Battlefield 2042

Anyone else having problems since the latest patch? I fired it up for the first time today since the start of Oct and it makes my pc reboot every time I get to the intro screen of Season 2. PC (in sig) has no overclocks, and has been completely rock solid since I built it, with this game and every other one I play. Re-installed the game, and Origin, it already had admin rights, gone back 2 drivers (using DDU), tested ram, re-seated cpu and nothing helps. Probably just as well that most servers are empty, and now I feel stupid for wasting so much time fixing an unbroken pc

I fixed the game by uninstalling and playing BF1. It worked!

yup, did the same shortly after launch. I will more than likely never buy another Battlefield game again either. Battlefield 1 was excellent and besides a couple design decisions such as vehicle spawning that I didn't agree with I had no issue with it. With BFV it almost seemed like a shoddy fan made mod and the gameplay was horrendous. I thought surely Since could t make 2 bad games in a row but they went above and beyond bad with Battlefield 2042.

I feel as though the people that purchased Battlefield 2042 and have had it since day 1 should get the next Battlefield game completely free of charge. Will this happen? lol...but it should.

Man they still haven't fixed this??? I have been waiting patiently to buy and play this and I'm not holding my breath on this one... Just so sad.....

my friend finally bought it almost 2 months ago, he didn't see what was so bad about it. I told him its in better shape than it was.. specialists are still meh and 128 players is too much. season 3 comes out tuesday. i know they are adding a map, specialist, and some weapons and a tank. its a 2042 inspired update.

Yeah at this rate we'll have to wait till 2042 to play it the way it was meant to be played.... Lol jk but I think I'll wait a little longer till they iron out the bugs only issue is if you wait too long they will move on to the next game in the franchise and this will be a miss.. just sad time for battlefield

This game is a year old apparently. I think I last touched this thing in the summer? Semi fun when it worked. The vehicles (and lack of on a map), lack of weapons, lack of TDM, bugs, lack of server browser, connection issues and stupid gadgets just killed it for me.

2042 is the worst BF game ever created. I uninstalled it 3 days after installing it never to install it again. This is coming from a BF vet that played ALL the previous titles from 1942 on. Games are getting so bad nowadays It's sad.

Yeah that sucks part of me want to try it for myself and see but all I keep hearing is that it sucks.... I'll just have to pass I don't want to ruin battlefield for myself...

New map is a good one though. Performance is better. Still some bugs and console aim bots.

Do you still shoot at Ants? Thinking if picking it up again but picked up Elder Scrolls instead.

Yeah I did try out the new map. To me this is the meat grinder (Metro) map of 2042. Cept with vehicles.......Lots of killing going on.

Ugh, thought about buying BG2042 as its on sale but will pass. I'm holding out in hopes of a remastered BF4 but they'd probably screw that up too, lol.

Well if anyone wants to install 2042 it's on gamepass as well.. going to check it out since I have gamepass for the kids (and me lol) not holding my breath for a great experience but hey it's there to try

I played bf4 for like 6 or 7 years it's entire life probably one of the greatest games ever. Amazing fun. But all good things come to an end. Heh.

They already kind of tried that with 2042. They had some remastered content from BF3. Of course it was limited, server settings were all over the place, and it just wasn't that great. And of course, servers at least at launch were not dedicated. But there was a server browser for this mode, yet not the main game.

Games are better off without server browsers.

Much easier to find maps that way. No server browser = game is dead, unless it is very basic.
Server browsers plus private operated servers is what killed off bf4. I much prefer the map rotation be controlled by the devs and not let trolls corrupt the entire player base going ban happy. I'll never play a privately rented server game ever again. Not going to stoop down to that childish level. Play the normal map rotation fair and square like everyone else equally. Give the community too much power and they drive the game into the ground. History doesn't need to repeat itself.

The new map is good. Not going to lie. Been playing the crap out of it. The rest of the game.....yeah. The other newer map is ok. Rest of it can fuck off. At least they improved albeit way too little too late.

Yeah because watching the server empty on maps people don't like is so enjoyable when you can't skip maps. Also not sure what you are talking BF4 being killed off unless you are just talking about you.

Lol nevermind it went over your head.

I can still find populated servers in BF4, at least as of a few months ago. Game is still doing well for something that is almost a decade old and has had 4 sequels. The problem with BF 2042 is you are essentially stuck on the default options, so that means you can never play certain maps. It would often take weeks to find a particular map because there was no way to specify maps. And servers couldn't increase vehicle counts or spawn rates and the default options are essentially 4 tanks per 128 players.

i have to say the last two updates have made the game much better. i had gone back to playing bf5 because my frame rates on 2042 took a nose dive but the last two updates its back to being really smooth and i actually prefer the gun play on 2042.

