Hello there, I'm happily running an AGP system.
It still does everything I want it to and I really can't complain too much. There are a few things I wish I could change, but I do not see the need to upgrade the entire system. Apart from making it quieter, the only two changes I would make are to replace the Newcastle 3400+ with a Venice core and the 9800pro with a 7600GT. In the first case, I am unable to find any Venice cores. They only seem to be shipping Palermos in Europe where I am. The 7600GT will eventually replace the 9800pro, but in 6 months at the earliest. It's a card that requires little power and will deliver more than I need.
For me it's as simple as, if it makes me happy, then there's no reason to upgrade. Long live AGP!
Hey Romo - I thought I'd pass along a little tid-bit of info to you: The Palermo core and the Venice core are one and the same - the only difference is in the amount of L2 cache (if perhaps you didn't already know ). Otherwise the architecture is identical. So if you can find a Palermo Sempron with 256kb of L2 cache you'll be ok. They are quite fast and overclock very, very well.
