AMD Bulldozer expected for Oct release.

Now, the problem with that analogy is that while most folks (including me) expect Zambezi to be "good," or at least "okay," nobody expects it to be that good. :)

I guess the rumors are true, its probably Global Foundaries' fault that BD is late :{
More than likely that AMD is using most of the good cores they get from GF for Interlagos and Valencia Opterons, which is a smart move, because they'll make more off of each one of those than on FX chips. Definitely so, since they have a couple of contracts via Cray to fulfill.

In summary, to those out there that may not understand: This is NOT a Bulldozer design issue, but an issue with GF's processes, since Llano is affected also.

Unless BD beats the shit out of the 2600k, I don't think anyone is going to be buying these chips except fanboys...
honestly, i think you're right. Still, I want AMD to do really well. Intel needs serious competition.

I think he's wrong. Phenom II and Athlon II were a lot slower than Nehalem/Westmere, but OEMs still bought them, which will be the case for the FX series.

Exactly 18 inches from my right hand is a boxed i7-2600K that arrived a few hours ago. That box could have been a cookie tin with FX stamped on it, but AMD lost me as a purchaser for at least 24-36 months now until my new system requires replacement. And by then, Gawd only knows if anyone will be able to catch Intel on the CPU enthusiast high end. Wait, wait, wait, no, wait a little longer... for a CPU that might just be a dud and not even catch up to a 2500K... no thanks. I went for the sure thing, and I'm certain I'm not alone.

No, he said Middle-earth.
Specifically, it's located in Mordor. Feel free to walk there if you wish.

Too much pr0n?

At least it made me chuckle.

Anyways, back on topic, hope it gets out soon regardless of what the cause is. And hopefully AMD will give us a clearer picture as to what caused the recent delays.

AMD is like one being on weed...everything gets done, slowly but surely..

AMD really needs to release this because the wait and suspense is starting to get old and annoying. I think we're all sick and tired of this shit, and so far AMD has not even announced an official date launch.

+1 I already bought my next platform; I could care less about Bulldozer and even I am sick this crap.

I was thinking about it, even if it does perform like 8-Regor Chip(1mb per core) with 8 Megs of L3 cache....that could be a pretty decent jump in performance in and of itself really. Not to mention the higher speed memory it'll take and the likely faster HTT, not to mention the aggressive turbo that AMD has at least confirmed. I really wouldn't be surprised if we got Lynnfield class performance out of these chips. In fact, I think the FX-4xxx will be a performance win in it's price class (rumor says $135-$155) as it'll probably be competitive with the old i5-760s. Combined with bulldozers reported high average overclockability (5.2Ghz on air) should see it topple the old i5 at it's average Overclock of 4.2Ghz). Granted this won't make a SandyBridge owner switch over, but it definitely makes the FX-4xxx an attractive upgrade over an old Core2 or Phenom II owner, as the average OC will give a 2500k a run for it's money.

from what i know AMD is still one of parent companies of GLOFO

GloFlo was spun off because of AMD's financial troubles a few years ago. GloFlo is no longer owned and controlled by AMD.

Looks like I was right expecting X6 like disaster
Bulldozer will be priced according to best case performance vs 2500K and suck badly in games.

So 1366 owners can relax. The competition still has nothing to threaten the 2008 old platform. A mild OC even on a 920 can bring it on par with the FX line.

Not nice that BD isn't giving Intel a little competition, I wanted to get the SB-E, now I have to wait for Intel's mercy.

IF this is true and it's a big IF, I'm gonna wanna slap the next person that says... "but wait for Trinity!" AMD has lost the high end forever and I'm no longer interested in even hearing any more of the excuses of the legions of deluded fanboys. Sheesh!

The link provided by Michaelius takes it's source from a French website called CanardPC. The info should be reliable as they actually have their hands on Bulldozer.

Then it's over. Enjoy AMDs in weenieputers, grandma's laptop, and other assorted microcrap from now on. RIP AMD Performance. :(

Well, guess I am a fanboy than because AMD is what I am buying. Back in Jan. 08, I purchased a system with AMD because of a $300 difference with Intel/NVidia. (The difference between $500 and $800) Since then, I was able to upgrade from a Phenom 9500 to a Phenom II X4 945.

Then I purchased a ASRock 990FX and use the 945 still in it. (Overclocking of course.) Now, when the FX-8150 comes out, I can drop it in and go. I am a competitive runner and would like to have money to spend on good running shoes and other stuff like races.

Oh, and I just picked up about 7 weeks ago 16 GB of GSkill DDR3 1333 ram for $89.98. (The kicker is could have just gotten that yesterday for $69.98. :D ) I buy what works for me and what I enjoy. The fact is, nobody is going to be sitting around in 50 years wishing they had bought intel or amd back in 2011.

Weeth, I'm right there with you. I'm ordering a 2600k/mobo/ram/VC . I've waited almost a year now. For what? I'm still running an c2d e6400 FFS.

They should do better in servers. AMD's strongpoint was servers. Now they are on the verge of collpase there. BD is supposed to adress that.

