anr11 you were absolutely right!
I removed one of the dimms and it booted, went into bios and manually set the timings/voltage etc. Then switched off, fitted the second stick and it booted no problem.

Raptors are noisier when seeking than any 7200rpm I've heard, the 36 GB is definitely louder than the 74 GB. I have never fitted a 150 GB so I cant comment; however, I have fitted several 36s & 74s and have found that the noise level depends on the case youre fitting them in. As amdfan25...
