Batman: Arkham Knight

$23 at cdkeys.com if anyone still needs a key. 100% legit, and I've bought quite a few keys from them, almost instant delivery. $36 for the premium edition with the season pass and all that bullshit.

That's the route I went. I usually don't for pre-orders and stuff but hard to pass up that price for the PE.

since Nvidia is bundling the game with their 900 series cards you can get the game for cheap in the For/Sale section...I bought mine for $25 a few weeks back but I saw people selling it for $20 (and less) recently

Or that, but there aren't any being sold at the moment. $23 is the best non-forum deal at the moment I'd say.

This game provides a real quandary for me. On one hand, it is a major release with SteamOS and therefore Linux support. I want to support the developers bringing these games to Linux, certainly. Overall, I expect the game itself to be enjoyable as I've enjoyed all the previous Batman Arkham titles .

However, I dislike the obscene cost of the "Season Pass" and the fact that major story and playable character DLC is pre-order/retailer specific. For the cost of the Season Pass, you better damn well get ALL of the DLC included, including the aforementioned. Likewise, I oppose Nvidia GameWorks / PhysX on principle so I'm not enthused to buy a title from a developer using it.

Most of all, the late release of the Linux / SteamOS version seems to pose the largest quandary. Unless Steam changes how they register purchases, if I were to pre-order or buy on release day and play it on Windows (or even using WINE), then it would "count" as a Windows purchase, not a Linux one. I'm to understand that Steam decides what platform sales "count" toward based on A) platform of purchase B) Most played platform 7-12 days after purchase C) If NOT played for 12 days or so after purchase, then most played platform. I've heard there may be some changes to this formula, but the way the game is released makes it impossible for me to Say "Hey, I bought this because you're planning to/launching for Linux" AND buy launch week or pre-order which is another metric that devs follow. I'm campaigning for Steam to allow a "platform of preference" toggle, per game or account wide, but since we don't have one of those at the moment the metrics have long been biased against Linux especially in cases of asynchronicity of launch dates, playing on WINE and/or having a Windows install as well while preferring and buying based on Linux support etc...

So yes. Not sure what to do here. If I do buy it, I may very well do so from G2A. They have a Paypal special where a Steam copy of the game itself is $23-25(global activation), for those interested. Someone said CDKeys.com has a $35 for premium edition?! Yeah, that may be my new purchase locale... Does CDKeys.com (always)instantly provide the key for a pre-order title like this? I get a little wary of grey-market discount sites if they ask for too much personal info. Glad they seem to support PayPal though they want to SMS you something to claim your key from the looks of it...

How much of the extra content is preorder/retailer specific? Is there a site that lists the different bundles? I had planned to get this from the Steam store, but if there is another place that includes more enticing content...

And yeah, yikes at the $90 price with the season pass. I want to support the devs and pub but that kind of pricing makes me want to say screw it and hope for an all-inclusive bundle or GOTY edition for $30 in a year or two.

The Harley story stuff is for any pre-order anywhere. Red Hood has some story stuff that is Gamestop exclusive. I think that's the only story content set aside as pre-order bonuses.

As for the season pass: Just don't buy it. By the time of the GOTY edition is out the season pass will probably have gone on sale multiple times, WB is pretty good about sales on the Batman games. Outside of going for a key reseller and getting a damn good price it's simply only worth buying the base game up front anyway. Buying a season pass for full price before any content is out is silly.

If they're charging this exorbitant amount for the Premium Edition / Season Pass (were you to buy it at retail price), can anyone confirm that it includes all the pre-order and retailer-specific stuff? If not, that is even doubly frustrating. It used to be if you splurged for a Season Pass you at least got all the pre-order/retailer/release date DLC included up front. Hell, even Ubisoft's "gold edition" keys give you everything and some stuff unlocked early/extra.

I've never seen a season pass give pre-order DLC. Ubi's Gold Editions and what not on the PC used to give a lot of the pre-order stuff back when they delayed the PC version for several months. Now days you don't get all that stuff with Gold Editions.

the Season Pass gives you most of the DLC excluding any retailer exclusive (GameStop) DLC

Yeah, despite my love for the Arkham games, $90 all in is a bit much for me to swallow. As much as I don't want to, I might just wait until there's a GOTY edition or the game + the season pass go on sale for a more reasonable price. Unlike what's been done before, I don't think there has ever been any discount on the GOTY editions of these for people who already purchased the base game, and I don't want to buy it twice.

