With my apps more RAM is a way to load more instruments.
I enjoy having overhead but on Z97/Z170 boards is it better to use 2 x 8Gb DIMMs or 4 x 4Gb DIMMs....
Thanks.
On my apps I saw an increase in polyphony (voice counts) which correlates to the 4k random IO increase of 40k from my former OCZ Vertex 4s that had 75-80k.
Also use a PCI-e 2x M6e along with XP941, the M6e is where my OS+Apps are stored and it loads the thousands of RAM buffers I use much...
So they're using this MoBo to promote higher OCs on the Sandy Bridge platform, and the Ivy Bridge is being neglected...?
Whatever it takes to sell I guess.
But perhaps the newer Ivy Bridges just aren;t worth buying is what I take from this thread.
FWIW I like this board and would love to...
I beg to differ on the OC features. I will be buying the P8C WS and E3-1280, and 32GBs of RAM. The only reason I won't overclock is that the 3.4GHz speed and RAM speed is right where it needs to be for my applications.
But I have used P4 Northwoods, E8600 Wolfdales, and i7 920/930 and OC'd the...
I really appreciate the favor boss,. You just made up my mind, and oddly enough I used GSkill for the i7 rig. First time ever, now it looks like I'll get the 8GB DIMMs from them since they have a good record with me already.
Really made my week , Thanks..........
That's great news. Is it possible for a screenshot..?
I make money using PCs for live performance 6 nights a week, and know about the OS limitations, the proper voltage and quality RAM since money isn't an issue.
DRAM voltage was the factor in my current i7 rigs, but even then using 24GBs ( 23...
Does anyone here have an Ivy Bridge rig where they are using 32GB's?
Photoshop users and Pro Audio DAWs can use this, but I am having difficulty getting anyone to share some screenshots, but I have plenty of screenshots of guys who can;t get 32GBs working.
I had a similar problem on the i7...
I bet they're trying to ensure that the 32GB loads work as advertised.
Intel boards use to be my favorite, other than Supermicro, but the DZ77 is a problem with the tested RAM using 32GBs, even though it is advertised using certain 8GB DIMMs.
I figured the i7 3770k is a lower binned CPU...
The Advantech with it's cheap upwards facing SATA connectors is cutting corners and could get in the way of mid or full length cards.
IEI doesn;t have a close up, but I would ask Supermicro if they plan on releasing a mATX.
Their boards NEVER have any issues, but do lack the typical bells and...
This is exactly what I want also.
The Graphics on die are more than I will need.
Does anyone have any idea about the BIOS, and if I can jump up the RAM speed..?
From my experience, when using x64 and 24GBs on the MSI board, I had to undervolt the RAM so W7 would recognize all of the DIMMs...
They do fit into 1U Chassis.
CSE-113TQ-R500UB
CSE-813T-600UB
CSE-815TQ-R500UB
Revision K Chassis is special made for these UIOs, a slight change of an ATX is what I am seeing.
25.6" depth is too big for me. I really wish they would build an ATX version and have an OC type BIOS, even if...
I am looking to do that using 32GB's of RAM. But I don't like what I am reading about the heat when OC'ing the CPU.
Since I am green w/ OC'ing but fascinated by tweaking the BIOS, etc. Can I keep the CPU temps under 60 Cent. and have the RAM screaming at those speeds...?
My current rig is...
I am getting this for the RAM tricks where parallel access seems a great advantage for Dual Channel DIMMs.
I have one question though.
I will be using a 1U well ventillated chassis from Supermicro w/ 520 w PSU.
I am somewhat concerned that the Thermal Armor might not fit into a 1U. so if you...
The X79 is for Digital Audio Workstations. Gamers don;t really need this Quad Channel RAM, but most DAW software is poorly optimized so the extra RAM Channels makes everything much easier to achieve more instances, more polyphony, etc.
In all honesty I have a powerful DSP rack so don;t need...
