A64 OC Database & Overclock Guide

Hope its okay to ask here, but as I wait for my CPU/mobo I decided to do some reading... I think I can expect a 146 cabye from monarch that shipped out today so when I figure it all out ill contribute though I see many so it might be unnecssary.

If I have normal ram aka economy stuff I think mushkin 3200 will that severely limit me? (In all honesty I dont know if it can even run at 200mhz because I run at 166 and when I push the cpu up to 185 I bsod... maybe it was a CPU limit who knows)

From what I can see right now, the memory divider is very important in setting the RAM speed in respect to the CPU so ram wouldnt be as big of a deal then hopefully.

The HTT is analogus to FSB overclocking on the SocketA platform except it doesnt actually modify the ram speed. But if the HTT is a multiplier to the FSB how can it not effect performance in the end? I assume that multiplier different from the CPU multiplier?

maybe it will all just make sence when I get it and start tweaking.

I just know my potential limitations out of the box, economical limitations pointed me to an Asrock mobo, so I am limited to almost stock CPU voltages or slightly higher only (aware of mods). The ram I know is econo stuff... not your $150 memory :p and lastly I will not have a clockgen program :( really dissapointed about that because I really like it. So *hopefully* with those limitations I can hit 2.5ghz at 2.5 I will be happy.

Did you go to Mushkin site and check to see if this memory is compatable with your board?
They do have a configuration program now.

I have an Opteron 144 and I'm trying to follow this guide but right off the bat I cannot locate the settings in my bios.. I started at the beginning of the instructions where it shows to make changes to the HT link multi, CPU multi, and RAM divider but cannot locate those in my bios. I am running on the latrest ASUS a8n32-sli.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

you have my opteron 144. here's how it scales with voltage if you can keep temps low enough :D
http://eclipseoc.com/index.php?id=3,29,0,0,1,0

also.. the guide was written mostly for DFI nf4's. all the options will be there, just labeled differently and in different locations. i can probably go through em all and try to interpret what they do for you if you can't figure some of em out ;)

That would be great, I really appreciate any help I can get! I forgot to mention I am running 2x1gb corsair twinx2048-3500llpro memory, here's some specs on it too:
Speed DDR 433 (PC 3500)
Cas Latency 2
Timing 2-3-2-6
Voltage 2.75V
ECC No
Unbuffered
Yes

Just installed my opteron 170.
Overclocked to 2.5ghz. Wanted 2.6 but I think its the temp holding me back. Temp3 in speedfan was over 60c at 1.43 volts. Running retail heatsink. Still stability testing 2.5 right now with prime95. Heatpipes on the retail heatsink are only warm to the touch... doesn't feel like 50c. I do have a xp90... might install it. Just requires me to take out the mobo to change the plates, a lot of work. Thoughts?

OSA170DAA6CD
CCBWE 0536MPMW
1.4125 volts
2505mhz

Edit: update after stability testing, vcore now 1.425 for 2.5ghz. Would run fine at 1.4125 until I ran 2 folding threads and then add rthdribl on top. Just means my power supply tad weak on 12v rail.

heres my final 24/7 OC. I posted way back a long time ago, but never got put up on the results. Here are my final ones. 2650 @ 1.43 Vcore running 1:1 with OCZ Platinum EB 2GB. As you see my full load temp is 39C with a Coolermaster Hyper 6.

By the way, i just checked the database and specs for my old 3700 San Diego have been changed. It now says 2600 @ 1.4Vcore when actually it was running 2500 @ 1.48Vcore as it was a crappy OCer...

I fount somethign intresting yesterday on ym day off. My chip (KABYE 3700+) takes a healthy 1.55v to run 2.8Ghz stable and run not prime stable 3.0Ghz. That pretty good, but not real good compared to other doing it on 1.4v.

But i found that my chip will run 2.6Ghz at 1.3v. It ran prime95 for 13 hours on it. The fan was running 6v via my fan controller the entire time. The BIOS read 32c, and my thermal sensor read 36.5c next to the core. Anythign above 2.63Ghz needed more than 1.475v to run.

I may just leave it at 2.6 and enjoy the sound of my HDDs, not my Fans...

Thus far the best I've been able to accomplish is this

ADA4400DAA6CD
CCBWE 0522 TPMW

2505 Mhz
@ 1.28 Vcore on air 44C dual Prime temp
SP2004 Stable 18 hours both cores Small FFT's and another 9 hours on blend
Stock heatpipe HSF cooling.

Hey Eclipse...my answer for the part below

Opteron 148 CABYE stepping

OSA148DAA5BN
CABYE 0528GPMW
*******G50066

It was on water. Temps were in the low 50s (52-54C) underload and 38C idle. I no longer have it.

Here is my new contribution:

Opterton 148 CABNE stepping with IHS removed:

OSA148DAA5BN
CABNE 0528GPMW
*******G50259

3036Mhz @1.54V (shown on MBM) on water (Swiftech STORM)
Temp: 44C underload and 34C idle w/ ambient 26C.
Dual prime stable (Blend and Small FFTs concurrently) for 24hrs.

Time to make my contribution, just got it about noon today.

Opteron 148
CABYE 0543FPMW

2hr prime stable (all the longer i went before BF2 came calling me)

2.915GHZ (265x11) @ 1.53v's

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=52045

It might have some more headroom, but it failed after about 15 minutes @ 270 x 11, so probley not a whole lot.

more importantly i seem to be perfectly stable @ 250 x 11 for 2.75ghz @ 1.4v's so i think thats where i'm going to settle for 24/7 use.

