I just installed a clean integrated install of SP2 on a new hard drive. Spent 2 days putting on programs and when I go to shut down it wants to reboot. I tried searching but I can't find anything. Was wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows of a quick fix.. I hate to format my box again :(

Pretty sure there's a MS KB article on this, but I'm sitting with one hand at the moment while I'm on hold.

Since this is still hanging...

If you have Roxio CD software or not, still disable automatic restarts. If the bug you have is the same or similar, you're getting a BSOD when you go to shutdown, and it's automatically rebooting as that's the default behavior in XP for some retarded reason.

Actually - the retarded reason is they tried to make there be less BSOD occurances by sweeping them under the rug and never showing them unless you force it to...

Whue! Finally found a resolve. I uninstalled Norton Ghost.. badda bing badda boom. It now shuts down.