Finished Origins earlier this afternoon after taking a bit of a break from it (trying to wrap up all of the achievement stuff was getting a bit tedious) and man, what a game. Stability issues aside, I was extremely entertained by it. I'll almost certainly give it another play through at some point. So many parts of it were so well done...just a shame about the bugs and the crashing that kind of tarnished the overall experience. The game itself was immensely good, though.

new Arkham Knight trailer featuring celebrities such as Wiz Khalifa, Joe Manganiello, Neil Patrick Harris, Blake Anderson, Breckin Meyer, Minka Kelly etc...stupid trailer in my opinion...so they're taking a page out of the Call of Duty marketing handbook and hiring celebs to promote the game?...

They'be been marketing pretty hard for this game - seen a few full subway station ads for it. I'll watch Conan play a game in Clueless Gamer, but I don't know about just any rando celebrity put in front of a camera.

I recognized NPH, Troy Baker and Kevin Conroy. But I couldn't give less of a fuck about celebrities promoting video games. Commercials like this actually have the potential of turning me off from a game, if they think so lowly of their consumers. Good job, WB and Rocksteady.

What's up with only Gamestop getting the red hood campaign? Any way around this shit?

It'll probably be for sale on it's own somewhere down the line or included in the inevitable Game of the Year Edition. I'm glad it's just Red Hood so I can shrug and not care about missing out on more Jason Todd being a shit character.

If there's even a shred of decency, Red Hood, Harley Quinn and all other "exclusive/pre-order/retailer" stuff will be available to others either a la carte or added to the (overpriced!) Season Pass, after some time. Its bad business in every way to create truly "limited/exclusive" content especially in a single-player game; there isn't even the multiplayer MMO justification that said items would be collectors/bragging rights for members of the community (ie Collector's / Deluxe edition only pets or mounts).

Especially in this age of digital distribution and people picking up games later down the line, there's zero reason to limit any of your content to only one particular time (pre-order) or retailer. Even in the most pessimistic, amoral business sense, its extra content you can sell to players down the line.

much more immersive with the Nvidia features...is it necessary to enjoy the game? No...but I'm glad I have a GTX 970 to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played (sounds like a slogan!)...people buying $300+ graphics cards want to enjoy maximum graphics fidelity and with most games nowadays the only way to do that is with Nvidia hardware

Man, that batmobile looks like a tank. Pretty excited for this. Effects look great as expected.

They put out a video detailing all the pre-order stuff. They said Harley would be released sometime after weeks but side-stepped Red Hood. The side stepping makes me think it will come because they made sure to point out the couple things that were completely exclusive and pointed out how long the PS4 stuff would be exclusive (until Fall).

40 percent off at GMG again right now for this. Not sure how long that particular deal will last. The deal came through their email lists.

It appears that copies of the Playstation 4 version of Batman: Arkham Knight are in the hands of a few lucky gamers thanks to someone breaking the street date...message boards are filling up with images and spoilers...so beware...

any reviews leak yet? Is there a day-of embargo for this one?

With WB it's probably the day before or the day of. I'm surprised they haven't pulled any of their usual BS with reviews or Youtube deals yet.

If anyone still needs a key, cdkeys.com still has it for $23. Cheap as balls.

there are people selling the Nvidia bundle code right here on [H] and people are still buying from shady or questionable sites?

Yeah it's not really questionable or shady, I've bought tons of keys (and so have friends) from these guys, they've never steered wrong.

Why pay retail or slightly less, when a great deal is right in front of your face. So what if it's launch day handout for the cd-keys for this particular game. If you've got a slow connection and need to pre-load, buy elsewhere I suppose.

Just checked - there are people selling ~$20 codes in the For Sale thread right now, I'd grab those before hitting up cdkeys.com. There weren't any being sold a few days ago on the forum so I suggested this site instead if people were still looking.

Lol at the Gamespot review. I like Kevin Van Ord, hopefully I'll like it more than him. PC framerate + visuals should help a lot compared to his PS4 review.

wow those are some amazing reviews...there I was expecting Arkham Knight to disappoint...guess I was wrong...I still think most of the trailers are bad but I'd rather have bad trailers and an amazing game rather then the reverse...Rocksteady does it again!!...they can move to the upper tier of game developers once they make an amazing game outside of the Batman universe

speaking of trailers...the latest trailer is very good...

Sadly that is a trailer for PS4 exclusive content. It's a little uncomfortable at the end and that has me interested. Of course anyone not on the PC won't be seeing that stuff until sometime in the Fall when the exclusivity ends.

I thought that trailer was for the base game...I know at the end it mentions the Scarecrow Nightmare Mission but I thought that was just them mentioning it...it didn't say anything before the trailer about the content being exclusive to the PS4
