Battlefield 2042

I just fired it up after several months, I should not have to spend 15 minutes searching for and then executing a code deletion in order to get the x axis working on my mouse in order to look around the map from left to right. I must say , the game is beautiful at 3840 x 1600 on Ultra settings.

I have fun in the game playing with a buddy on Discord from time to time. Tanks/APCs can do OK if you have at least one person with a repair tool (rare unless you play with friends on Discord) and you engage appropriately, i.e. not pushing ahead of team/front line. I find good pilots are hard to take down, little bird/HIND/transport included, unless you have at least 3-4 people shooting missles or an AA working with you.

It's a in a decent state these days for what it is, but glad I only paid $25 for it (of money I had from selling random inventory crap on Steam).

If you use cross play, and are willing to play with Xbox people, Conquest 128 is great, I think.
 
Got my new PC up and running and I just played a little bit of BF2042 for the first time! I had a lot of fun. I never tried it when it launched but I imagine it has come a long way from all the horrible reviews at launch, because this seems like a great game.

I really like it. The vehicles are really fun. I especially like the transport vehicle that converts from hover to jet. All the vehicles are fun and can be effective. This is as much a battlefield game now as any of the others. It needs a few maps, but the bones are really good.

It is a shame they botched the launch. This game needed another year in development.

Nice, I haven't even really gotten into vehicles yet! I just played for an hour last night. I fared a lot better than I did in BF1 (which is also a fun game), I guess I suck with iron sights lol

I had no idea they'd added a specialist with...a shoulder fired TV missile. Jaysus.

I'm guessing its been nerfed since this video was recorded 2 months ago though, when half a team can camp a map spamming TVs (that are FAR easier to guide than previous BF games from the looks of it).

 
After a few days of playing, I've finalled learned how the wingsuit works! I always assumed that if you could control the up/down pitch, it would be the mouse, but it's the keyboard, durp. It's a blast to fly around! And to stop flying momentarily to shoot enemies then start flying again is insanely fun!
 
I swear the franchise has just turned into a "who's the biggest griefing piece of shit" competition enabled by a developer that has no idea what they're doing anymore.
 
I'm glad I retired from Battlefield after BF4. That spawn camping shit doesn't look like fun.

I do miss playing infantry only on BF2 PC when I wanted a break from being a tanker or attack chopper pilot.
 
20 something hours of play and I’m finally starting to hit my stride. Just played a few matches and finished top 5 & 7 (64player) on two winning teams and number 1 on a losing team with 25-12 K/D and 6 captures!

This game is a blast and it’s even more fun now that I don’t feel so lame. I switch between the AC-42 and the RM68. At first I didn’t get the hype with the RM68 but once you get it spec’d out, it’s quite formidable!

I’ve been playing exclusively as sundance, I just love her wingsuit. Smart bombs aren’t bad either.

I haven’t had this much fun in an FPS with BCBF2!

Back in the BF2 days on the Gulf of Oman map I would fly a MEC copter to the Marine aircraft carrier, parachute aboard with a sniper rifle and find a spot near the flight desk so I could snipe players spawning in a F35. Those players would try to hunt me but I would leave a claymore near me or jump overside then get aboard elsewhere in the carrier then return to snipe some more.

Has this thing been fixed so that it works and is fun to play? And does it offer a good offline Mode for playing against bots? I've been watching some videos of folks playing in jets and choppers, and it looks like it would be Fun to play but I'd want to play against bots for a while.

Personally I am having a blast, Season 5 has been so much fun. They finally added back things like being able to change squads, and kick from squads if you are leader.
Most weapons are pretty balanced, although a good chopper pilot will clean house.
You can't choose maps/servers in the normal game modes but the Portal section has loads of custom servers where you can choose, and it's here that you will be able to play against more bots if you search for the right server. My current fave is Mil Sim, it's nuts!

Thanks, that sounds great when I build a new system. This winter that will be a game I get. I'll follow-up with you then. In case you want to coordinate and play on the squad.
 
Too little too late. I've moved on to other games- there's just too many good games out there. I was a diehard Battlefield player but 2042 was in a horrible state at release and it took them years to get it to the current state. Alot of diehard BF players have moved on.

Yeah, I recall reading how horrible it was upon release. I don't know why companies keep doing it that way.

The price is still 60 bucks today and 90 for the elite. I don't think I'll be buying it for that price.

It doesn't matter whether one buys it on steam or EA right?

If you already own the game you should definitely fire it back up again, it's well worth a play now, just think of it as a shoot'em up instead of a true BF game

I see they're going the Call of Duty route. It is kind of pathetic how much they are copying the worst of CoD. Guys with blood red and neon blue camo. 20 tier skips if you buy the Battle Pass. I think they even directly copied the term "Battle Pass" from CoD. A trailer for every map update, which has some fake story that is gibberish and literally makes no sense, just like Call of Duty.

I know this won't happen, but I just want a modern BF3/4 style game. No characters, just regular soldiers. Regular map releases, no fake stories, tiers, and other crap.

Bra...those times are LONG gone. Too much money left on the table if you don't incorporate that into your games.
 
My biggest gripe at the moment is the bugs I am running into after season 6. Black screen after the end of a match, have to close out and reopen if you want to play again. Players are randomly invisible, along with tanks, guns, and any other textures that decide not to load.

It all came from fortnite. I want all that too. No skins. Its sounding like the next battlefield will come with a BR. I'm hoping they have all the skins and stuff in the BR, and leave the core battlefield game like it was back in the day. That would make everyone happy.

Its totally bizarre to me battlefield doesn't have a free BR. I'm starting to think all the devs with talent are working on fornite or COD.

i saw this too, but from the beta i played i always held the belief that this game is unfixable.

All the different mechanics (forget the bugs/whatever) just didn't seem that fun.

Did they radically change the game? I miss good BF.
