You got lucky. IIRC the 2209WA was plagued with such issues, and mine was no exception (this isn't even speaking of IPS glow). Read reviews of these monitors and you'll see that IPS and TN generally are around the same black levels, with uniformity having more to do with cost than panel type, at...
Well, ended up with the VG236, and I must say I'm impressed, overall.
This is my first TN panel in ~8 years, and the difference in static images, for example my desktop, from the restricted viewing angles is frankly pretty jarring.
However, I really don't notice this in gaming, and at...
Hey all,
I've been thinking very seriously about buying either the Asus VG236 or the BenQ XL2410Q, both of which seem to be love 'em or hate 'em types of monitors. I'm very concerned about black levels - as such I'm also considering the Eizo Foris FS2331, which has other threads in this forum...
Still haven't gotten a reply regarding the NA release of this monitor D:. Strange to me that I was told 'mid-March,' as if they don't have a set date...
Something like that XD. This seems like *the* monitor for me as I value low black levels, and it'd be an instant buy if I could find the damned thing in stock anywhere.
Are there any other quality 23-24" gaming-capable PVA panels out there?
What are black levels like, vs. the 2410? Going to be making a 24" decision soon myself, and I'd *really* like something with black levels that are much lower than those on my 2209WA.
That will be interesting to see in response to that review. I had read it a while back, and what strikes me is that they (and they state this) go for maximum heat buildup within the case, relying on whatever airflow is there to get rid of the heat. I don't think the motherboard orientation does...
Was just a guess, because several users have reported this (I myself, with an RV-02 and single 5870, couldn't be happier). It isn't just a matter of the air coming up through the heatsink (which you're right about), the cards themselves radiate a TON of heat into the rest of the case at full...
Just a guess, but these people may be comparing to a case where you have a large fan blowing across (onto the video cards). In the case of the RV-02/FT-02, air has to travel a long way for the fans to push it all the way up between two cards like that. Of course, in these other cases that hot...
I had mentioned this in another thread, based on this:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1193/1/
3rd bullet in the list a bit down the page.
I hope it's true, but now that I've looked around (this came up in a search for 'GF100 length'), I don't see it mentioned much, so... We'll see :-X...
I would also caution people thinking video cards will continue to get longer and longer... This trend isn't sustainable (and I think the HD5870/5970 could have been shorter minus the shroud). The reported length of GF100 (under 11") is evidence of this. Neither company wants to make video cards...
The point isn't to have I/O on the top, it's to have all air flow going bottom-to-top, as (others have said) heat rises. Top I/O is just a side effect, and hasn't personally bothered me at all. What HAS bothered me is the placement of the power button - I turned the system off a few times while...
I tried to wait for the FT02, but the delays have been too much, and I went with the RV02. I had also built a rig for a friend at the end of Summer in the Raven. Both builds went amazingly smoothly, cable management was easy, and I can't say enough about how good the case is as far as...
I went with a Silverstone RV-02 for my current build (happens to be an i7-860 OC'ed to 3.67, HD 5870) after having my last in a P180, and the new rig is actually a good deal quieter O.o. I leave the bottom fans on low, as turning them to high doesn't seem to make a big difference for this...
Raven RV02 (bear with me as I figure out how to post pics...)
I had always HATED case lighting, but this somehow looks good (picture sucks, though, unsteady hands):
Core i7 860 @ 3.65GHz
MSI P55-GD80
4GB G.Skill DDR3-2000 (another 4GB being RMA'd)
Radeon HD 5870
Just an fyi, I went with the RV02 (for now, I may switch to the FT02 if it looks good enough on release :} ) and a 5870, and it fits fine - although I'm not using water cooling. Everything in the case is cooled very well, even with the three bottom fans at 'low,' and the 5870 tops out at ~80C...
Seriously... Built a rig for a friend over the Summer in an RV02, and I was amazed (coming from my P180) at how much airflow there was. I don't really see how the case could be improved in that respect (granted, I've not worked in many 'high-end' cases).
I'm waiting for the FT02 (as good as...
Just call. There was absolutely no hesitation on the part of the rep I spoke to, and within 24 hours I had a (perfect, I might add) replacement. Their stock may be low, though - none are listed @ Outlet last I checked.
USB hub - use the included USB cable to attach it to your PC. Good/easy place to plug in various USB devices.
Sounds like either the cable or your monitor input is 'dead' :\. I asked because I had to tackle monitor driver issues using Vista, even though my previous monitor was also 1680x1050 -...
Just an fyi, you can lower the speed of the fan via nTune below 53%... I have mine set at 40% at it's silent compared to the rest of my system (the loudest fan I use is probably the front Yate Loon 120MM @~1300RPM).
I do wish I had room for something like that, but my CPU cooler gets in the...
From your original post, you mention that it was working fine, and then stopped working. I, and many others, have had that same exact problem (with similar slowdowns), and reinstalling the drivers (or reformatting) is generally the solution. Take it or leave it...
Nah, this is a known issue... I solved it by uninstalling all NVidia drivers and programs (NTune), running DriverCleaner (with Cab cleaner), then installing chipset drivers (in my case, the 680i drivers that came on the EVGA CD) and NTune, restarting, and installing graphics drivers. A little...
I'm using the Ninja Rev. B on my EVGA, but I haven't had problems at all (although I am using the damned stock intel push-pin style mounting), and my temps range from ~38 idle to ~45 load with the same processor at stock voltage at 2.8Ghz (depending on how hot/cold it is out). Now, I've read...
Hey, long time lurker here...
I had the exact same problem, after a day of perfect performance - framerates dropped. Framerates at the beginning of the first test of 3DMark06 are a good indication. When everything's functioning correctly, it starts at 70+ fps; in the other case, they'll drop...