This game is FREE right now and I can’t get into a game unless crossplay is engaged. Nobody is playing this. Whether they fixed certain things or not is no longer relevant. The game is DEAD.

Not even worth $20. I started this thread and didn’t even buy this game. lol

When they took away the campaign, they should have made it free to pay from the beginning; when even Overwatch 2 ditched the pay wall, it should have been obvious where the industry was heading!

even broken gams like halo: infinity stone still have enough momentum from the record launch week to survive on dregs for years

lmao I had it preordered and uninstalled it in 3 days max. Dog poopie. I hate it. It was one hell of a run we had with 2142/bf3/bf4 bois but it's all over now. The new game is NOTHING like its predecessors and in a very bad way lol.

Yea and Overwatch 2 is doing well. It's a very fun game for a filthy casual like me lol.

Yeah, unlike EA ,the management inside Blizzard can target bad things within months- it took EA a year to do the same!

343 is going to take multiple years to fix the mess that is currently halo ( but it will survive because momentum)

theres actually 22k people playing right now and that only includes steam. crossplay is likely turned on by default and probably not many people turn it off.

No, it should have been $60 without the paid cosmetics and crap. Make it a good game and it will sell and people will play it. Making it free to play would worsen one of the worst aspects of this game.

BF3/4 Premium was also just fine. It added lots of good maps and I never had an issue finding people playing them even if the maps were paid DLC. I wouldn't mind free DLC maps, but we're not going to see that level of quality and content unless it is a large paid expansion. Shitty microtransactions ruin games. Still, I'd rather have a proper game with no map DLC than one with maybe 1-3 maps dropped over the course of a few years that is free to play.

There's no reason to disable crossplay to begin with. No matter how strong the aim assist they might put into some games, PC users will always have a night and day advantage, even for the average joe. Your game is way more responsive, sharper and your controls are way more accurate.

I can confirm that with crossplay enabled it's easy to find a game. And I agree with people saying the game has greatly improved. The game is in a decent state now in my opinion. It feels like a proper Battlefield game. Compared to when the game released, there has a been a tremendous number of changes and fixes and the game runs smooth and plays well. It even has quite a lot more different vehicles compared to release (like the lovely APCs/IFVs which were curiously absent until recently).

Sadly they still did not bring back the infantry movement system of BF V, so infantry gameplay is still not where I want it to be for a "new" Battlefield title. And I'm afraid they never will... IIRC they said the maps were not designed around it and that it would be too much work to implement now.

I would have to strongly disagree with you here. The idea that you still have an advantage over the aim assisted controller players is unfathomable. Controller gremlins that have been on control since birth up to their teenage 15 year old peak could be mastered practicing 7 hours a day eating mom's meatloaf in the basement slamming mountain dues back to back sweating caffeine. Now add aim assist to that? No thank you. Keep the playing field fair. The cross platform jambalaya is gross. I hate playing with console players. It gives me the creeps, LOL. Fair n square PC vs PC ahhhhh da best! Either way I hate 2142 so I don't even caree what happens. Uninstalled it the 3rd day I had it and this was after I had pre-ordered it the first day preorder was available.

If I’m following correctly, you pre-ordered, then upon release, played for three days before uninstalling. Fair enough, the game was pretty awful shit. Hit registration, movement faults, you name it, it was there, it was all true.
however, many of the issues were ironed out in the first few patches. It got really solid, really quick, but it did take until the following June. That part, is understanding unacceptable. However, your day 3 experience, does not mesh with my experiences past patch level 1.0. My issues that just lost my interest was the grind of the battle pass for core weapons. Console players were of no concern. Aim assist or not, M/KB just wrecks face.
I just lost interest about level 110.

If the AA is weak in 2042 then m+kb is probably superior, but xDiv is 100% correct that nowadays in many games the controller is superior.

In some games I have seen specific niche situtations where a controller may be superior, at times, but that's it. And even then it'd only somewhat worry me IF it were controller users on a PC, because consoles have horrendus input lag compared to PCs (mostly due to their forced v-sync on at a low hz, although things are beginning to change on that front with VRR and 120fps options).

Not sure about BF42 but the gamepad aim assist in MW2/WZ 2 is absolutely laughably insane. Literally insta-snaps onto people if you are looking into an opponents general direction and then insta-snaps to the next enemy player and so on. It's 100% a build in aim-bot and you just have to press fire on the gamepad while moving with the other stick. Gamepad/console players are basically dominating online FPS now because of aim "assist" and basically why I am exiting stage left from the genre.

An average gamepad user has almost the same accuracy as a top 100 KBM player in Halo which to me is absolutely laughable.
