yeah, i tore my hair out using vista. I was doing a new build from scratch in febuary, and all i was waiting on was this board. built 3 times never worked with vista
wow, this thread lives on. i haven't checked it in 2 months -- anyone care to summarize? all i can remember is the grief this board caused me. I waited excitedly for a month then got it and hassled with it a month, then finally came to my senses and just went with a p5w. I couldn't be more happy...
I had the same problem with the board and I have the same RAM as you. Everyone told me to make sure to change the voltage settings to 2.2 and the timings to 4-4-4-12 and that would solve my problem. It didn't though. Are you installing Vista 32 bit?
edit: I was also using two SATA drives and...
Allright I figure out what the problem was : Windows VISTA! I guess since I was doing a new build from scratch I should've started out with XP and then updated the BIOS and drivers for my files. Anyways, my problem was solved once I flashed the BIOS to the most recent version and changed the ram...
My RAM is either bad or I can't figure out the proper bios settings. Whenever I try to install windows I get funky graphics on the screen and it just stalls. On my previous motherboard (Abit f-i90hd) it would just crash at the beginning of the windows install .
Currently my Patriot Extreme...

Buff: you are right about the ram timings, but I still haven't solved the problem. I was reading through newegg's reviews for the Patriot 800 mhz 2x1gb extreme Ram I have and a lot of others said that they weren't able to install windows (my problem) until they manually adjusted the ram timings...
The timing for my RAM is supposed to be 4-4-4-12, but in my bios I see 5 categories:
tCL
tRCD
tRP
tRAS
tRFC
I put 4-4-4-12 in the first four categories but I don't know what to place in the fifth, tRFC, it's set at 21 by default.
Thanks
(i'm using patriot extreme 2gb 800 mhz ram btw)
:sigh: i went and exchanged both the motherboard and processor for new ones. I'm getting the exact same error that's in the title again. Perhaps I'm breaking the processor when I'm mounting the NT06 heatsink....As for your suggestions regarding the Ram timings I'll have to check into what...
Can't get my board to boot with e4300 chip, keep getting CMOS checksum errors or CPU errors. I'm using both a SATA optical and hard disk drive with the original bios. Could that be the problem? Or is my processor just bad, or mobo, or both?
Just built a new rig with an intel 4300 chip and abit f-i90 motherboard, and I get this message when I boot up -- it crashes early on in Vista install everytime too.
I just constructed my new build with the Abit F-I90hd and intel e4300 chip. The first time I booted up I did not get this error but I got a checksum error that I ignore, and then proceeded to install windows vista. The computer crashed early on into the install and I get the error message in the...
Just curious, why did you pick the nt06 lite over the plain nt06?
Also I would bump the power supply up to 520 watts. the corsair 520 is a great piece.
Ok, I've made my plans, and it'll cost me less than $100. I'm driving down to south padre island for a week. I'm going to stake a tent and camp out in a state park on the beach for $12 bux a night -- they have wifi and restrooms, and according to various forums i've been too that's how all the...
Yeah I'm on the fence between the two as well, well I was until just now. I saw a quad core processor commercial that made me think that they'll be chep enough in a year or two to upgrade to. So i think I'll just go with the 4300 in the meantime.
thanks for the advice, I was considering the corsair 520 modular supply but now I think i'll upgrade to the 620 corsair but downgrade my processor from the e6600 to the e4300
hehe, I've had my sugo case for 2 months, but my build has been on hold because i've been waiting for a decent motherboard. to make matters worth i'm second guessing my decision to get a e6600 chip since the e4300 is such a monster overclocker. why did you pick the e4300 over the e6300 though?
pc6400 ram (brand yet to be determined, any suggestions?)
overclocked e6600 processor
2 dvd drive
sugo evolution case (will after market coolers fit in this case?)
My local fry's still has 13 in stock, I'm considering buying some to resale here or on eBay if there's interest. They retail for 119.99 with about 7.00 in tax, plus overnight shipping would be $15, and averaging in gas costs, my cost to deliver would be about $150. So for this to be worth while...
What processor should I choose for this board: e4300 or e6600?
I can afford both, but would prefer to save money with the e4300 if the performance boost provided by the e6600 is just marginal (with both overclocked).
I work at Fry's and the purchasing trend, among customers and my co-workers, has definitely been towards DLP's. They're larger, cheaper (in price), and last longer. And on a personal note I think the quality is better. So the decision was easy for me.
Is anyone else unable to contain their excitment for this board? I find myself refreshing this thread and Abit's site every 10 minutes. I'm overjoyed, and everyone around me asking why I'm in such a good mood -- they wouldn't understand though. I'm going tow write a poem to express my emotional...
Yes, the future for mATX is bright, but the present isn't so great. The trend in electronics has been towards smaller and sleeker devices. You would think that the motherboard manufacturers would've caught on faster.
As much as I detest the unwashed masses that plop monstrous ATX towers on their desks with no regard to style or aesthetics, I'm beginning to bemoan the fact that I can't take full advantage of my E6600 chip with overclocking so I might do the unthinkable, and switch. Am I crazy?
Yes, I loved dodging spells! I played as an Unarmed Atlan wielding characater, and whenever I took on war mages it made it so much more exciting because your reflexes were crucial to dodge and stay alive. And after a victorious fight you were rewarded wit XP and some nice loot, while your...
Yes, in Asheron's call there was actually a downside to getting killed making the dynamics all the more better. Your opponent could loot your corpse and you had to work off handicapping vitae. Games these days just try to appeal to the lowest common denominator mass market so they sell the most...
It didn't have all the hyper-regulation of WoW, like level caps, pvp restrictions (on Darktide), and lack of xp sharing with guilds. The freedom you had in the game really made it resemble real life more than any other game, and as a result, has yet to be unmatched by any current MMORPG looking...
Hello, I'm going for a complete system build w/ everything but a monitor. Below are all the products I plan on ordering. Please let me know what you think, and recommend any other accessories (i.e. better heatsinks). Thanks!
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775...
Hmm, I feel a little embarrassed now that I've read through some lenghty threads. It appears that my question is tantamount to going over the the physics.com forums and asking about a perpetual motion machine or cold fusion. HAH! Anyhow, I'll keep my eye out for the IB 90 HD ...
Looks like the Foxconn G9657MA-8ks2h might do the trick. I've read that it's possible to increase the chip frequency from 266 to 333 thus. Modest, but I'll take it as it'll boost my e6600 to x6700 speed without investing in aftermarket cooling.
