I'm getting a lot of mixed opinions in my research as to whether or not it's worth the upgrade.
I'd switch to an intel system if I had more cash to throw around but for the moment, I'm stuck with AMD.
System:
Phenom II 1100T
Thermalright Macho Rev A
Crosshair V Formula-Z
Asus GTX 970

I'm using a Crosshair V Formula with the AMD SB950 controller.
The system drive is a 128MB SSD with a 3 TB secondary drive that I run all my applications from. (I'll be replacing the SSD with a 500gb SSD but that's another story) What I would like to do is add a second 3TB drive and run both...
I'm using Kiwi to monitor a security network connected to several cameras. If a camera fails, it generates a log message and I have Kiwi configured to send an alert when it gets a message with the relevant keywords.
The alert mail it sends gives a list of servers and how many messages on...

The new Microsoft Flight is a heaping pile of fail.
For any of you that have been fans of the MS Flight Sim series, don't waste your time with this.
I'll start this with the only good point:
It's free to play.
Now the bad:
It's more game than simulator.
Dumbed down to console levels.
No...

Just picked one of these up from Microcenter yesterday as a temporary home for my Crosshair V build. I have to say, for the price I am very impressed. The cost at MC is $69.99 for the windowed version and $59.99 for the...
I used SysPrep to prepare an existing XP64 installation for a new motherboard/CPU/GFX card. Problem is, I stupidly forgot to insert the SATA drivers for the new board before swapping in the new hardware. This of course lead to the 0x0000007b BSOD loop.
I made a new XP64 install boot image...
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 VS Asus Crosshair V Formula.
It's been a while since I built a new system so I'm a bit behind in all the nuances of current technology. (my current setup is a Supermicro X6DAL-TB2 running two Paxville 2.8ghz Xeon processors and a Radeon X4800) I use this system for every...
Plainly put, I'm sick of wrestling with GFWL every time I want to play a game that's tied to it. The only GFWL (kinda sounds like G awful, doesn't it?) game I own is Batman AA GOTY which I purchased on Steam. I had never experienced the unholy stench of GFWL and decided to give it a fair shake...
They say the average life expectancy of an air traffic controller is like 55 years old. Not hard to see why after playing this game.

Yep, it's the notorious Adaptec embedded SATA RAID.
The board is a Supermicro X6DAL-TB2 running XP 64 bit. The drivers supplied from Supermicro are supposed to be copied to a floppy disk and loaded via F6 during Windows Setup. Problem is, I get an unspecified error and have to abort the...
The object is to get a target object to a goal zone. (think Armadillo Run here) You get an unlimited amount of building materials consisting of motorized wheels, free spinning wheels or structural links. Wood links are stronger but run into wheels and other wood links. Water links can pass...
ThIngs have come a long way since I built my last rig. Due to the numerous standards changes such as PCI-e and DDR2 I have been putting off any serious upgrades as my rig has been working too well to justify replacing everything. So now I'm finally getting ready to retire the ol' NF7-S for...
I use a biometric device to log into web sites and lately it hasn't been working on this site only. I noticed that my bioID login does not register until all of the page items load up, Thats how I noticed that this item was hanging for several minutes:

I'm pretty noobish when it comes to electronics but I can solder and understand some of whats going on here. What I need help with is figuring out how to actually put this together and make it work.
My first concern is matching the componants in this schematic with the proper pins on the IC. My...
I did see the thread with D3 at EB for $9.99 but that was for online orders and its now back to $19.99. Sam's has it on the shelf for $9.41. (at least the one here does)
FSP Group (Fortron Source) FSP350-60PN-R1 ATX12V
I went to get on my computer yesterday morning and saw the 3V and 5V systems had power but nothing else did. (USB ports had power and the CMOS LED on my NF7-S was lit) I pulled my FSP PSU apart and with a little investegating, I found a burned...
Just thought you guys might be interested in this. As of about 2am, approximately 1/3 of all COD2 servers were password locked. Many of them say "Supporting CCA." News of this has made it as far as MTV News. Whats most interesting about this is that it has never been done before...
One of my other messageboards just switched from phpbb to vbulletin and were looking for a theme as close to one of our phpbb themes as possible. I've scoured numerous template sites but I'm coming up empty.
The theme in phpbb is "Helius" and I was just wondering if anyone may know a good place...
OK, I'm spawning this thread out of a discussion in another thread because I feel it deserves it's own thread and so maybe, just maybe, a few more potential gamer victims can be saved from watching this farce.
This link posted in the other thread gives the details of the show. (credit to...
OK, With all the gaming debates that pop up here, a common point of contention is quality of gameplay. Indeed, it seems these days most devs focus on beautiful invironments and to a smaller degree, phisics than good quality gameplay. If you had to pick one game as a model for perfect gameplay...
I'm mostly PC oriented in my gaming but since I finally got a PS2 (won it from a McDonalds contest, lol) I will likely make this part of my small PS2 game collection. They need to come out with something like this for PC.

So some friends and I were having some fun on an empty server last night doing some flying through tight spaces. Oh yeah, I'm [MW]Headache
Dropping bombs while inverted:
OK, so the more I play, the more I'm starting to dislike the 1.03 patch. For starters, the random disconnect problem that was fixed with 1.02 is now worse than it ever was. In addition to that, EA managed to bork the games scoring system.
Here's what I think is happening:
When your on a full...
I just got another system up and running and for simplicity, I stuck the Console.exe file in a desktop folder that I didn't bother to name. Interestingly enough, the default name works just fine. :D

Most of this looks good but the one thing that I really don't like is no arty TKs. Arty is going to be out of control now. At least SF guys have more of a...
Finally decided to DL the demo and see if it's as cool as so many people say it is. Tried to run the game and I get nothing but a Black Screen. Read through the readme included with the demo and checked all the known BS issues with no results.

I was doing some cleaning on my main gaming rig today and stumbled upon this:
~/My Documents/Battlefield 2/Mods/bf2/cache/{D7B71EE2-0910-11CF-986E-5860A1C2CB35}_2442_3
There were 2 similarily labeled folders, inside each was over 1300 files, all with names like this...
Seems like this would make a pretty nice little milestone compitition. Obviously, this would be many months away, but it would be cool to ramp up folding enthusiasm with such a major milestone.
EA and Dice suck ass for disabling ranking on any servers but theirs. If you want to gain rank, you have to play on their servers and if you want to run a ranked server, you have to rent one from them.
You know what reason they gave for doing it? Because a few servers modified the time limits...
This was wierd.
My best folder just got done crunching through a P1477 and picked up another one immediately after. It made it to 47 (out of 100) and then I got this message:
