I shouldn't have laughed at this as hard as I did but I couldn't help myself.

I know some people still buy its products, but I can't think of Apple as still being relevant.

This. I forget they exist most of the time.
...another year a new Apple phone is released, another year I'm still not interested in having one.

LOL! Apple not relevant, that's about as delusional as it gets. There's not a more relevant consumer tech company on the planet right now. Not an Apple fan boy any stretch but Apple is iconic with a mindshare among average people that no other company is close to matching today. While watching NFL games these last few days, every announcer that I heard mentioning the Surface Pros that the NFL is using on the sidelines now to replace the paper photos either referred to them as iPads or called them by an iPad reference. Last night the announcers even bought up today's Apple launch while referring to the Surface Pros. You just can't buy this kind of entrenchment into the human psyche.

Agreed. I've never owned an Apple product and never will--company has never made anything interesting enough or compelling enough for me. Far too restricted in every respect, etc. Apple remains the hardware company for n00bs (since its founding--selling hardware overpriced and underpowered that only n00bs could love...) : nobody else could possibly be interested, imo.
Apple remains the hardware company for n00bs ...
I see less and less people buying Apple in general, it seems.

Yet their sales keep increasing? Odd. Maybe it's because more and more people are getting smartphones.
Ya, I can't imagine using their phones anymore, but they will make more cash in the launch weekend than the staff of this site, and the posters of this thread make in a lifetime.
At $700 its not hard to see why. And Rumor has it the Iphone6 will be $800.
If it weren't for the fact that my sub is up for renewal and I get the iphone 6 at a massive discount when I re-sign I'd have told Apple to go and f**k themselves on the price point alone.
$800 for a phone, you can buy a full gaming computer for that.

There is more to life, and technology, than just money.

or drives, motherboard, cpu, RAM, psu...my GPU cost $700 bucks. I'm not sure why people are comparing phones to computers anywayA full gaming computer...without a monitor or any accessories.
In fairness, smartphones these days have an insane amount of mico-sized tech in them, and quite frankly the engineering boggles the mind what can be done on a device the size of a pocket calculator of old at any price point. Remember pocket calculators?
ITT we make fun of Apple fans for being excited about a product/products ..... all the while getting all giddy when the newest video card, or SSD comes out.
i dont have an Intel, AMD, or nVIDA sticker on my car... most apple fags do
