I got the email too, here it is: http://js.antinoc.net/amdtechtour_email2.html

Don't pass that link around outside this forum or I'll have to take it down, which I don't really want to.

To reiterate what has been said above, per the software. Last year, both Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 and Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 were marked as "Not For Resale", also the Small Business Server came with zero (0) client licences, which means it is really for system builders to test out system configurations, NOT to actually run it as a server; it probably violates the EULA of doom. If you try to sell this on eBay, they'll cancel the auction... I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to sell it in FS/T here, but read the rules to verify. I wound up giving my SBS copy to a SysAdmin friend of mine to run tests with.

Bundle 1 - $623*

Bundle 2 - $518*

*Prices from pricewatch.com rounded up to the nearest dollar; Small Business Server is not listed, because you are probably not going to get a full version of it; ie you're not allowed to use the software to run your small business... it is for development only. If you really want the price it is $229.

Bah, you beat me to it. Was just gonna post the same thing I got in my email. I also couldn't find any more information.

Do you need any ticket or any thing or just go. But where exactly in Washington DC?

Arlington Heights, IL...

Hmm, must be at the Race Course.
This time I just may go. I wussed out last year, wouldn't bother to take off of work.

This was super hot last year, keep us posted. Will they let anyone in the door, or do I need to cash in a few favors my IT friends owe me?

if it was like last year, you can sign up online; and if you want the bundles you gotta pay first then pickup later.

Would your typical grad student look completely out of place at one of these tours or is it more-or-less open to anyone?

no. don't forget to wear you're intel polo shirt, oh i mean amd. ;)

It's basically open to anyone. They always give away some great prizes as well. AMD cpu's, hard drives, etc and the top prize was a Alienware laptop last year if I remember correctly. I'll definately be going again this year. :D [H]ot 'lanta here I come!!

Sounds like a hot deal to me. NICE free stuff = [H]ot to me.

I went to the Burbank event last year, and I didn't even have to take off of work.

Got out of work at 5PM, made the ~70 mile trip to Burbank, arrived a bit after 6PM, got some free food, toured the exhibits, and picked up my bundle (A8N-E & 3200+).
You don't need to be there the whole day to get your stuff, nor do you have to dress in a business suit. I saw more people there who looked like they play Dungeons & Dragons rather than the suits who read the Wall Street Journal. ;)

My brother is looking to upgrade from his AN7 setup. so if they do offer an X2 bundle, I'm there!

any info on what time it is typically? I might go to the MA one, but i need to know if i need to take the day off or if it is in the evening

Definitely can't wait to see what they're offering in the bundle this year, I'd love to upgrade my 3200+ Venice for cheap. :D

Here's the question, last year, if I had the money I could have ordered something and had someone else pick it up. Still doable this year? The only one that will be going on in my area will be when I'm on vacation, and the nearest one to where I'm going for vacation is the week before I leave.

Dammint

im pissed b/c

1. i dont have my email yet.

2. im in MA, and i JUST got my last years server setup going, and now im gonna have to buy the new one :)

3. i have soo much other stuff going on in may.

but i'll be there ready to listen to all the AMD goodness :)

awesome i'll be at the kansas city event! quick question, do you have to have an email as in an invitation to go to the event or do we just show up?

If they do another bundle I'll go to the Houston one. I went to Dallas last year because of a time conflict, but Houston is closer for me and I'd prefer it. But the info presented alone wasn't really worth the trip. The bundle makes the deal.

The food made it worth it... :)

Yeah, the free food, definitly kicked some butt. Thankfully I won't have to drive to freaking NJ this year to get the food & bundles.

one of the better meals i'd eaten as a poor college student...

i'm lookin forward to the deal though...

ugh up in fort lauderdale, im in miami, an hour drive, but might be worth it for the bundles...

i sure wish they woulda kept it in burbank (5 min drive) as opposed to City of Industry.
