I like Chrome, except for the fact that Adblock is neutered (it can't stop ads from being downloaded, only hides them) and there's no possibility of Noscript unless they change the way extensions work.
Noscript has saved my butt more times than I can count, and without that, I simply won't...
On a couple of systems we have when we shut the system down, we get an error from Logonui.exe and the system won't shut down until you clear the error or shut down the system via the power button. It's happened on multiple systems, but I believe only on systems running SP3.
It would be only...
That's the sort of mentality that enables the "profit at all costs" way of thinking. I'd much rather work at a company that has execs that are in it for the long haul, not the ones who structure their own pay schedules to reward themselves for making short term profits.
Gotta love the good old corporate mentality of "well, we didn't make as much of a profit as we expected, so let's fire a few thousand people...". It's not like they lost money!
Reminds me of Zorg from the Fifth Element. Same mentality of when you have that number of people on staff, they become...
Cool idea, very poor execution. The layout was not well thought out, the wiring is ugly, the tubing looks thrown in wherever, and there was no thought as to airflow, it looks like they just threw in those 2 fans when they realized it was overheating or something. I mean, the exhaust from the PSU...
Amen. The first multi-player game I ever played was Duke 3D, over a modem with my buddy.
I still load up my copy of Duke 3D with the HRP pack on it every now and then, it's still a fun game to play.
I'm hoping if DNF is canned that they'll release what they have now, sort or like how they...
Don't forget the fact that it wasn't any fun, either.
But other than the fact the game took forever, was buggy as hell, looked like Quake 1 warmed over, wasn't any fun, and didn't sell for crap, it was a great success!
Ya, I heard about that, but talk about a pain in the gluteus maximus. Why can't I just type in how many points I want, or just click the "buy 800 points" next to the buy DLC button or something?
I really hate MS sometimes.
<Rant>
AMEN! Microsoft REALLY screwed up the DLC for Fallout 3. I bought the game off of Steam (which I love!) so why can't I buy the expansions from Steam??? I've bought the last 2 expansions, and BOTH of them did not install properly, I had to search my hard drive for the ESM files and copy...
I'm sort of leaning that way as well. I looked into flashing it, but it already has the latest firmware on it (v1.06), and there was no mention of this issue in the change notes, so I didn't want to risk bricking it.
He already changed the boot order, it's stalling when it's booting into windows (at the point where the screen goes black after the logo but before the welcome screen).
I'm not sure if cleaning the lens would make a difference, firstly it's only a week or two old, and secondly he has no...
Like the title says, I'm working on a machine that won't boot into windows if there is a CD/DVD in the drive. It may boot up eventually, but the user is impatient and doesn't feel like waiting forever to find out. It just sits there on the black screen right before it shows the Welcome screen...
Those aren't new, - a company called Kantek made the exact same thing over 11 years ago, it was called the ring mouse. I should know, I bought one, used it for 10 minutes, then my arm got tired and I never used it again.
It even had the z position ability, although the only software that...
OK, so I'm speccing out a bomb-tastic 3DMax system for one of our graphic artists, and I'm looking for some advice.
First I was looking at the Intel Dual Core 3.6Ghz (not that I have any real ties with AMD vs Intel) but I'm swaying more towards the AMD side in a similar price range, like the...
Man, that demo finished just as I was getting to the heavy fighting... now I have to go buy the darn game... bastards! :D Multiplayer is crazy too... that map with the wallwalkers everywhere reminded me of playing AvP as an alien... crazy, hectic, and very fast paced.
I also have to buy a new...
What I've been trying to find is a company that custom-builds rackmount systems that aren't geared towards file/DB servers but more towards graphics capabilities (but aren't ridiculously overpriced).
Usually we just get the stuff from Newegg and build the computers ourselves, but that takes...
I'm definitely going to make a trip back someday to see / do some things I missed. I wanted to take a ride on the millenium wheel but my family was too chicken... hehe, and also wanted to go around Northern England more, and into Scotland.
I got to see quite a few different places though...

In August I took a vacation with the family to England for 2 weeks, so of course I brought along my Canon A80 (it's gettin old... but I love that camera!). Most of the pictures I took at 3MP, and resized them 50% and JPG compressed them a bit for the web, but that's the only editing I've done...
I think this is the one I'm going to get...
Sony DCR-HC42:
(Review: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-DCR-HC42-Camcorder-Review.htm)
It's got Firewire, Nightshot (with an on-off switch so I don't need to activate it manually each time I turn it on), direct DC input, AV output, so...
Well, as the title says, I need help deciding on cameras that have very good low-light performance. If the camera has a "night-shot" mode that I can use with IR illumination then that's all the better.
The camcorder will be in a fixed location (on a remote-controlled pan/tilt tripod head) in...
I was looking at the Hauppage WinTV-PVR150 card (not the MCE) to record videos onto a system (not so much for the PVR stuff).
My main concerns are quality of the recording, and CPU requirements (since the box this is going in is only a 1.6GHZ Duron (Applebred) with 256MB. If I had known I had...
OK, I think after uninstalling some old programs (that used the Windows Installer) it screwed up or deleted some DLL or OCX that Visual Basic 6 uses. Since then, when I open Visual Basic, when I open a form inside VB, or when I try and compile an app, it brings up the Windows Installer "gathing...
I'm testing out this system that's been acting funky, and using MBM5 here are the voltages (sitting idle in windows doing nothing):
Core 0: 1.34
Core 1: 2.62
+3.3V: 3.42
+5V: 5.19
+12V: 11.86
-12V: -6.93???
-5V: -3.63???

I would really doubt that the devices you have would be too much for a 430 watt, and the antec is a good PSU. I run a lot more components off my antect 350 watt without issue :)
Did these problems start happening soon after you moved the components to the new case?
My gut feeling would be that your power supply is dieing, possibly overheating then not supplying enough current for your drives/video card, but that wouldn't explain the IDE cable thing.
What power supply do you have?
While I hate to actually ask for help on computer problems, this one is really frustrating me. I have a new system I built using an Abit AA8 Duramax board, an Intel LGA-775 3.2GHZ P4 chip, 1GB of Geil DDR2 Ram, Albatron PCI-X 5750 graphics card, and 2 36GB Raptors using the on-board raid for the...
You can always sign up for stuff with a spamgourmet.com account if you don't want email spam, not much you can do about snail mail spam though. Spamgourmet gives you free forwarding addresses that you can give to a place and it will only forward as many emails as you tell it to, which is useful...
Might I suggest spamgourmet? http://www.spamgourmet.com
It gives you free, limited use forwarding addresses. You sign up there (of course they don't send you spam) select a username, say BillyJoeBob, and give them the address you want the crap forwarded to. You give mr I'm gonna spam you and...
I've built quite a few SFF systems for my company as video playback machines, and have had quite a few reliability problems with the ones we've had (like 1/2 lately have been sent back). We've been using Shuttle SB61G2s mainly, and a couple other shuttle models (like the SB51G/SS51G). We've had...
