it's using the same map as the rush map in beta). for rush, i can see how it would be a lot more fun though.

I have yet to play Metro 64p conquest but I love Damavand conquest. I'm normally against conquest maps that are a straight line but this map gives you tons of cover and plenty of ways to flank people. My least favorite conquest map is definitely Tehran Highway.

on my overclocked 460's i run high everything 1920x1080 and minimum framerate is around 70. if i had to guess i'd say average framerate is somewhere in the low 90's. our main problem is VRAM, so make sure to choose FXAA in lieu of MSAA.

...sigh, wtf. Origin won't go into online mode, and trying to log into battlelog just takes me right back to the login screen, no error message, nothing.

what the other map with the big tunnel that is pretty linear (maybe it is the on you are talking about)

so far....I have yet to see a round where one team has actually been able to break through the tunnel stalemate.

both side grab their 2 flags and then just get stopped.

I managed to have one of the most fun games ever on Damavand Conquest Large.


As normal the teams took both of the side flags, then started the stalemate in the tunnel. Tanks and vehicles trying to make progress... After about 5 minutes of that, almost at the same time people on both sides started using the small helicopters to drop squads behind enemy lines and then the fights in the tunnels started to spill back out to protect the other flags, then the tunnel would get captured and the process would repeat.

Once squads started moving (and dropping spawn beacons) via the helicopter to get behind the tunnel entrances it changed the game.

Sadly that was only one match and I haven't had a repeat of it since, just the regular stalemate. I've tried to get the chopper and go behind but unless some people follow me I was on my own and easy pickings

Yeah, that's pretty good.

I'm at a whopping rank 8 after 4 hours, 2.24 KDR but my SPM is pretty bad @ 330.

I'll get the hang of it :p

That's pretty damn good actually, my KDR just dropped to 1.85 now, I was at 2.0 but I've been playing alot of rush andit seems you die more. If you want to level up fast try a TDM match, it's fast paced action and you rack up lots of kills.

Also guys the key to winning some rush rounds is to unlock smoke. I need to make a video of my squad smoking up grand bazar like crazy and just rolling the map, it was awesome.

IN RUSH SMOKE = WIN

only takes like 20 kills with tubes to get smoke...

You're not missing much with Metro. It's the most unbalanced map in conquest, especially with 64 players. Only 3 check points and one side not only starts closer to the central checkpoint, but also has the high ground. It's also incredibly linear with 2 choke points, which are the only ways to get to the central check point for the other (already disadvantaged) team.

Basically the team with the advantage has a couple assault and support players who supply health and ammo, while everyone else goes engineer and just spams RPGs, making it impossible for the opponent to actually get anywhere. It's not uncommon to lose by 150+ tickets.

Do you guys use Ambient Occlusion in multiplayer? I'm wondering if it might be a competitive disadvantage to have it on..

The M416 just requires a bit of pull down to handle the recoil, so it's pretty easy to spray people down even at the upper end of what could be considered medium range. I do find myself getting considerably more headshots with the M16 though. It feels really powerful.

Is there a way to manually bind a different key for spotting?

I can't see that function anywhere in the list of control keys, but I'd really like to bind it to the extra side button on my mouse.

I think so but I don't believe I've ever used it. I've either gone full auto or semi auto mode. I believe the accuracy at the far end of medium range that you gain with 3 round burst is worth it, but it's very situational and most of the time at that range you need to start firing almost immediately, so switching for it isn't that feasible.

Anyways, I feel like the M16 is a superior gun by far except it's limited by the 3 round burst. Not sure if it's worth it.

I love the way that, by the end of a conquest round, some of the buildings will be completely gone, just scattered blocks of rubble left. You run up to antenna, and there's just nothing there. It's great.

I never thought I would say this but honestly I would have no problem at all if they removed tanks from the game. I would estimate that 75% of my overall deaths come from tanks, the LAV, etc.

uhh, maybe you should be spawning somewhere else, and playing around with some more rockets / c4 /mines. just a thought.

Rockets don't do anything against tanks, and the tanks have infinite range on the machine gun. A tank with a single engineer repairing it is 100% invincible - I've run out of rockets many times since the repair rate of the tank exceeds that of my refire rate. It takes three engineers simultaneously shooting a tank being repaired to take it down.

I'm sure it doesn't come fully naturally to people who have played fps without vehicles for a long time, but when you see a tank/LAV on your minimap, avoid it. Always make sure there's cover between you and it, and ideally, never let it see you. You can usually tell where they are looking if their shooting at something. After playing BF since 1942, I barely worry about them and almost never die to them.

If you're trying to kill them, that can be a bit of a risk. There's tons of people that play engi/support though.

i've never had as much trouble with tanks as you are describing in your post in all honesty. don't run in blindly just to try and take it out either. pick off that engi first, and then rape that s.o.b. and be smart with your shots. shoot, go prone behind some cover immediately so he has a hard time spotting you. move around and keep picking at it.