All this on air with a XP90 and panaflo.

EDIT - 0083 on the batch

EDIT 2 - 9hr prime stable at 2.915,i feel pretty confident thats the top cause no way am i putting more voltage through it.

come on guys, where are all the dual core Opterons!

I'll be getting one very soon... I wish the 180s clocked higher than they did.. hrm... a 3ghz dual core would be freakin fantabulous. :) but sadly they just seem to cost more... the 170s are really nice... sometimes the 175 clock a bit better - but it seems to be -very- hit and miss. (more miss than hit really) I am on the fence on that... but think I am sliding towards the 175 side. :)

hi
my little contribution
this is my cpu

i have more but now i havent here the pic because my mobo is dead
the system was
dfi nf4 sli-d
opteron 146
mushkin redline xp4000 1,5-2-2-0 3,5v

well.. i need the settings that are prime95 stable for >3 hours, as is given by the first post.. so yeah :D

and this won't be updated for a few days, on thanksgiving vacation right now ;)

Crap I forgot to update my info.. Well I'm on water now and don't think I'm going to get much higher then 2.95. I've tried putting more volts through but not sure how much higher I could really go with this chip... My normal everyday clock speed is 2.85 @1.52v but have been playing with 2.95 but don't have thinks completely worked out yet. Yet I was happy to get 32mb stable with Gskill PC4000 2x1gig. With active cooling I'm able to get the ram to 270 tops right now. With more tweaking I should be able to go 2.8-2.85.

ok i have no problem with that
now the system isnt funcional because i have no board(dead) but i dont forget ;)
all the pics are in my disc and for now i only have yhe laptop of my girlfriend :D
but i can tell you guys
this cpu have 1 first page in XTREMESYSTEMS  with WR in OPTERON 939
HERE

Eclipse, do you plan on adding opteron 170's to the table?
Or have you not recieved any entries in this thread yet?

Just wondering

as i'm pretty sure i said earlier, i'll add the dual core opterons the next time i update the database ;)

some good news though. i talked to techhead, and he kindly renamed the thread to something a bit more managable. at the same time, i moved the winchester DB into this one, and added links to the OC guide and general OPN reference to the top of the post :D

I got my Opteron 170 up to 2.75 ghz OC using Thermaltake Big Typhoon heatsink. I ran it all night with Prime95 without errors. It is a CCBWE 0534 SPMW... could not get a 0530.

CPUZ Verified

I can run it at 2.8 ghz with more voltage but I just dont have the cooling to keep it stable.

just the week isn't enough ;)

dan, you can disregard my PM now that i see your post here :p

Heya Eclipse! I havn't been around in a while.

Just wanted to post my updated OC results for my 3200+ Venice. As you predicted, a little more burn-in time & lowering the temps prooved to help a lot. So I bought a XP90C and tossed a 92x38 Delta Tri-Blade High Speed fan on it and man, what a difference!

Currently 100% stable for 12 hours Prime95 at:
2720mhz @ 1.525v

Thanks for the advice bro! It really paid off. Gonna try some new ram in a week or two & see how far I can push a 1:1 ratio :D

ok, so another entry in here by me, my opteron 170 0530TPMW CCBWE, 2.8ghz at 1.65v water cooled

Finally got some numbers done, but of course I forgot to take a screen shot, I'll add it later:

OSA146DAA5BN
CABYE 0542 FPMW

2620mhz at 1.4vcore prime95/superpi 32m 53c load
2800mhz at 1.625vcore prime95/superpi 32m 68c load

Max superpi 1m stable: 2930 1.625vcore, 29seconds, but prime dies rapidly.

All on Gigabyte G-Power cooler (120mm fan, heatpipes), Abit AN8 Ultra MB

I got myself a 165:

OSA165DAA6CD
CCBWE0541RPMW

It's not running yet, will let you know how it OCs.

It appears that the max is: 2486 at 1.36Vcore (default voltage)

I get 2600mhz on 1.375v :) Same stepping and all. But my temperatures are way lower and I use the stock heatsink with AS5... I get 44c Load... :)

I haven't tried lower voltage, but I'll play with that later on. I think I need to reseat my hsf, as temps are a bit high. Also, I have the same videocard as you :)

My computer rebooted after finishing 3D Mark 05 at 1.35v so I set it to 1.375 and it works fine now..
Also rebooted at 1.35v during UT2K4.. but yet it played Quake 4, CS: Source, NFS: MW etc.. all fine.. and even defragged, used BitTorrent... but those 2 things made it reboot.

add to chart X2 3800 manchester, retail PIB:

ADA3800DAA5BV
LDBHE 0542UPBW
2600mhz (260x10) * (unfinished overclock 'till I redo my heatsink)
1.4v (1.392 actual)

0542UPBW is 2005 week 42, Thursday (10/25/2005) Penang, 2nd batch, unmixed silicon

*stable* proof - 12 hours on dual prime

Hello. My first post here. :)

my.php

I need to pop off the heatsink to get the code/week. Should be up by later tonight.

2700mhz prime stable. And yes temps are really off. They have to be atleast 10C higher with the amount of volts I am putting through it. Cooled by a Zalman 7000B, and it's running on a Chaintech VNF4.
I must say I didn't do to shabby for my first OC. :p

editastic: Whoops. I forgot the Validation.

Latetastic edit: Got the code finally. LBBLE 0515 FPDW.
