Like I said, pay with pp.. ordered my 165 OEM on sunday june 4th, received today Wednesday june 7th.

CCBBE 0610DPMW, awesome :) One of the best I've seen yet too. Runs Rosetta at 2915Mhz@1.35v and games 9MHz lower because of heat from gfx, I'm gonna get the top off this and use liquid metal thermal paste tomorrow.. should get close to 2.95@1.35v after that.

What chips does your RAM use repo? They're Infineon aren't they? I think i'm going to get some different RAM because i dont think these CCBBE memory controllers like UCCC memory. I've had four 0610's and just got a new one on Wednesday like you and they do great till i get up in the 2.85-2.9GHz range and then they start getting really weak even at higher voltages. I'm noticed that they're very sensitive to DRAM settings and i think the UCCC memory may not be playing well with my Optie.

It could be the dividers man... you should fiddle more with trying different dividers and bios flashes.

I know from experience what dividers can do... I have a mobo that refuses to boot windows passed 280fsb if i use a x10 multi along with a divider; on the other hand, I can use virtually any divider with the x9 multi and go as high as 350 (haven't even tried higher).

I've tried about all the dividers this memory will run on. Dividers dont seem to be the issue. I can clock the RAM down using the 1:2 divider and Core 0 still starts crapping out as soon as i get close to 2.9GHz. This one i just got i'm feeding 1.42v at the moment and its not wanting to Prime at 2.85GHz but it was a rock at 2.8 with less voltage. My last 0610 was a nice clocker as well but crapped out past 2880Mhz even with 1.45v. I would think it has to be the RAM or a DRAM setting and i know the settings pretty well on this board and a lot of the people running 2.9+ are hardly using anything more then Auto for the alpha DRAM settings. I may try to grab something with Infinion chips because they usually clock around 250MHz or so i think and will run a little tighter timings.

So are the retails from monarch 0615's??? Is their a decently sure way to get a 0615??

I think its safe to day an OEM will yeild a 0610 atleast because of how many their moving

Yesteday the code worked for the OEM 165!!!!!!!!

I guess I'll either have to wait for them to re offer a code or live with my shitty 0607

What kind of voltages are you needing for 2.8, 2.85 and 2.9?

Anyway yeah the ZX is Infineon, and performs better than UCCC because of the tight timings.. i checked back in the day with 2.8ghz CPU and different dividers (166 for uccc and 150 for infineon) with their optimal timings (2.5-3-2-6 vs 3-4-4-8) and it was 29.xxxs 1m vs 30.xxxsec 1m, infineon winning

Anyway I dont think your RAM could be holding you back. Maybe your DS/DDS (try 3/1, 5/1, or 7/1) but if you put it on a low divider to keep it near 200-240MHz with 3-4-4-8 that shouldn't limit you at all. Especially since infineon at 2.5-3-2-6 would be more stressful at those speeds

Quick question. What would be better. An Opty 165 or FX-53?

Thanks.
The "FX" series is for people with more money than overclocking skills...I have my Opty 148 at FX55 speeds using stock voltage.

I shouldn't be worried that this is OEM, correct? I looked for the differences via google but I didn't find a concrete answer.
Hi everybody, I just want to know how do you get the coupons for AMD Opteron 165 Dual-Core 1.8GHz?

The ones originally posted don't work anymore, but monarch does have quite a few OEM Optys for supercheap, and who wants to run a cpu with a stock cooler anyway? :)

I'm thinking about grabbing an AM2 setup when DFI comes out with their NF590 SLI board but i just realized that i'm going to have to buy a new cooler as well because my Zalman CNPS9500 LED isn't compatible! I see that Zalman has released a new version thats AM2 compatible but i'm not gonna pay $60+ for it.

So when is Mr monarch man going to surprise us with more of his goodness of 165 coupons? I plan on getting one soon but I cant find any codes that work! :(

I am interested in and ready to buy an Opteron 165, and Monarch has the best price plus the best discount in the world.

But I am new to the whole "coupon" thing, and was unhappy with being able to only find expired coupons from Monarch, so I wrote them asking how you could find them.

I got a response back quickly, saying basically you have to check forums where they advertise like [H]ardForum.

But I kept trying coupons that I would find, only the next time I went through the purchase process on-line the price had dropped from $327 to $276. This was with NO COUPON.

So I went around desparately looking for acoupon hoping to get an even better price. Couldn't find one, posted a few inquiries asking for current coupons and the next day the price was back to $327.

DANG ! DANG! DANG! DANG!

(smacks self in head several times)

DOH ! ! !

Anyways, was this an error, or something that happens occasionally ? Where the price drops dramatically for a brief time, before going back to "normal". If I had tried to buy at this price, would I have got it at that price ?

If there had been a valid coupon available at the time, could I have gotten an even BETTER price ?

Also, I am wondering if my e-mail to Monarch may have been why the price dropped, like the gave me the discount (tied to my e-mail address which is also the one I used to create an account there).

I ask this because if that is how & why it happened, maybe I could send them another e-mail ?

Also, I read something about coupons that sounded quite interesting, which is that they coupon codes are nothing more than the Monarch "part number" with a date code prefix. I can't say off the top of my head exactly what the format is, but it's not hard to figure out. Also I found (and also read about) a pattern to the date code, which is that the codes are released on Fridays, so you can predict when the next ones will be released.

Is this all true ?

the prices fluxuate all the time; i doubt it was in response to your email, since i saw that price too, yet i wasn't logged in to any account.

as for the rest, i dont know.

nm, I got my Opteron 165 off eBay for 269 shipped. It was only four weeks old, and the seller had receipt to show that in the auction. I'll get it faster than the monarch people can send it thats for sure. and I got it cheaper.

It's BEAUTIFUL !
