Got these with video cards that I bought, don't really need them. I will scratch off the code, take a single photo, email, and once you confirm receipt I will destroy the original. Either by nuking it from orbit, or by fire, whichever is most convenient at the time
Asking $45 each. Paypal...

I know the dev who found this factory installed malware, and he has more releases planned to force them to...
good point...i'll give that some consideration, but i don't think she'd stoop so low as to destroy my data
one can hope, anyway

After trying to remove it with the drive unplugged, plugged in, hot plugged it a few times, and about 100 reboots, I performed a registry edit to remove it. I then re-added the registry keys to make it re-appear in the console and was finally able to remove it. I know what I did wasn't the...
yes, everything was duplicated
all the files i'm manually restoring are visible on other drives, but WHS refuses to re-duplicate the files even though they're there
basically the only function that i would want it to perform (keep my data accessible to me in the event of a drive failure)...
I'm thinking that once I get the new solution up and running that I'll build a backup server with the 3 1.5TBs, then perform the first backup over the local network and move it to my GF's place...I can establish a VPN tunnel between the two in order to back up incremental changes.
I currently have a WHS box with the following drives:
1 400GB
1 500GB (OS)
10 1TB
8 are running on the motherboards SATA ports, and 4 are running on a RocketRaid 2310 PCI Express controller card.
I am backing up my PC backups to my domain controller(separate machine), and the rest of...
These were all several years ago when I was getting my start in IT...my ghetto modding days are mostly over now...these days it's more efficient to just buy something to accomplish the task at hand rather than spending my precious free time constructing something.
It was fun building all...
The ghetto SCSI box
Old Compaq case, mostly gutted...two PSUs wired together to power all the drives...one is duct taped to the top of the case, although it's difficult to see in this pic. Drives duct taped and stacked pretty much wherever I can fit them. I built this when I wanted to learn...
The Ghetto Fileserver
All housed inside of a lovely subwoofer box, this little number features two fans, a removable motherboard tray from some old HP something or other, and 4 hard drives stacked on top of each other with little balls of electrical tape to allow airflow between them. One of...
The ghetto HTPC
Yes, that's a standard ATX motherboard sitting sideways on an anti-static bag in an old desktop case that used to house a proprietary IBM motherboard with riser cards and a pentuim III 450. Note the cables running sideways to exit in the upper right corner over the...
that's basically it...the one i was looking at had a fan, IIRC
I found this as well

A while ago I found a cage with no backplane or hot-swap capabilities that would fit 5 3.5" drives into 3 5.25" slots...I guess I didn't save the link, and now I can't find it...it was only about 20 bucks or so, basically just a plain metal cage with a fan...anyone know what I'm talking about or...
Keeping the ever increasing heat output of today's faster and faster components in check is becoming more and more difficult with standard air cooling, especially in the GPU world...how long before your average mid to high end PC is water-cooled?
that's correct...maybe it's not actually locking it? not sure what utility would show you the actual bus speed in windows so you could see what's actually going on...
NP...maybe i should have done a walkthrough since not that many people have done this with the i7 yet, but i was really just thinking about dropping temps and OCing more :D
wow, this thread has turned into quite the debate
ok, let me give you the low down on exactly what i did
i wet sanded the entire time with plain water
i started with 600 grit and spent probably 45 minutes on that grit and went through about 8 sheets of narrow paper
i held the cpu...
A long time ago I did just this and made a small cardboard duct to direct the cool air directly to the heatsink and the change was noticeable...however the fan was on top of the heatsink, not on the side. Give it a try and see what happens...most of the fun in overclocking is in the tinkering...
