I've had my two 8800GTS' for about 2 months now and was using the pre-5/14/08 drivers from Nvidia.
I tried updating to the newest version and simple installed them over the other drivers, but now I'm experiencing some lackluster performance.
I then tried to use Driver Cleaner, but...
Since I'm keeping the cards at 766/1952/1069 should I be worried about the effect this will have on their lifespans? Obviously, higher clocks = higher heat = more wear and tear, but is it something to worry about? Should I just change the clocks manually when I go to play a game that would...
How do you like your diamond syribo? I went with that on this build and am fairly happy with it. I just bought a 40mm scythe to zip tie to the heat sink so I can comfortably push the q6600 up to the 3.6 range.
I've gotten the card now to 772/1967/1077 stable. It hits about 69C in furmark on the one core and in the mid 60's for 3dmark06.
Does rivatuner automatically match the 2nd card to the 1st cards clock? Do I need to do something to have it overclock both cards? How can I double check that...
the case has very good ventilation. I'll admit that I haven't put a ton of time into my cables, but at the same time the case is so large that I just shove them up under the optical drive and out of the way.
I'm featuring 3 scythe 120mm fans 63cfm. One in the front of the case near the...
Hey,
I've think I'm ready to start overclocking my new pair of 8800GTS', but I'm not really excited about my temps already.
Specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127325
Core: 678
Mem: 1944
x2 (SLI)
Adjusting the fan speeds to 50% constant I get about 48C...
Wow, forgot I made this post, and found it in a search XD
I ended up just using 3dmark06 to test them. 3dmark only detects 1 card as well, but it stresses both.
vista 64bit ultimate, top two recommended slots being used, flashed to latest version of bios given from MSI. Games use both...
Hey,
I'm having a little trouble testing out my new SLI rig.
Specs:
q6600 B3 @ 3.0ghz
p7n diamond motherboard
MSI 8800GTS 512 OC x2
Corsair 800 DDR2 4-4-4-12
Corsair TX750 PSU
I have the latest drivers intalled, and I have SLI enabled within those drivers, but I still am having...
I don't like the Aero look, so stop arguing over it!
The BSOD is not an issue, it's a driver issue with vista that they fix with SP1 and had a fix before that.
I recently built my new computer, and until I could patch it up it would through a BSOD if I left 4gigs of ram in (2 sticks of 2gb). So naturally I used only one stick until I could get the patches going. Windows is eating 2gigs+ of my memory with AERO disabled! I couldn't believe it... I'm...
I have not been able to test the hard drives. The diagnostic tool off of WD doesn't want to run for me. Are there any bootable floppy versions of hard drive tests for the WD Caviar SE16 500gb?
The drives are SATA, and the bios does detect them.
Do you think I should up the voltage on the memory even more, closer to 2.8? I am afraid to do this, but all of the signs are pointing to the memory being bad, even though memtest isn't confirming this.
I'd really like ot get this...
I have one stick of ram in and ran memtest86+ for 3.5 passes, not a single error
The same problem is occurring when I try to install XP 32bit. I'm going to see about running the HD tool now because the memory looks good, and the bios flash didn't help......UGH
I've never had to flash before, but MSI support said I needed too.
I couldn't make the bootable CD work even though I used nero. It wouldn't access my cdrom to get the files off of it. THen the MSI sends me floppy boot instructions, but alas the files wont fit on the floppy in addition to...
Still no luck. I double checked the 2.1volts to memory, tried switching the SATA optical to the SATA1 spot, tried switching the 1 hard drive to SATA1, tried an IDE drive with the SATA disconected.... Same exact problem.
I ran the vista mem-test and it didn't find anything.
What's the best way to get memtest running w/out a floppy? Do they make a bootable cd?
I think the problem is the SATA optical, I'm going to try my old IDE later and report back.
The ram voltage may be viable as well :)
Thanks guys!
Built my new computer and I am having trouble installing Vista ultimate x64 on it.
Initial install with 2 MSI 8800GTS and 2 sticks of 2gb Corsair ddr2 800 failed. It boots into the cd install and then reboots without warning. After doing this for a few times it may or may not throw a bsod...
A lot of tom bashers in here. I may be falling on deaf ears, but you can't compare a GTS - the rebate with a GT at regular price. Compare both without the rebate or both with the rebate and it's legit. Toms just compared the regular prices w/out dealing with the millions or rebates. The...
That's not the point, the point is you guys are downplaying the value of the 8800gt, which is a damn good card. That's fine, but you're stating your opinions like they are facts and that isn't right. Now you're bringing personal warranty opinions into an argument about temperatures and...
Get a nice MSI that already includes an aftermarket one. Stop making up the excuses and post links to the facts.

I'm not sure how 4 days old is 'outdated'
They're prices are fairly accurate, you can get a GTS for about 250 - 30 rebate, and you can get an 8800GT for about 200 - 30 rebate. Either way, the prices are still about 50bucks apart.
From tomshardware:
The 8800 GTS is essentially an 8800 GT with a little more firepower. It sports 128 universal shaders compared to the GT's 112. It bests its 8800 GT brother, but not by much, and it's more expensive - in most cases the GT will suffice, but if you have ~$250 to spend, this is...
I have been looking to buy a few of these for my hard drives:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/03/07/storage_accessories/page5.html
The only problem is that I can't find it from anywhere online that is a somewhat reputable source. Newegg, clubit, cheif, tiger, none of them carry it.
Any...
Yeah, I missed the card for the T2R, it wasn't listed anywhere but on the specs. I really like the lanparty, but I'm just worried about the Tuniq fitting it well w/out modification.
The blocked PCIE slot is a larger deal when it is the only one on the board.
I only have plans for 1 SATA hard...
So I've come around to settling for a single 8800GTS and have been looking @ the p35 boards. I like the lanparty TR2S but am a little worried about the Tuniq fitting on it.
I wouldn't mind paying extra for the T2R, but there is a lack of audio and the one pciE slot will be eclipsed by the...
