Thanks for the compliments!
Even with the internal 500W PSU powering only 1 8-pin power connector on the 590 - the tiny PSU fan is the loudest thing in the system as it is working full bore when I fire it up for gaming.
The only changes that I made to this system from when I was running the...
I had that cover originally modded for my GTX 295 and it's a bit tight at the front as you pointed out for the 590 - I'll definitely keep an eye on it and will likely open it up some more to allow better air flow - Thanks!
I have modded all of my Shuttle PC's over the past several years for...
Is this [H]ard enough?
I had a GTX 295 in this PC previously and doubled my FPS in Crisis 2 from 50 - 100 with the GTX 590. (Primarily use is for my multi monitor racing cockpit setup for Shift2 and F1 2010)
Shuttle 500W PSU + 250W Drive bay PSU installed
I ordered (3) of these monitors from Amazon for $329 ea. and chose FREE super saver shipping (5-7 day) option on Tuesday 1/4
Expected Ship date was listed as 1/12 and to my surprise I received a UPS delivery notification via e-mail that they were delivered to my office TODAY -1/5!!!!! (1 day...
WOW, very nice looking SFF case!
I have always liked the Lian Li styling of their V1000 cases with the rounded edges and brushed aluminum (but dislike their boxey SFF cases).
You guys have nailed the styling and internal layout to allow for optimal cooling - I'm very interested to see the...
I still have the SX58H7 as my main gaming rig, but only fire it up occasionally as I don't seem to have the time any more. I played through the last COH expansion pack and more recently some Dawn of War II on it and have not had any issues.
Video card temps peak between 80--85C with my modded...
I'm having a weird issue with my P5E-VM HDMI - It won't boot into Windows when I have a Q9400 CPU with an 8800GTX or 8800GTS + X-Fi (It works with either the video card and no X-fi or X-fi and onboard video). I just get a flashindg cursor after post.
Strange thing is that if I use my C2D E6400...
There are a few Shuttle models that caused me some major headaches - ST20G5 was the worst and I know there were like 3 different revisions of SN95G5, depending on which one you had I can sympathize!
I have tried just about every high end mATX case and the best performing MB's and find that I...
The Shuttle SX58H7 is based on intel X58 chipset and has (2) PCI-E x16 slots that support SLI and X-Fire. It is the smallest SLI / X-Fire system available and can fit 10.5" length video cards. The only downside is you are limited to single slot cards in a dual GPU configuration.
I was able to...
I was able to mod the JP5 block as it only has two wires: I extracted the two wires from the connector and used two single connectors that were not used in my SG03 (from the FP audio connections). I connected the two single connector / wires on JP5 and bent them over slightly to clear the video...
It gets pretty warm with the case cover on due to all of the heat from the video card....I plan on modding the chasis and cover to move the video card to the outside PCI-E slot so that half of the video card / cooler will be outside of the case. (That's how my other Shuttle is setup and it runs...
The first intel based SLI / Crossfire Shuttle is finally here!
I have been patiently waiting for the SX58H7 since it was first rumored several months ago to replace my trusty old SD32G5.
At the time of this message the SX58H7 barebone system was in stock at Newegg ($709) and MWAVE ($649) -...
There is an existing metal plate that is on the bottom of the MB that holds the CPU retention mechanism in place. If I used the NT06 mounting plate it would have to go on top of that CPU plate. I wanted the mount to be flush with the MB and go around the CPU plate, so I modded the Zalman plastic...
I7 920 Build completed!
Observations - easy to overclock in Bios to run as I7 965 Extreme @3.2ghz (have not tried to go any higher)
SB X-Fi MB: Just as I suspected....adds fancy EAX sound effects and CMS 3D Stereo expansion to rear speakers, but no 5.1 Positional Audio with Openal games...
Since it's taking too long for X58 Shuttle to become available......I picked up this board at local Fry's today
I'll get started on the build this evening: (Will probably install it in my Lian-Li V1000 temporarily so I can compare it against my P5E-VM / Q9400 system which is in my SG03)...
I've tried many different MATX cases and believe it or not the Shuttle runs much cooler and quieter with this mod than my SG-03 or Lian Li V1000.
I put the GTX 280 in my SG03 and it runs about 15C hotter even with (2) 120mm fans blowing directly onto it. I do need to lower the idle fan speed...
I have been by the forums every now and then to see what's new but haven't had the upgrade bug in a
while. I've been away painting race replica cars for Forza 2 on the 360 ;)
I was interested in that new X58 Shuttle but I beleive I can hold out for a while longer now
System Specs:

LOL - I got tired of waiting on the new Shuttle SX58H7 or the Asus Rampage GENE and decided to upgrade my trusty old Shuttle SD32G5 with some SLI powah!!!
Previously I had modded this Shuttle G5 case to run an 8800GTX and then later upgraded it to use a GTX 280.
Pretty straight forward mod...
That modded Shuttle in the pic you posted is an OLD version from several years back and would not support AM2.
Shuttle's G2 case may be more to your liking - here's an AM2 version on newegg for $169 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856101038
I have owned many Shuttle's...
I would suggest checking out the Shuttle SN78SH7. You could drop in your CPU, memory, 7800GT and PCI Audio card. The Shuttle 300W PSU can easily handle your 7800GT or an ATI 4950 if you upgrade later.
Newegg has it for $280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856101073

Hey Bro! Glad to see you are still modding away!
You wouldn't still happen to have that working EVGA NF-44 SLI MB I sold you to use for that project??? I would love to get one for sentimental value and put it in my old Fragbox :D
All of the recent dual slot NVIDIA cards I have: 8800GTS, 8800GTX, GTX 280 - the fan is barely audible even under load!
You would need a single slot card for any of the G5 model Shuttles - the new Shuttle H series model should be able to fit most dual slot cards as well as the P series...
With a little bit of creativity and minor modding skill - you can run any video card you want
With the video card basically on the outside, temps are never an issue!
Note: I'm using a drive bay PSU from Thermaltake to power the video card and used a dremel to cut the case cover with a...
I started a thread a while back with my SG03 when it first came out - I have not made any changes to it...still the same components and working great!
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1195527
I was able to get one to fit in my Shuttle with only minor mods to case cover and chasis ;)
It should fit in most SFF systems that could fit an 8800GTX (without mods) as it's the same length. From my own experience it will fit SG03, X/Qpack and SG01 (sans HD bay)
I was considering the ATI HD4870 - but they are somewhat loud. This GTX 280 is as quiet as my 8800GTX was in the Shuttle. Fry's finally lowered the price to $499 on the GTX 280's so I picked one up yesterday
I did have to dremel away some more metal from the front and rear side support...
I have both console version demo's (XBOX 360 and PS3) running at 1080P on 24" Gateway LCD monitors and the 360 version looks much better since the PS3 version appears to lack any anti aliasing.
I also had the PS3 version freeze my system a few times.....
I actaually prefer the PS3 for the...
