This is an odd one, and I've been working at it for a week.
Hardware:
Olevia 437V 37" 720P HDTV (display)
HDMI cable going to a Radeon HDMI output converter (basically a DVI-HDMI adapter with a weird pinout needed to get inline audio support).
XFX HD4650 1GB card.
I was running Catalyst 10...
OK, I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to get rid of, so here we go. I am in the St. Petersburg Florida area if anyone is interested in local pickup (I prefer this, and some items here are local pickup only due to shipping issues)
1) Dean 2008 DOA Goldtop V #11 of 50 produced
This is a very...
I'll start this off.....to drop CPU usage from 60%+ to 10% or less at idle go into services and set the "Windows Media player network sharing service" to disabled.
This service can be a massive CPU hog, and disabling it will free up to 50% of the CPU resources on a N270 based netbook.

OK, so I use SPDIF out on my onboard audio (Realtek), and I'd like to use the keyboard to adjust the volume. Reason for this is to hook my PC to my reciever of course...I coudl use discrete audio, but I have electrical noise issues with analog output, so I prefer to stay digital.
This is fine...
I'm looking to paint up the faceplate of my Veris unit so it matches the case (a PC-70 variant for those interested), and really I'm jut looking for the best color match possible.
I've already prepped the unit for painting, and know how to do it...this is just about getting the right paint...
Can anyone point me to a place to download this, or to a software package that includes it?
wootalyzer's author decided to add dll files and not ditribute them again....
I don't have enough drives around to verify this, but do notebook CD/DVD drives all use the same faceplate mounting? If not, what ones have you folks seen that are different?
Reason for this is I'm trying to buy a new drive for my Inspiron, and want to make sure I can fit the oversized...
I'm trying to fix a friend's computer, but I need the manual to check some things out.
Sadly, Abit's site is being rather craptacular right now (I keep getting DNS errors).
Serious kudos if anyone can help me get hold of that manual.
Thanks!
Yeah this is an odd one.
I was wondering if there was a way to not have IE use temp files for saving stuff off the internet.
For example, right now if I was to save blah.avi. It would save it as some strange name in /documentsandsettings/irtehsuck/localsettings/temp/ , and then after it's...
I'm pretty much wondering why we changed it so post info is on top instead of the left now?
I guess I'm too used to the old layout, but again every board I've used has the old layout. Is there any option a user has in their CP to possibly change it for their login session?
Seriously....I do like the Grado sound, and am willing to deal with it's gaming shortcomings....so which set of cans do those of you in the know think is better?
and yes, I have an amp :p
I'm getting sick and tired of the 6,000RPM dentist's drill of a fan that came stock on this mobo, but don't want to lose the ability to put a second 7800GT/with arctic silencer NV5 cooler in later on.
Problem is, the cooler cannot be much taller than stock...the swiftech and notrhpole coolers...
Yep, I upgraded my mobo (about time...the old codger finally bit the dust), and now when i get to activation, it tells me my Key is invalid and I need to give it a new key.
What the heck is that? As far as my knowledge goes this is a legit key (bought the OEM disc off newegg), and I never...
You know, for those who want the best of both worlds...a game rig, and someting that doesn't sound like the business end of a 747.
At least to a quiet computing/gaming nut like myself, it's worth it :D
I was thinking about going to an SFF since they first came out, but I've always had some questions:
First is the cooling....I am a nut for silent computing...how quiet can a gamerig built on these get? I figure I'll probably have to buy an Exos, but it's worth asking.
The next is the...
guess what, they are actually stock discman phones in a different case....no joke, just open them up take out the two screws and you have the stocker's driver assy clipped into the plate you will pull out.
So experiment time....
I cut out the cover off the driver...well apparently it was...
Yep, I'm pretty much deciding to go full-nerd-ahead and place a giant silkscreen in my livingroom for my pc. Thing is I have no clue what projectors are good, what's not etc.
I'm trying to get something that is at least on par with a typical 19" LCD display, native res 1280x1024. So...
Looking to build my next killer rig now that my roadbike is almsot finished....hey gotta find a way to dump my cash :p
Seriously though, I'm looking to go SLI on this rig, and have had little luck in my search. Anyhting that has one, or even info from the grapevine on when one will...
Well yesterday I finally got cable, and re-discovered how bad the audio was on my Pinnacle PC-TV pro....so off to the store to buy a new tuner card. It had to be PCI and preferable not use a cable for sound.
-----Note, if you are an ATI !!!!!!, and cannot handle criticism and outright...
Well, I went out and bought a Tungsten E the other week, and have been using it as an MP3 player as well.
The problem lies in this: Is there any way to make the USB synch move at any speed above serial cable speeds? It's taken over 30 mins for an 8MB MP3 to get transferred on....32MB to go...
I'm looking for a cheap (under $200) server rack. It's part of my next watercooling/get crap off my desk project. I'm looking for something no taller than 20u, since I do have to take this thing down a filght of stairs if I ever move, and it is going to have quite a bit of stuff...like...
Man, I'm geting aobut tired of strike9. I got their image hosting $5/mo package recently since my bandwidth was more than the free allowed....since then it's went downhill.
Now apparently my password is not right, and when I get my pasword mailed to me I get a blank response....ok....I'll...
I'm looking for a crystalfontz style lcd display in a reverse amber color. This color is necessary for my next project, and ive been having bad luck searching for one.
Thanks
I have the 400mhz P3 variant of the LS, and wanted up upgrade the ram. The dell manual says it can only hold 256 max. I remeber my thinkpad saying it could only hold 20 max (16mb card + 4 on MB), but was running 40mb just fine.
Can this dell LS notebook handle more ram than spec'd like my...
I'm looking to move to cable internet, SBC/Yahoo has burnt me for the last time, and my land line is used so little I can just use my cell phone and save a bit of cash if I was to go to cable.
Now for the real question....are there any cable ISPs in the area. And better yet, does anyone have...
I'm trying to replace the floppy stylized bezel and the second cd-rom cover bezel with blank panels since I don't use floppy drives and only have one CD drive.
Thanks,
Reasonn for this is to make the unit compact and or have extended battery life compared to faster units. The other is the units need less consideration for cooling compared to other units.
I'm looking to buy some slot covers, a single 5-1/4 blank and a single 3-1/2 blank cover. I tried contacting Antec, but they won't sell any drive bay covers
This is so I can remove the unneeded floppy and optical drive plates. Send me a PM if you have any. If your local to teh San Jose...
Why not mod a bay cover to be able to be pushed back on one side as the power button. One thing slicker than a clean case is a clean case with gadget factor :)
Kester "44" rosin core is your friend.
The thin pencil irons are avialible at most industrial electronic supply stores (RS is NOT an industrial electronic supply store).
Weller makes a few solder pencils you can find for cheap, can't remember exactly but I think it was around $30.
What...
ID= Inner diameter. The measurement from one inside edge to teh other inside edge.
OD= Outer Diameter. The measurement from one outside edge to the other outside edge.
For tubing it works like this:
For a barb of size X, you need a tubing with an ID of X (like 3/8 and 3/8), most gear...
