I have a laptop with one ethernet port and no standard phone line connection. Is there any way to either convert that ethernet port to a different connector or is there a USB alternative. I've been searching all over and couldn't find a solution on Newegg. Any help is appreciated. thanks

Can use an external modem....USB or..if your laptop is older and has a 9 pin serial port, a external serial modem.
Or, if you have a PCMCIA slot available, you can get an internal PCMCIA modem.
Or, if you have a PCMCIA slot available, you can get an internal PCMCIA modem.

Just to clarify, an RJ11 plug will fit into an RJ45 jack. However, you're not looking to adapt Ethernet to RJ11, you're looking to add a modem. Depending on the laptop, your options would be to get an internal card, an expansion card (ExpressCard or PCMCIA), or an external serial/USB modem.
