5090 Production Halted

Who cares if it isn't in production anymore? No one that's gaming buys one for the price it's currently offered at. If you are so offended by the EOL (if EOL'd) just buy a 5080 or 9070XT. This is simply faux outrage for no good reason.

But your the guy that says the Halo card is what sells the rest. Now the Halo card is a lie and outrageously expensive if you could find one.

Wowie! 5080s are selling for $1900-2000 for base models on Best Buy. Newegg and Amazon sellers are way worse.

Uh, had a slight manufacturing malfunction. But, uh, everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you? (dies)

AMD hasn't produced anything that beats my 2022 RTX 4090, so there is no longer a need as evidenced by AMD sales dropping to 8%.
By large they are irrelevant for PC gaming, here to visualise current sales for you:

Gotta deal hunt. I've seen them for $1450 recently (a few days ago) on staples for example, and in whole PCs for $22-2500. Don't be a rube and pay full price to third parties. Be patient and watch for lower pricing on deal sites.

$2350 for the cheapest 5080 at my MC and it is a Asus Prime. The 5080 has replaced the 5090 in the stack price wise lol. People scuffed at me when I said that the 5080 will be $3k by years end. Is the 24gb 5080 actually comes out it will go over $4k.

To me it's crazy that the fastest GPU you can reasonably buy is an over 4 year old 4090.

Say 5090's hit $10K over the next month or two. How would you even sell it? The incentive to scam on something that pricey is very high. And places like Ebay they heavily favor buyers over sellers in disputes.

I'm not selling mine. I mean, it's tempting but who knows how long it will be before I'll actually be able to get a GPU that's faster than this one.

Also, 5080's are now going for stupid money, and that's quite a downgrade.

That’s the problem. You can sell, but then what do you buy? And how long will it be before things become affordable again so you can get back to where you were?

The spike in the past month has been huge across the board. Even Radeon cards are spiking sharply here now.

Wire transfer or cashier's check. I know $10K is an unusually large chunk of change in the PC enthusiast space but it isn't in many other hobbies like photography, firearms, etc.

I might sell mine if I can make a substantial upgrade to my photography gear, or enough money to visit Antarctica.

I'll simply downgrade from 4K to 3440x1440 gaming with the spare 9070 XT I have sitting on a shelf.

and with the recent compute unlocks on 20/30/40 series those won’t be reasonably priced soon

I know if I had a 5090, I'd be checking that power connector on the daily, lol. I can't imagine that PITA it would be to RMA one now or for the forseeable future. I'm somewhat paranoid for my 5080 but I haven't seen the connector being much of an issue on them and I've undervolted mine to around 250W (down from ~340W stock) with a moderate OC as well. I also kinda felt bad dropping $930 on it on sale last year as well.. not so much regretting it now. 😅

Using the 12 pin connector, there is a "click" when its properly seated. Also, my plug is yellow and once plugged in, you can't see the yellow anymore. I'd like to say they made it idiot proof, but we all know the saying when it comes to that.

They’re only rated for like 20 cycles or something, so repeatedly checking it would make it worse.

I am using the 12V-2x6 cord that I purchased with my 4090 that I paid $35 for when I got my 4090 originally. It is rated for my 5090 and have not had any issues.

Meanwhile, I regularly game on mine with full power limit set to 600W+ and 100% on the voltage slider in MSI AB with +280mhz core and +1800mhz memory. I bought this thing to enjoy my games at max graphics with max frames, not changing that. I am using the cable that came with my ATX 3.1 PS too. My 4090 PC uses the one 4-to-1 that MSI provided with it, been doing great for years now.

I just made sure they were all plugged in solid and I have not removed any of them from the PS or cards... 😅

Ah. Just saying because I read about a guy who would take it out and inspect it every few months, and then it failed.
That may have been the problem, these are supposed to be plugged in snug and tight and not unplugged multiple times. Not uncommon among high power electrical connectors, the NEMA converter for my garage dryer outlet (granted that pushes 6kw vs 600w here..) is plugged in so tight that removing it is an arm workout.

I mean we all have our risk tolerances.. some guys bust inside of every girl they're with who says they're on birth control too. 🤷‍♂️

Generally you get better performance/clocks undervolting though unless you're using LN2 cooling or something crazy like that. Lower power = runs cooler and boosting higher. Seems to be the case on my 5080 the little I've cared to played with it so far at least.

Honestly, there is rarely a reason if ever to unplug that connector over the card's service life. Once seated, the connection should stay seated.
I guess there's concern that temp cycling can make the connector loosen over time. I've double checked mine a few times by giving it a good push, not disconnecting and reconnecting.

I've got a Wire View Pro II on the way to protect my "investment".

I'm holding on to my 5090 for now, but if somebody offered me $10K, I'd be tempted. I might even include the Wire View.

I got a wire view on the way for this weekend myself. At $3500 knowing I could buy a new one if something happened vs now they are unattainable /10k+ I'm baby the hell out of it because I'm pretty sure we are not getting a 6090 if they even come out they will be $20k at this rate

Fyi my 5090 on water definitely does better at the full 600w it will stay at 3000 mhz+ in most games at 400w it's about 2600-7 and 500w is about 2800. Corse at 600w I'm around 48c and at 400 it's sub 40c. But honestly if I took after burner off I couldn't tell you because it's probably at worse 10% slower and for peace of mind that's worth it to me

Technically what I have is an under-volt, that's how the +XXXmhz offset works, it moves the curve up, so lower voltage for a higher frequency. I think what you are mentioning is what some people are calling "under-volting", but what they are doing is actually frequency and voltage capping. Which, I also have a profile for that too in games that do not need the extra power. I have that curve capped at 3000Mhz at 0.950V.

legit a non-issue. i don't even think about unless one of the posts here happens to keep bubbling to the top. Then it's just folks w/o 5090's looking to take it down a notch out of spite.

Eh, I've tried a bunch of undervolting settings but the stock voltage and 600w power limit definitely produces the highest clocks and performance for me. Although my air cooled card also maxes at 70C as I keep a cool room with tons of airflow.

Nvidia will never tell the truth that it's no longer in production, they will just claim they can't keep up with demand. However Micro Center made it clear for us, "NOT CARRIED"
It is still being made. Those dies are still being made but they are going to data centers. i am with the other guy fake out rage from you. we all know the dies are still being made but going to data centers.

Yet Nvidia will never say that is what they are doing. Just wait until Rubin sees delay after delay for the consumer market and you just get 60 and 70 series products when they finally release. Unless the AI bubble bursts, Nvidia is a AI company from here on.

They are a corporation man. What do you want from them? Well, we have decided to halt dies going to 5090 gpu in favor of the server market due to more profit. Your not going to get any company to talk plainly to you in a press release. Some times your just going to have to read between the lines. Use your brain man come on.
