AMD Tech Tour 2006

got this in my email as well. i was supposed to go to the one in Houston last year, but it's 5hrs from New Orleans. last year didn't they sell some pretty good Opteron Packages? i remember it was a great deal. You can bet it won't be an AM2 package, but i wish it was. like someone else said, it'll probably be a 939 board w/ an X2 chip, maybe Opteron.

That would be cool. I would probably just use the cpu. When all this goes public, we need the link.

I'm in for NJ, but need info on how to sign up, someone please spill that info!
 
The packages they offered us (AMD market builders) was very nice, I was able to (eventually) get in on the desktop package...so I will be very interested in what AMD has in store for the attendee's this go 'round.

Intel, Motorola, Honywell, General Dynamics and many others have been here for decades, in a big way too.

But still Phoenix gets passed by on tech tours.

Know why? 120 degrees in the shade in the Summer, and too cold to have a tech tour anywhere else in the winter.

Whoop, I just got my email about the tech tour. I was afraid I'd get blacklisted since I didn't turn in the card to join the solution provider's program or whatever.

I hate it, but I'll probably bite on the bundle again. I've been dying for some dual core goodness. I can't wait to hear about the bundle this year.
 
How did you guys get emails about this? Where do I sign up to get these newsletters?
 
The server bundle might be an Opteron. But the lower end bundle will for sure not have an Opteron.
 
i bit on the server bundle last year. im loving it.

hopefully this year, one of the bundles will be SLI ready with the dual 16x lanes *drool*

i am definately going to get the desktop bundle, maybe the server bundle.

i'll be going to the MA one.
 
I'm hoping the server bundle is worthy... I knew there was a reason I was waiting to upgrade my dually rig.
 
Well, I had to give up my server bundle last year since I didn't have the money to build one. This year, though, will be a different matter. :D

I'll also be attending the Boston one, as soon as they open up registrations.
 
Probably gonna be some CPU and mobo thats in good supply and can get for relatively cheap.
 
No love for St Louis? Ah well, KC isnt that far of a drive. Any guarantee theres gonna be bundle deals like last year?

Just be patient, none of us know yet because AMD have not released the information yet, the most any of us have been told are the dates for the Tech Tour events and the locations. However, I can say we will know soon (either this week or next, at the latest).
 
How many days/weeks before the Tech Tour did people find out about the bundles last year? And when were they able to purchase the bundles, and how fast did they sell out?

I didn't find out about it until it had been going on for a while. Once word spread around the net, they sold out pretty quickly.

It said in the email that it will be next week before we find out anything else.
 
I have a feeling they're not going to make the bundles so available this time around... They probably saw all the ones people turned around and sold for profit...