I was wondering if this switch could be used in realtime.
I know its a dummies tool but in my situation using 12 or 24GB's of RAM it sometimes takes 30 minutes to fill the RAM with audio buffers to create a large Template for recording. In a recording session one might be faced with a project...
Well I have been wanting to use this board for a build but the first release had massive IRQ problems for my partner when using a PCI-e 1X Connector card for a Pro Audio 1U DSP rack. That got fixed last summer, but whenever these manufacturers are quick to launch these things happen. Thankfully...
The SSD's from Corsair are kind of pricey but there's absolutely no need for RAID 0/0+1/10 or 5 if a Sandforce controller based SSD is used.
I built a 1U based on the Gigabyte and have had some USB troubles, but a self-powered USB hub fixed that.
Once I am satisfied with the performance and...
I use the Intel DP35DP still with 3 x Scope DSP cards for live performance ( rehersals only ) and have the E8600 in it w/slow ass DDR2-800.
4GB's of RAM using the 3GB PAE switch for extra RAM utilization.
SInce my power for synths, effects and mixers come form the DSP cards, I only need the...
Thanks for this review.
I am the person that you should recommend this board to.
I am a live performer who uses DIY builds and stable older designs.
I have meger 2D needs and was hoping to read the resources used when using the GPU and how much RAM from the system was used.
For example the...
Neutrondefex.............
I didn't have room in my 4U's for RAM coolers so I thought higher latency RAM like CL7 on DDR2,etc.
Turns out that the SPD is what causes the heat.
Hynix chips with Copper sleeves are the coolest RAM I found.
Get GSkill or Patriot and go for DDR3 w/ CL9 1066 if any...
Yes Brotha' Man CPctr............Good to see you chillin like a villan..
DeFex has always blazed a trail and should be proud of his work.
I just hope my little H57's in a 1U work out alright.
It's a killer 16" deep 1U for dual MINI-ITX's each w/ 8GB's of CAS 7 1600,and 4 x SSD's.
From...
I am glad you are doing so well with the project, it looks most gratifying.
FWIW I have been following Kyle Bennets reviews since Anand Shimpli and him had their little 1 page columns in the ancient CPU magazine.....:p
I deceded to go w/ the MINI-ITX and the XITE-1 a while back so watching...
Intel has let their Tier 1 partners release motherboards w/o Intel releasing similar boards for a while now. Recent example was their X58. It has Dual Channel RAM only while everyone else had Triple Channel boards and made some nice coin with 2-300 boards.
I am sure they will be slow to...
IWS-4000........http://www.annso.com/
This case holds the Jr P45 very well, But it's designed to fit in an 8U SKB Shock Rack for ATA standards.
All proven gamers boards are great Digital Audio Workstation choices. Thanks to you guys and all of your overclocking / fps records, I can buy...
Hi,
I need to build a laptop that could use this motherboard. I will also need an eSATA 2 port PCI-e for external storage, and another PCI-e will be used simultaneously for a 1U DSP rack.
Are there any custom builders that do this type of job. I keep getting jerked around by salesmen that...

This Dog Will Hunt. But is a better suited audio solution.
The DFI is definately a great gamer as well as a fast E8600 audio solution.
I don't play games,..............I quit school in 4th grade because they had...
I read these forums to learn, but hardly post as everyone usually OC's but they provide valuable information w/ compatabilty issues, etc. :o
I use analog hardware, and DSP cards for live synth and sampler performances. I have always used the good old boring Intel combos, w/ their top CPU's...
I will buy it regardless of price.
I will also buy the QX9650 when it is released.
I will OC this puppy to run 64bit audio apps w/ CL3 DDR2.
This Dog will hunt.
;)
Will this CPU work on this motherboard?
I know this board was designed w/ the 45nm CPU's in mind, but would rather wait for my particular application to release it's code for SSE4 before purchasing the QX9650.
Thanks,
Jimmy V. ;)