In the desktop market, AMD was never an option in the high end in the past few years. Throughout their existince they focused on the cost conscious.

BD reflects just that, the uarch itself isn't desktop oriented but for servers. Throughput-wise it should do much better than on low threaded apps that dominate desktops.

I agree, although "forever" is a huge amount of time. :D But, i just gave 155 euros for a 1090T and suddently i don't feel sad for upgrading my AM2+ system instead of changing everything for a Bulldozer. After all the 1090T is as good as Intel's SB 2500 in video encoding, which is the only thing i care.

Yep. Looks like it's time for forums to get rid of their AMD forum tabs and just clump them under 'other cpu' tabs in forum.

Via is our only hope now. go go go VAI C7 FTW!!

LOL! :D I think AMD will do just fine, thank you very much. However, it would have done much better 1 year ago or more. As long as I see a good increase from my X4 945, I will be happy. (Just getting kind of impatient with the release though.)

Screenshot has "ENGINEERING SAMPLE 2.5GHZ". I'm not believing anything until it is out.

Screenshot suggests it's 12 core interlagos sample ;) Now we need to ask owner of that machine to run some Crysis 1 benches and then compare to i5 at x25 multi :D

Conceded, but even if the real McCoy hits twice the clockspeed and that eng sample has just about everything (L2/L3 cache, branch prediction god knows what else) turned off, do you see it getting anywhere under the 10second mark?

lol
think you meant 'slowly and quite badly' (when stoned).

AMD should of kept their fabs.

agreed. the US govt. should given some of that printed money to AMD rather than to those wall st. wankers. at least they (AMD) make a 'tangible' product.

disappointing, yes but it's gotta be better than my old q6600. thrown in a wc loop with lots of rads, should perform while oc'ed quite well.
just get the damn thing out.

I appreciate your viewpoint but I'm talking HIGH END. Yesterday my 2600K arrived. I bought the fastest consumer processor on the market. If that had been FX then I would have bought it. IF these figures are correct, FX8150 does not exceed 2600K in overall performance. So what chance does it have against SB-E and IB? Zero. It's over for AMD on THE HIGH END ALONE. The rest of the market I don't give a damn about as it's not what I need.

Weeth, I'm right there with you. I'm ordering a 2600k/mobo/ram/VC . I've waited almost a year now. For what? I'm still running an c2d e6400 FFS.

All my pieces arrived yesterday and I'm expecting my mobo and RAM today. This weekend I'm building it and I'll be posting pix of my case mods in that section. It could have been an FX but for me and me alone, AMD blew it.

I dispute that they focused on cost consciousness during their existence. It wasn't too long ago that if you wanted the fastest consumer CPU in existence it was an AMD!

It makes sense given your mobo, but that's darn near the price of a 2500K and it eats the 1090T for breakfast on damn near anything you can throw at it. So if you were starting a build from scratch, it would make no sense to go AMD. IMHO, BD was AMD's last chance to trump Intel on the high end. Once Intel hits IB and Haswell, there won't be enough money in Abu Dhabi to get them to catch up.

Via is our only hope now. go go go VAI C7 FTW!!

Has your medication kicked in yet? :)

GloFo was set up as nothing more than to be Ruiz's little empire where he could suck up all that nice Arab $ while passing along insider info to Chiesi in exchange for... er... y'know! :) Once Ruiz had to run away to avoid the slammer, the place has no reason to exist, and IMHO it's gonna drag AMD down with it. I really would not at all be surprised if within a couple of years there's nothing left of AMD except... wait for it... ATI!!!!!

The thing is too.. Consumer rigs are moving towards PCI-E 3.0. Boards are coming out with it, next gen am 7000 series will be pci-e 3.0 as well as the new Nvidia cards if I'm not mistaken. Intel will be rolling out with the Ivy Bridge cpu in about 6 months or so (hopefully) that will then enable pci-3.0.

Granted, nothing is proven and nothign saysy that the higher bandwidth is actually going to benefit anything, but lets say it does.. GG AMD. I mean, they have been working on this CPU for 3 years.. only to become last gen hardware in 6 months since they wont support pci-e 3.0 which the cards at that time will be.

Any high end builders will automatically go with Intel just for that reason alone. yeah.. AMD looks like it shot itself in the foot EVEN IF their new processors do out perform the intel ones now (by a small margin if at all i believe), that advantage will be VERY short lived.

I haven't built an AMD computer since my old Athlon system --however-- I was hoping Bulldozer would be some good competition for Intel so that prices would be adjusted.

This is really turning out to be a poor showing for a desktop release. People have been sitting on these mediocre 990fx boards for months and the only news has been rumors of bad news.

Screw this. I want benchmarks from a reliable source, I want them on final silicon, I want to see the fucking box the CPU came in in at least one picture, and right this second I want an i7/990x so I don't even have to worry about it any longer...

Yeah really short lived like a month... SB-E is out in mid-Nov. A rack of FX8150s would likely not match up with an i7-3960X. Adieu, AMD. :(

I agree though that
