The new 590 I just learned is 1.5GB total on each GPU.
Palit 580 is 3GB on the GPU.

So the Palit 580 SLI would be the way to go for a 3 monitor 3d Nvidia Surround setup ?

Edit: I want to get two Palit 580 so it can top out at 3GB which is what people say is good for 3 monitor setups.... This card is sold out. Anyone know where to buy or when it will get in stock?

Yes, if you have the money.

GTX 580 at stock clocks are clocked a considerably bit higher than the GTX 590's stock clocks. The 590 is clocked similarly to a 570. So running GTX 580 SLI versus GTX 590 SLI, the 580s will have superior performance. More ram is always useful for surround setups if you want more AA.

Keep in mind, the two Palit 3GB 580s will be about $300.00-$400.00 more than 590. Your looking at $1000.00-$1100.00 versus $700.00.

If you read HardOCP's review of the 590 in the conclusion, it seems they slightly recommend the 6990 b/c it comes with 4GB(2GB per GPU) for $700.00 and in quite a few games outperformed the 590.

Ya but in a few days I will have 3 AW2310's and I want to do 3d vision on all three monitors lol

The 2gb 560 sli would work fine too. Until the other cards come back in stock or nvidia releases more 3gb 580 models. The 590 is a waste of time imo.

Yea the 590 has 3 DVI ports which is appealing. But why did they not make it 3GB per gpu? or even 4GB per GPU. Since they know people buy Nvidia for the 3d vision or the surround or whatever which is what the product is targeted for. Probably the next refresh is gonna include a higher Ram amount. Maybe they plan to release it after they get people to buy the 590 then there gona upgrade for more ram. lol but i wish tehy didn't cuz i gota buy one soon. Dont mind waiting though

If you have 3 x24 monitors, go for 590. If you have 3 x 27 or 30 with higher resolution than 1920x1200 then 3gb 580 sRli is the way

Hard's review and PCPers review showed the 6990 to be superior is super high resolution situations such as multi-monitor.

until the hardware quality issue of the 590 is sorted out, i'd steer clear and just go gtx 580 (or make sure whoever you buy the gx 590 from has a good warranty ie: evga)

Evga is supposed to have 3GB GTX 580s heading to retail-etail in the first 2 weeks in April. (about 2-3 weeks) be ready to buy them quick though, there is little time to save as they will sell out quick. Possibly on day 1!!! Shit, possibly on minute 20!!!!

LOL :D

Two Palit 3GB cards will be faster at stock clocks and have overclocking headroom. In contrary to the 590, which may just melt away if overclocked. The 590 is more like a 570 SLI setup with a little bit more RAM and a little bit less performance.

3GB Palits are hard to find and the 590 burns itself up if you use stock cooling. So maybe you should wait a bit for the 3GB EVGA 580s.

Stop spreading FUD. Those morons overvolted their 590 to 1.2 when Nvidia explicitly says not to go much over 1.05. They burned their cards because they're morons simple as that. At 1.2, my 480GTX would probably burn my house down.

With that said, OP, if you plan to do high resolutions I'd say go for the 3gb 580.

590 is a waste of time. A 6990 would be perfect for your application. IIRC you need SLi to run 3 or more monitors.

The short answer is don't waste money on dual-GPU cards. Go SLI with 3GB cards and call it a day.

one review out of 8 different reviews tried 1.2V.

What's wrong with Palits cooler design? It keeps temps pretty good and is quiet. My last card that is able to breathe freely only goes up to ~65C under full load.

evga is coming out with a 3gb gtx 580 with life time warranty pretty soon. the last palit gtx 580 i saw was going for about 600. So you should see evga pricing around there.

got mines for 628 on amazon. saw it this morning said 2 left so i jumped on it lol

Uh.. I need to return these and go with the ones with life time warranties. with this GTX280 I'm on its 3rd RMA. I'm glad its EVGA

I couldn't cancel the order but I can refuse shipment. Gotta wait for those Lifetime Warranty.... Graphics cards dont last forever lol
