Dell 43 Ultra HD 4K Multi Client Monitor – P4317Q

Looking at this monitor, over the Philips 43" offering, because it seems better, but is it? Been using TV as Monitor (32" Sony Bravia 1920 * 1080 2009-2014, Seiki 39" 4K @ 30Hz since 2014), interested in Displayport 60Hz and multimonitor capability from the same graphics card. Not many user...

    Using big displays as monitors

    I use a Seiki 39" monitor. Due to eyesight deterioration, I run it at 1920 * 1080 instead of native (3840 * 2160), and it's pretty damned perfect a monitor. I wouldn't dream of dropping down below 39" now. From 2009-2013 I used a 32" Sony Bravia @ 1920 * 1080, which is now my dad's monitor...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I had this problem when I flashed my 39" monitor with the 50" firmware -- 1920 * 1080 worked, but would go black screen every 10-12 seconds for about 5 seconds,. it was utterly intolerable. Flashing back to the 39" August 2013 firmware fixed that. I also had infrequent black screen...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I had the blanking problem -forever- with my GTX570's. (Mentioned a lot of times earlier in this thread, and no solution really 'worked'.) Asus R9-290X with 14.4Catalst drivers -- never happens. Currently running 1920 * 1080 @ 120Hz (which is really 60Hz, but it still looks smoother) since...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

39" here, I sit with the monitor about 15 inches in front of me, same as with a normal monitor (perhaps a couple of inches further away) I also have Windows GDI up from normal (100%) to 125%, otherwise reading the fonts at native (3840 * 2160) is incredibly difficult. (Windows 7).

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I commented on this before. My AMD290x does wake up my monitor, the GTX570 didn't. Whilst I was stuck with the GTX570, I implemented the free program AUTOSIZER, and set up autosizing for Firefox and my email client, then bound those to CTRL-8 (since I don't use that for anything else)...

The 2013 39" version is the latest version available. There is the 50" version which is also 2013. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that there may be a new firmware release "soon". The Seiki site is authoratative.

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I got Autosizer. I tought it to autosize my browser and my email program, and assigned a hot-key to 'resize now'. When my Seiki monitor switches back on, and the windows are all scrunched up and in the wrong position, I press the HotKey combination (CTRL-8 in my case) and Autosizer...

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I had this problem. I partially solved it by dropping my 3840 * 2160 frame rate to 29fps. My 1920 * 1080 would still randomly black out every hour or so for a few seconds. Since switching from Nvidia to Catalyst (Yay for R9 290x) I haven't had any blackouts! And there are no 'tweaks'...

My Asus DirectCUII R9-290X I ordered from Amazon on Feb 1, confirmed last Thursday, and shipped Friday has arrived (Tuesday local time) and is sitting on my desk waiting to be installed. $US603 (including delivery to Australia). Woohoo. Just so that people know, the asshattery of NewEgg does...

I wouldn't be paying $300 for an add-on board to get 60Hz at full rez. The Seiki is just too twitchy as is to warrant pouring more money into that particular hole. :)

    Seiki SE50UY04 3840x2160 50" TV ($1300)

I found running the display in VGA mode lets you run games at 1920 * 1080 without any of the mode-switching problems. As well as your HDMI cable, hook up a VGA cable to one of your DVI slots (with a DVI->VGA adapter) and then you have -two- displays to choose from. Switch displays with the...

AMD R9 290X Hits $900 On Newegg. Thanks *coin

People (especially Americans) are rarely happy unless they are tooting their own horn. Prices in Australia are less than prices at NewEgg. But R9 290/290X are STILL way overpriced.

I used to be jealous of US access to NewEgg. But this last three months has shown how rapacious/gouging they can be. Local stores (Australia) are triple whammied -- Goods and Services Tax, the exchange rate, and the shipping costs. Prices for R9 290's were $500 for the reference cards, but...

Something I've done which is possibly quite clever (or ordinary, or stupid), is to take a VGA cable, with a DVI->VGA connector, and connect that to my Seiki 39", in addition to my HDMI connection. If you go read the numbers for modern video card performance, even quad titan SLI can have difficulty updating a 4K screen at 30Hz, depending upon the title, and degree of 'ultraness' involved. Go check the charts out.

Using a TV as a monitor and nvidia, what tweaks?

The biggest problem you face, from an '09 TV, is the pixels. I went from dual monitors, to HDTV + Monitor in July 2009. I spent $,$$$ on a Sony Bravia 32" 1920 * 1080 KDL monitor, and it was awesome. I did a heap of research and this set was flat out the best thing you could get (within...
