Was shopping on Amazon today and noticed a banner they had that stated 25% off IT equipment with code 'ABIT25'.
So I ordered 64GB DDR5 and Noctua cooler at crazy low price (though I did also have $100 in credit card rewards).
In anycase was a great deal to use on your next build!
ABIT25...
The card has no c-link cable requirement. The only thing you have is a usb motherboard header cable for bluetooth which is not necessary if all you want is wifi.
Tested 3 other cards in same fashion and they were all recognized with or without cables in another manufacturer machine think Dell...
Hi,
In the office we have two Lenovo m720s SFF machines. Recently purchased two AC-7260 AC1200 generic wifi x1 cards and when I plugged them in both machines failed to recognize them in Windows 11 device manager. Both times the cards were missing in action. The m720s has two x1 slots plus an x16...
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone owns the Highpoint SSD7204 raid card and if their ssd7204 shows up in a PCI device tree? More specifically if they see it listed with vendor id of 1103 and subvendor of 7204? The reason I ask is I don't see it listed in windows or with Uefi shell despite it working...
Finally got my HighPoint SSD7202 and paired it with two SK Hynix Gold P31 500gb drives in Raid 0. Each drive was like $65 on Amazon. Performance is even better than the AN1500. Took some initial benchmarks to share:
So was able to order a "new" Highpoint Ssd7202 raid card for $85 through mercari. Usually retails for $300. So now got to select two m.2 ssds and not sure if I should go with Samsung 970 EVO plus vs Pro?
Thanks
Looked at the Samsung Magician settings and no where could I find any 'disable write cache' option. Their performance mode utilizes overprovisioning to cache the data at a cost of 10% drive capacity.
Wish someone would invent a PCI-E x8 card that would take a PCI-E 4.0 NVME card and allow full pci-e 4.0 speeds on the 8X bandwidth through a marvel controller chip or something.
Well with all the noise in the office being a dental office I haven't noticed it much if at all. Also the unit is doubly enclosed one being in the cage that holds it and second the exterior housing comprised of a lot of plastic. Air flow could be better though.
Well I have an 8x slot free. The WD AN1500 looks priced right. Only thing is would have to mod it with a custom heat sink with fan as I have read it gets very hot you can burn your finger on it!
After considering all the options including an Intel 900P + 905P, the WD AN1500, The Highpoint and Sonnet cards, and a Samsung 983zet think that the Western Digital is the best deal considering for $250 dollars you kind of get the controller card thrown when you look at the price of the...
Fact is the item wasn't packaged with care. For example I just sold a video card on Mercari and at least they have the good sense to instruct people to 'pack your item with care'. I mean the item took a cross country trip from Washington State to the east coast via ground! I mean I have seen...
Well I just went into bios with it as don't have installed OS on it yet. For all I know it could die tomorrow. I mean I have seen capacitors fall off video card before and you would never know it.
I did use Paypal though.
Thanks for the recommendation! Will consider it based on dollars. Also if its the processor which it may very well be why dont all the cores go to full load? Barely goes over 40% per core.
Thanks
Hi,
Purchased a used video card through Facebook Marketplace and when I received the box I could hear the card thumping inside. When I opened the box up there were two small air bags casually thrown in there with the card sitting on top with no bubblewrap or antistatic protection or anything...
Think Western Digital makes a two disk raid card using a marvel controller chip. The AN1500. Goes for $250. Its marketed towards gamers with LED which I do not care for as will be hidden from view. Wonder if there are other raid chip cards out there.
Anyhow don't think the motherboard...
Basically for each patient there are about a dozen files opened ranging in size from like 1000kb to 500 mb to at least 1 GB . Tried using a ram drive and definitely was faster but using ram drive not ideal.
Did some research and found that Gigabyte sells a raid on an AIC card that looks...
No they’ll fix it but you have to pay $300 a month. The other reason why the tech is old I think is because it takes a few years to get fda approval and validation or patent related reasons. I can only imagine they must have to buy video cards in lots and store them away for the long haul so...
Hard to say if there was a big difference going from SATA to NVME. Been a year since the NVME upgrade. I want to say that possibly Windows load times improved but the same bottlenecks were still in place. As far as the company that built it is concerned their solution is to buy the newer version...
Well I'm not exactly sure what the file sizes are in the operation of processing dental scans. I do know that each patient case folder can be between 1 - 3 GB in size. I already had upgraded the SATA SSD to NVME but chose poorly going with a Samsung 980 (Non Pro). The system is a X99A MSI...
Hi,
Would like to improve file operations on cad cam dental scanning system to get best possible performance stuck on an old X99 rig. Considering maybe the WD AN1500 vs Intel Optane 905P. Is there a better option to max out the x8 slot? Which way would you go?
Thanks
Ran Prime95 full load and no whine or squeals. Only happens during gpu load. Not gaming though so not sure what fps limiter will accomplish. Though sounds like farts. Lol.
The psu is a FSP Group Inc 650-80UMP. Its in a dental scanning device. Despite the 650 watt rating think its max 600 watts if you add up the rails. Not easy to upgrade as the PSU utilizes a battery port in case of power failure and splices into the +5vsb purple 24 pin power plug for turning on...
Ok thanks. Will send back if not get better!
Also anyone know what this splice is all about. Looks like the psu has a blue wire spliced into the purple wire that I think is the +5vsb wire. Operations of this system rely on this wire I guess and if I get a new psu I will not be able to use it...
Hi,
Purchased a bran new unopended AMD Asrock Vega 56 video card recently for a dental tooth scanner called an Omnicam. Reason being the machine dated from 2017 was too slow and relies on gpu for processing scanned data and had to pick a graphics card from that era that would be faster and...
Looking to buy a reference Vega 56 card.
Have a MSI 1060 Gaming X 6gb willing to offer in partial trade or buy it straight out.
Just no overclockers, miners, and be in good condition.
Thanks
EDIT: Moderator please move to FS section. Sorry for mistake.
Hi,
Had electrician run displayport cable between walls for wall mounted monitor in the office however ended up with hdmi only panel and electrician refused to change it to HDMI said it was very difficult and not doing it again. So I bought an displayport to hdmi adapter and when I hooked it up...
