Talking to AMD about this and would like to get specifics if you see an issue with level load times.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please give a detailed description of the problem, detailed system spec, driver, and DX mode.

Thanks!

I have BC2 on a Vertex 120 SSD. I could restart my computer 3 times in the time it takes me to load a new map in BC2.
Catalyst Beta 10.3, dx 11, rig in sig.

I had an 8800gtx, put in a 5850, load times trippled at least. Put the 8800gtx back in, it works fine. Tried dx10 and dx11 mode. Both have the very long load times.
I was using the 10.2 just went to the 10.3a and no difference in load times.
Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.82ghz, Gigabyte EP45-DS3R, 4GB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 C5 @ 1080mhz 5-5-5-15, Raptor X 150gb, XFX Radeon 5950 XXX Edition @ 875/1175, Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Rig in sig, Cat 10.2. People with much slower computers and nvidia cards load a hell of a lot faster. Normally by the time I'm loaded in all the vehicles are gone. There really aren't a lot of specifics besides if you have an ATI card you'll probably be loaded after the first point has already been capped in conquest. Friend with a GTX295 loads at least twice as fast as me, maybe faster, and friends with 8800GTs and old Conroes load much faster than me.

Old system:

-Win7 64, using Steam version of BFBC2
- i7-920, HT disabled, no overclock
- GA-EX58-UD3R, with latest BIOS.
- 4GB DDR3 1600
- X25-M 80GB OS drive, 150Gb Raptor game drive.
- EVGA 285GTX SSC, (196.75)
- Auzentech Forte

BFBC2 (Dx = auto) load time approximately 20 seconds, roughly the same in both beta and retail.

New System:
- Identical to above, except with new video card.
- Gigabyte GV-R587UD-1GD 5870 (10.2 & 10.3)

BFBC2 (Dx = auto) load time is now 50-60 seconds.

I have MSI Afterburner running on a second monitor and when the 5870 starts loading the map the GPU graph stutters between 2 and 10 percent GPU usage for about 30 seconds of the level load (roughly). The Nvidia card was pegged at 100% during this part of the load.

Win 7 64, Steam BFBC2
i7 920 HT enabled, 3.72ghz overclock
Radeon 5870 1GB
Asus P6T vanilla motherboard X58 chipset
6GB DDR3 @ 1560mhz
SSD: Crucial 256gb Indilinx Barefoot controller w/ samsung nand (Crucial M225-256gb) with TRIM enabled
X-Fi XtremeGamer

10.2 Catalyst and 9.12 catalysts in DX11 mode result in extremely slow loads, upwards of 30 seconds or more with this system using my SSD. It eventually will do a quick black flash, then continue the load animation, at which time it finishes up quickly and puts me in-game. This happens every single time I load a new map or round. I use the +fullproc command line toggle for BFBC2.

Win7 x64
Q9550 @ 3.6
WD Caviar Black 640gb
4gb DDR2 1066 gskill
XFX HD5850 on 10.2
Gigabyte P45 UD3P

Loading into a new server is very slow for me, 45 seconds or so. Loading between matches is usually not that bad though.

Kyle - I was in the process of looking for Dan's post about e-mailing him about this issue then bumped into your thread. Thanks for following up on this. I literally am either the last or next to last person to load the map every round. In BC2, this is quite problematic as you know as all vehicles are gone and I have to walk these huge maps. Specs are in siggy. Catalyst 10.2 drivers. DX10

PS. COD: World at War was the same issue.

i7-920 o/c to 3800mhz (with HT on)
6gb Corsair Dominator
Evga x58 3xSLI
2xXFX 5870 XXX Crossfire using both 10.2 and 10.3a drivers
WD Caviar 640gb
Dx11

Issues are super long load time when joining a server. Basically the same issue as GoldenTiger.

DX11 mode result in extremely slow loads, upwards of 30 seconds or more...It eventually will do a quick black flash, then continue the load animation, at which time it finishes up quickly and puts me in-game.

I load slower then my buddy running a slowered clocked q9550 then my OC'd 920. My times are still pretty good and even if i force DX9 I still load slower.

