Apple Event Essentials

I know some people still buy its products, but I can't think of Apple as still being relevant.

you're absolutely nutter

they're extremely relevant...

but, the difference is they're on the downward slope of their relevancy instead of the upwards that they've been on for the past 10 years...

Ya, I can't imagine using their phones anymore, but they will make more cash in the launch weekend than the staff of this site, and the posters of this thread make in a lifetime.

Well, we can laugh and make fun of Apple all we want but their product releases still are front page news around the world ... love them, hate them, meh them, they are still a power to be reckoned with ... besides, do we really want Samsung to have a monopoly in phones (since there is not much else out there these days except Samsung and Apple ... the only two companies who make a profit in phones) ;)

Nice find. The sad thing is that the parody is not all that far from some Apple fanboys I know who get all fluttery and weak at the knees everytime Apple makes an announcement.

Despite the apple paradigm and hate, Apple has a real knack for taking useful features on that are already present in a lot of other phones, perhaps not widely known or even utilized, wrapping it in iOS, and making the user experience such that those various gain vocal popularity.

That being said, another year a new Apple phone is released, another year I'm still not interested in having one.

LOL! Apple not relevant, that's about as delusional as it gets. There's not a more relevant consumer tech company on the planet right now. Not an Apple fan boy any stretch but Apple is iconic with a mindshare among average people that no other company is close to matching today. While watching NFL games these last few days, every announcer that I heard mentioning the Surface Pros that the NFL is using on the sidelines now to replace the paper photos either referred to them as iPads or called them by an iPad reference. Last night the announcers even bought up today's Apple launch while referring to the Surface Pros. You just can't buy this kind of entrenchment into the human psyche.

One thing they'll always have over the rest is the amount of effort they put into their announcements. It's always a huge event.

People forget how over powering that name recognition can be ... just as every tissue is a Kleenex and every copier is a Xerox, every tablet has become an iPad (as you noted) ... people can hate the Microsofts and Apples of the world (although since the next one behind them is Samsung it is like changing out one corporate overlord for another) but they are iconic and still remain relevant (despite their missteps)

Agreed. I've never owned an Apple product and never will--company has never made anything interesting enough or compelling enough for me. Far too restricted in every respect, etc. Apple remains the hardware company for n00bs (since its founding--selling hardware overpriced and underpowered that only n00bs could love...;)) : nobody else could possibly be interested, imo.

ITT we make fun of Apple fans for being excited about a product/products ..... all the while getting all giddy when the newest video card, or SSD comes out.

...may be for noons or not. But at least they know how to update their smartphone products in a timely manner

I despise Apple, and everything about that company.

But I have to confess I'll probably get an Iphone 6 because I could never get used used to the Android OS. 2 years with my Galaxy 3 and I still don't get how to use it. I still miss the simplicity of the Iphone, and the battery life sucks too.

I will say that its a vastly superior phone in terms of hardware and functionality.

I see less and less people buying Apple in general, it seems.

At $700 its not hard to see why. And Rumor has it the Iphone6 will be $800.

If it weren't for the fact that my sub is up for renewal and I get the iphone 6 at a massive discount when I re-sign I'd have told Apple to go and f**k themselves on the price point alone.

$800 for a phone, you can buy a full gaming computer for that.

I will probably upgrade to the iPhone 6, so long as they keep a version in the current size. I have Android and Microsoft phones, but I can't stand the extra size. The current iPhone is as big as I can fit in my unintentional skinny jeans (I work out a lot and any jean that fits my waist ends up fitting like spandex). Interface wise, I like Microsoft the best. Functionality, i.e. how everything works together, iOS is still top dog. I am not saying they have everything, some of the things they don't have annoys me, but shit like text messaging works... Microsoft's kludgy text interface is a marvel of stupidity. I have lived with Android and use an android as my backup phone (HTC One), but it just a smidge too big and I don't like how it handles my contacts.

You can argue features and technology, but to say that Apple isn't relevant is just being naïve.

Yet their sales keep increasing? Odd. Maybe it's because more and more people are getting smartphones.

Apple's mobile market share has decreased significantly with the rise of Android. iPhone sales in absolute numbers are continually increasing and due to the high margins on the iPhone, Apple bay far and away makes the most money on mobile phones. Mac sales have stabilized and seen some decent growth in the last few quarters.

One trouble spot has been the iPad, with 2 consecutive quarters of fairly large absolute sales declines which has can in part be attributed to the overall slowdown in tablet sales, though overall tablet sales are still on a slightly upward trend. But again, industry leading margins on the iPad still add a good deal to Apple's bottom line. There are rumors of an 12.9" iPad to help spur some growth for the device beyond traditional tablet consumption and into the realm of productivity. That's not expected to be announced today but in early 2015.

I guess the saying is true...

Ignorance is bliss

A full gaming computer...without a monitor or any accessories.

In fairness, smartphones these days have an insane amount of mico-sized tech in them, and quite frankly the engineering boggles the mind what can be done on a device the size of a pocket calculator of old at any price point. Remember pocket calculators?

Oh,they're relevant alright, just ask all those celebrities who foolishly trusted their security,or all those groupies who are drooling over all those pictures. ;)

Why are you guys debating Apple products? Who fucking cares.

This comic is about the ridiculous fanboys. It is not about the product, nor is it about the normal people who use their product.

There is more to life, and technology, than just money.

iphone 6 was already leaked pre event.

and was anyone expecting iwatch to be anything but underwhelming?

come on.

I just realized that the iWatch doesn't look like an Apple product.

or drives, motherboard, cpu, RAM, psu...my GPU cost $700 bucks. I'm not sure why people are comparing phones to computers anyway

Apple - Products that just work and offer little tweaking ability. Great for those that just want something reliable, that simply just works.

Android et al - For those of us wanting everything, regardless of stability and also the ability to tweak it to fit our needs.

^This is the best I think one can describe the duality of phone lovers...

i dont have an Intel, AMD, or nVIDA sticker on my car... most apple fags do
