While I hate to actually ask for help on computer problems, this one is really frustrating me. I have a new system I built using an Abit AA8 Duramax board, an Intel LGA-775 3.2GHZ P4 chip, 1GB of Geil DDR2 Ram, Albatron PCI-X 5750 graphics card, and 2 36GB Raptors using the on-board raid for the OS drive, and a 250GB Sata drive for the secondary drive (Lite-On 12X DVD burner as well).
Anyways, ever since this system has been running, it refuses to recognize PS/2 mice. It works just fine with a USB mouse, but unfortunately since this system (and 7 others) are all hooked up through a PS/2 based KVM switch (Linksys SVIEW08) I now have to use a USB mouse on this stupid system and a PS/2 for the rest of them.
The system itself runs great, has run for days on end, yadda yadda. Windows XP SP1 on it. I have built probably 30 some other systems with SP1 on them and have never seen this problem. Basically, if I plug in a PS/2 mouse only and boot up, the system just completely ignores it, and acts like there's no mouse attached. I can plug in a USB based mouse and it works fine, I can force it to search for hardware and nothing comes up. I can't find anything in the BIOS that looks like it could be disabled.
Anything else I should check, or should I just declare it a bad board and send it back (at least I got it from Newegg, but I hate to take the system down since I need it bad next week). Reformatting is not particularly an option unless it's a last resort. I tried the latest drivers off Intel's web site, those didn't help much, either. I also checked out the latest BIOS updates, but didn't see anything that looked relevant to this situation.
