Thanks.. I think an external usb modem will be the way to go.

I have a laptop with one ethernet port and no standard phone line connection. Is there any way to either convert that ethernet port to a different connector or is there a USB alternative. I've been searching all over and couldn't find a solution on Newegg. Any help is appreciated. thanks

I resolved it by placing the hidden bootable files from the root directory of an existing OS. I was then able to boot without issue.

I just installed a clean integrated install of SP2 on a new hard drive. Spent 2 days putting on programs and when I go to shut down it wants to reboot. I tried searching but I can't find anything. Was wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows of a quick fix.. I hate to format my box...

Solution: Closed SpySweeper, the very program to protect and serve is the crippler.

I'll check for spyware.. unfortunatly it can't show which process is doing the hogging during the lock up.. but the resource meters do show an increase in memory and cpu as maxed out.
