I've searched all over the Web and nothing I've tried has helped. I recently installed the Steam version of ME1 on the PC in my sig and even though I have altered plenty of .ini file settings - which made the game look even better - and tried the original, on the planet Ferros after exiting the...
I'm just a little guy who likes to do stupid things with electricity, but maybe those who own a 3930 or better CPU can submit their OCing accomplishments. I will readily admit that most of mine have resulted in absolute failure. But maybe some other worthy warriors will fight on and publish the...
Interesting that you should mention this, since I just bought DA:O during the Steam sale and quite like it. And the older graphics look pretty good since - I'm assuming - they're using the same engine as NWN.
Just plugged my old Samsung 24" 1200p monitor in and Firefox is back to working properly. So it must have something to do with the interaction of the comp and the Viewsonic monitor, even though the resolution was reset for it.
Weird.
I'm trying to find a way around this. At the first time I just had HWmonitor and ThemalRadar (in the background, and didn't realize it). Now when I just have CoreTemp running I never have an issue. It's only when I also have HWmonitor also running to show the other values that temps start to...
Native res is 1080P, which I'm running. And I only mention the SLI part because on two other monitors at the same res it appears as I expect. It's only with this combo of monitor and cards that things are different - also these cards and my old monitor displayed pages the same as other comps do...
Hopefully this time around they'll use an engine that doesn't suck on even the most up-to-date hardware. I did enjoy the beta test, especially when I was shooting other players with a handgun via the stealth unit - sorry I can't remember its proper name - good fun though.
Edit - I may have been...
This seems to work great when I game. At non-stressed levels I run in the 40s or higher without OCing. But when I game it drops to the teens in temp. This may be a glitch that I'm working with since the cores seem to stay the same not matter what, but the CPUTIN changes dramatically.
I received a Viewsonic CD3225 for X-mas and it's behaving oddly on my computer - specs in the sig. When I use Firefox 8.0.1 pages do not display as they should. On some pages, chat or simply links are cut off, such as on SI.com. On CNN.com, for instance, my login info is removed from the right...
It happened again, while DLing my Steam holiday purchases. I wasn't doing anything else but reading Sports Illustrated when my temps jumped to 123C for the SYSTIN and CPUTIN in HWmonitor and the ASUS monitors. But after a shutdown and restart everything was fine, in a minute or two. I guess it's...
That's just stupid if you live in the northern hemisphere. The Arctic Circle is much closer and for most of us it doesn't involve an undersea cable connection.
Shit, Witcher 2 is only DX9? I would have thought they'd be at 10 at least. Stupid consoles. The shots are damn impressive though. I still haven't played the original, so I guess there's no reason to skip it just for graphics - that's good news at least.
I don't know if Dirt is the right fit...
That may or may not be the reason my CPU seems to be running hotter than it should. I'll check that out later: hint, I tightened the screws while it was vertical.
Let's see if it makes a difference.
Yeah, I probably should have said I don't care a bit about BF or MW, no matter their iteration. Those are really the only constraints for this survey. I just don't care for them, unless MW stands for an amazingly revolutionary build or Morrowind. So take that as you will.
NM, I used the CD and managed to install everything, I think. At least I don't have a shitload of unrecognized devices in the Device Manager. Here's to hoping it works out, though I'm still confused why the CD worked and the DL files didn't. It may have something to do with Avast, though.
Those are some scary slow DL speeds you've got, Raja, but that could just be demand after X-mas. It took several MINUTES to DL a few megs - it took me back to my dial-up days.
Anyway, I've got a weird problem with the ASUS software. I originally installed 7 and the motherboard utilities files...
I don't know if this helps, but I installed 7 with only my primary drive installed in the Intel SATA3 port, the top one. I had no problems. Then I went back and installed all the others drives and their drivers when necessary.
Since I just installed two nifty 580s I'd like to see if DX11 offers anything new and exciting compared to 10 and am looking for a game that not only looks good but is worth buying and spending time playing.
I've got Arkham City, but with all the bugs reported I'm not sure that's the best...
You could try needle-nose pliers to tighten them more, but that really sucks. It may at least hold you over if you have to order the parts or locate a shop in your area that carries them.
While I have y'all here: what's a more reliable measure of your heat output in Hardware Monitor, the...
No, but I solved this problem by changing the power cords to the second card. You'd think a CM1200 with multiple 8x6 pins native would handle this without any problem, but it took a complete reinstall of 7 - which seems to be improving performance, so yay - then installing another power...
I installed a second EVGA GTX 580 on my system, but it won't allow me to configure SLI. I have the connector installed, which I've reseated already, but to no avail. I've tried removing and reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers multiple times, nada.
There's no option to enable SLI in the NVIDIA...
Well now it's just gotten weird. When I've used the comp, HWmonitor has lowered the CPUTIN temp to 19C (the cores are still in the 20s). Meanwhile Thermal Radar is at 25 for the CPU.
I should note that I just played a game, then reviewed the temps. So when I actually use the machine...
Should I install this on my SSD or HDD? Specs below.
I'm just curious since MW is a bitch on any system, apparently.
I shouldn't say "apparently" since I've run it on several single core systems that were far better than what was available at release. I'll just say it didn't perform well then...
Ooo, that sounds a bit pricey. I can afford the liquid helium, but the servants that go with it, and the extra parts, may outpace my budget. I may have to rethink things. Perhaps nitrogen may be a better fit? It should use less slaves at least. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks, I figured that out shortly after writing it with an solid application of logic. Good to know I was right. Is it possible to turn the screws too tight, without destroying the core and rendering it dead? I'm having some issues and can't decide if it's the device or the thermal paste - I...
I don't know if this is the right place to post this issue, but it's about cooling in some way, so here goes:
I woke up today to find my computer, which had been DLing something all night and doing nothing else in a room in the mid 60s F, but Hardware Monitor and ASUS Thermal Radar both...
Yeah, I've had to move it back to 1333 after a failure to resume from sleep. So there's stability issues there to be worked with. But I got 32GB for $150 so even if it has to run at 1333 I doubt I'll complain.
Games don't have to be on the same drive as the OS. I think that's some myth that rose out of Vista's early release info. Or maybe it actually required it. But in 7, at least, you can put them anywhere.
My new computer is working mostly great so far, but the RAM defaults to 1333 and when I adjust it in the bios it won't run at 1600. I'm new to ASUS boards, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just set it to run at 1600 in the bios - should I make further adjustments to the settings, or will it...
