ati 4200 can't do hulu?

I know it's a lowly onboard vidcard that came w/ asus m4a, i upgraded my fiance's computer to a 620amd and got this board cuz i saw the 4200 and figured i could get away w/o a video card (she uses dual screen too so it looked good).
so i load up the asus drivers and she watches hulu and it skipps every 5s, not even on 480p settings like 320p.
the 620 is taxed 30% so i decide to try hulu-flash hardware accel, off and that did nothing still skips.
drop in the old 8800gts load drivers and hulu doesn't skip anymore again.

so is there a setting or driver i'm missing? or should i just go find a decent 4350 to pop in. (i'm sick of the 8800gts being a furnace and she doesn't play mmo's anymore just youtube and hulu)

I just loaded up an HD video on hulu...my onboard 4200 in my living room seems to handle it without a hitch at default settings. I think it's running cat 10.5a.

This is your problem. Download them from AMD directly. The newer ones support hardware flash accelleration. There is simply no excuse to still be going to a motherboard makers website to download out of date drivers.

There are instances in which it's appropriate for an OEM to supply its own drivers. For example, when the 4850 X2 came out, the reference drivers didn't support it. Sapphire's drivers were the only way to go until three or four months after release, when the reference Catalyst drivers finally added native support.

I see your point but esp with notebook makers its been pretty well a case of extremely out of date drivers for the most part. on an unsupported device its a different story of course. At the least I would like them to hold the vendors feet to the fire on updating them.

AMD now issues their own reference notebook drivers. Not sure what the problem is.

Anyway, update to the latest AMD drivers. Also update to the latest flash version as well. Many of the older flash versions did not support hardware acceleration.

Where is that setting located at? Are you using Hulu Desktop?

My Hulu box is a Athlon XP @ 2.5Ghz with ATI 9700-Pro, and it plays Hulu pretty good.

just right click on what your watching, it's just one big flash container if your on hulu.com , and no, no hulu desktop(didn't even know it was out). is an old 9700 from 5 years ago still faster than integraed 4200? idk this is the first time i've used integrated graphics really (aside from notebook).

I can watch Hulu just fine with a C2D CULV 1.3ghz paired with a shitty intel integrated graphics.

Unless you are using flash 10.1, you are getting *ZERO* hardware acceleration anyway. So definitely upgrade to the very latest flash player, and double check you have 10.1.

Also, what's the resolution of the monitor? When I hook my laptop up to the TV, even if I play Hulu at 480p it is still choppy if the output resolution is 1080p, I have to drop to 720p to keep it smooth. Upscaling isn't free

Hulu desktop has been out for like a year or two. It's pretty nice.

Panasonic, Sony, and Toshiba (the big three Japanese companies) are the ONLY ones who refuse ATi's reference mobility drivers.

Notedly, there are many ways around that.