It used to load REALLY slow in the beta

Latest DX drivers, Cat 10.2
Rig in sig

I am having problems with load times.

I run the game at 1920x1200, 4X AA 16X AF, on the 10.3a Performance Driver. I play in DX11.

I have an ASUS EAH5870. My system specs are as follows:

EVGA X58 SLI
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.8GHz
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3
ASUS EAH5870 Video Card
ASUS Xonar Essence STX Audio Card
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB Hard Drive

The game is fully patched up to the newest version and I play it through Steam. Feel free to have AMD reach out to me personally if they would like.

Rig in my sig but I'll put the important shit here for quick reference.

965 @ 3.8ghz
5870
120gb SSD.

I've played with the 10.2, 10.2 Hotfix and now the 10.3a's and it's still sluggish.

I notice that the level loads take an incredibly long time. I thought it was just the game and it really doesnt bother me but from what I've read others with 4800's/GTX2** said that their load times are very quick.

Using Catalyst 10.1, game is installed on Intel X25-M G2 SSD.

ATI 4870 + DX10 setting for BFBC2 = slow load time, amost a minute. Most of the people in my team are almost at the 1st objective on the Rush map when the load is done.

ATI 4870 + DX9 setting for BFBC2 = lightning fast, I'm usually one of the first people on the map.

Win7 64bit

955BE @ 3.6
8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-1333
5970 stock w/ 10.2 cats (till I get home tonight)
WD 320GB w/ PF on 74GB Raptor

Steam version of BC2.

Average load time in DX11 is 45-60 sec.

Swapping in my GTX285 gets me load times of <20sec, sometimes <10sec.

Funny thing is, on my rig atleast, is that it doesn't seem to be doing much of anything after about 20 sec. The HDD light kinda flickers, but it seems like it's just twiddling it's thumbs waiting for something.

If in-game performance wasn't so much better (and I didn't play Dirt 2) then I'd prolly break down and put the GTX285 back in until this got fixed. Was getting kinda jaded on PC games when BC2 released, now I'm properly addicted again.

All is right with the Universe... kinda.

Q6600 running @ 3.2 ghz
MSI Neo-3FR Mobo
8 Gig G.Skill DDR2
HIS 5850
WD 500 GB SATA 7200 RPM

I like most other ATi users have encountered the dreaded "slow loading" of multiplayer maps in BFBC2. Running the game with my 5850 in auto mode (dx11) I'm generally one of the last to load and usually the first flag is already captured. Forcing DX10 does not fix the load times, they are just as long. I've played the game with both Catalyst 10.2 & 10.3a without any further issues other than the loading times.

Now, if I force DX9 I'm probably one of the first people loading into the multiplayer maps. And while I am still playing in DX9 mode, it renders the stationary guns unusable due to the glass becoming opaque due to some sort of graphical bug.

Using a retail purchased copy from newegg - Limited Edition

Not on it fast enough, this was a known issue through the entire beta too.

I can try my best to deadhead these issues into whatever company may be impacted, but I have to know about it. There are 5000 posts here a day and hundreds of new threads. I just can't keep up with all of it on my own.

If you guys reach out to me with a valid issues, I am in a position to help you with them.

PhII X3 720 running @ 3.4 ghz
Gigabyte 790XT-UD4P
4GB Mushkin DDR3
Sapphire 5850 (Catalyst 10.3a)
WD 640 GB SATA 7200 RPM

Same issues, terrible loading times on all multiplayer maps. I'm pretty sure a DICE employee once said it was due to the way ATI's drivers compiled the shaders.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Q6600 running @ 3.5ghz
ASUS P5K-E
4 Gig OCZ Platinum Ram
XFX HD 5870
WD Raptor 74gb
WD 500GB

Really slow load times compared to Nvidia users, or even DX9 users.

