I had the exact same thing happen as well. It turns out I was using a PCI ATA card and either the card was bad or the cable, but I chucked them both. I did a scan and it found all of the correct movies and works fine to this day.

I just built a s939 system that had a 24 pin ATX and my PSU only had a 20 pin ATX. Before I did anything stupid, i looked in the manual and it shows to leave 2 pins on each side so the 20 pin plug does right in the middle. So, he probably has the same thing. This was a MSI board.

I think you need to look at a calender. In case you just woke up from a 7 month coma, the R300 series isn't the latest series and they certainly didn't create default settings for the r400 series by looking at the r300 series. The FX series doesn't have this enabled but the 6800 series does...
