7970 Purchasing Thread

What time zone does amazon/newegg operate on in terms of timing for release day stuff?

Called the Micro Center in Denver earlier and they said there was no trace of the 7970 in their system, but I should call back tomorrow in case they get some delivered.

Guess I'll be F5ing Newegg/Amazon with everyone else.

make sure to get your payment info, billing address, etc. updated on Newegg and Amazon people :D

Newegg usually works off of Pacific Standard Time. All of its holiday "sales" began at Midnight PST.

when the SB cpu's were released, coincidentally exactly 1 year ago, they hit newegg a couple hours early. if i remember right i placed my order around 10pm on January 8th and they were scheduled for release on January 9th.

I've done plenty of xfx in the past, but I'm not sure if the blacks are worth an extra $50.

Crap! I forgot to choose overnight shipping! :( Oh well, at least I got in before they went out of stock.

Someone should start a 7970 impressions thread, and once you guys get all your cards, you should all post your impressions in there. :)

Just got the gigabyte 7970. I'm hoping amazon comes out with the 7970s tonight so I can cancel my egg order :)

Think I am definitely going to have to import one of these to Australia, they are up for like 700$+ :( damn you Australia, sucks hard even though our dollar is stronger than American at the moment we still always pay a gazillion more

Woot just got me a sapphire 7970, too bad I live all the way in Newfoundland and it will still take like 2 weeks to get here :(

Also sales tax, ouch!

Why is asus demanding a price premium for a stock card?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121485

$589 when all the others are $549?? Theres nothing different compared to the other brands, infact it comes with less goodies in the box. Even the warranty is less.

Asus can go suck a nut

ASUS makes quality stuff in my experience and their GPU tweak utility looks nice, allowing voltage adjustment of the card. that being said, the rest of us can just use afterburner.

I want msi!!! Do I wait?

Me too, I actually was on the final checkout page for the XFX non-stock cooling card and it went OOS when I hit submit order :(. I really want something with a beefier-than-stock cooling setup, MSI would rock or Gigabyte.