Win 7 x64
i7 860 @ stock speeds with hyper 212 plus cpu cooler
Gigabyte p55m ud2 mobo
4gb xms3
Antec 650watt TruePower power supply
Sata 750gb hard drive

Video Card results with load times with BFBC2
Drivers: Nvidia 196.75
PNY Nvidia GTX 260 216 - dx10 and dx9 both took about 10 seconds (until the drivers killed the card)
Played at: 1920x1200 Medium/Low settings

Drivers: 10.2 drivers
Card: Visiontek Ati 5770
DX11 via auto mode, about 45 seconds level load times
DX9 mode, about 10 seconds level load times
1920x1280 High Settings
Returned the card to store as the fan was making all kinds of grinding noise

Currently running
Drivers: still have the 196.75 drivers installed as the cards are fanless so they can't be killed
Video Cards: Zotek 9400GT (x2) passive cards - about 10 seconds level load times
720x480 Low Settings (kinda looks like Doom in some areas, almost playable at 1024x667)

So the only time the level load times where slow was in auto mode for the ATI card, in dx9 is was the same as the other cards.

I'm running win7 x64 with 10.3 preview drivers. Same experience as 10.2 drivers:

Dx9 loads very fast, almost always first person in the game.
Dx10 / Dx11 load very slowly... more than half the team's spawned by the time I load with maybe 1 base already captured.

My roommate has a GTX260 and he loads fast regardless of Dx mode (9 or 10). He's usually up and running already capping a base when my 5870 loads up in dx10/11. For now, I'm running in dx9 almost exclusively for this reason.

I went from a GTX 260 that loaded in 20 secs aprox to a 5870 to load in 50 secs aprox.

I went from a GTX 260 that loaded in 20 secs aprox to a 5870 to load in 50 secs aprox.

Same here.

Sig is in rig, using 10.3 drivers with dx11.

My buddy with an Nvidia card is usually halfway to the objective point in a tank before I can even get into the game

I read that it wasn't just a BC2 issue but a shader compile issue that affected quite a few games and was well known on the ATI forums.

Something about nvidia and microsoft joint developing shader compile routines and ATI's routines being slower?

Source = teh interwebz.

went from 8800gtx to 5850, load times more than doubled the older card. system also infrequently BSODs with the ATI card, error 0x00000116

q9450 @ 3GHz; 4gb ddr2-800; evga 750i ftw; rosewill 950w; xfx 5850.

dx9 load times = normal
dx10 load times = normal on 8800gtx, slow on 5850
dx11 load times = slow

i7 920 @ 3.8, 2x3gb ddr3 1333, 5850, wd 1tb green.
Takes about a minute or more to load a map every time.

Exactly the same :)

We should really all get a watch and time it. "Slow" loading is really subjective. I'm not the first one in a map (when I join other team members are usually off in vehicles already), but in my opinion the load times aren't that bad. :)

Timing things will allow us to see if some people are really having MUCH longer load times than other ATI users, or if they just have a different opinion. :)

DX11 = 26sec
DX10 = 32.5sec
DX9 = 15.75sec

Strange much? It loads MUCH slower on DX10 than on DX11 or DX9 for me. I tested multiple times to check. This was on servers with more than 15 people.

Specs
-i7 920 @ 4GHz (200x20)
-Kingston Hyper-X 2000MHz 6GB
-Asus P6T6 mobo
-Sapphire HD 5850 OC'd to 850/1000
-OCZ Agility 60GB Boot drive
-(2) WD Black 750gb in RAID 0 (this is where BC2 is installed)
-EMU 0404USB sound card

Running Cat 10.2's on Win 7 Pro 64bit

Game settings maxed out (Full AA/AF, but no HBAO) on 1920x1080.

The load times are fine on my rig. Perhaps you need an upgrade.

The server browser is whats slow.

Loads exactly 20-22 seconds for me depending on the map. Not sure if this is considered slow or not, with some people claiming 10 seconds?

Slow loading for mas well. Have never timed it but I can easily say it is around 30 seconds. Although the 10.3 preview drivers MAY load it a little faster. Like I said I have yet to actually time it.

I can guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that it definitely loaded about 2-2.5x slower than my gtx 275 on the same rig.
