LG G2: Do you use a custom ROM?

I have the Verizon model. Stock ROM ran great and had no issues with it. I run Malladus and don't really see any reason to experiment with other ROMS. In no rush to get KitKat and no reason for me to try AOSP over stock roms.

    HTPC video card

The question is really what types of "errors" and whether you will notice them. You likely won't, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Barring more significant problems, which arise from time to time and are platform specific, with hardware acceleration, I'd opt to use it since it puts less stress...

Stick with the iGPU, that's the primary reason to use that CPU in an HTPC.

Easy way to stream my XBMC library over the internet?

I just wanted a lightweight pooling solution that works well with Snapraid. So far I like PoolHD. I don't use Plex enough to justify switching at this time. I'm hoping one of two things happen: Plex fixes it on their end somehow, or XBMC finally offers a robust competitor to Plex for...

Easy way to stream my XBMC library over the internet?

It has something to do with the timestamp of file changes. On Flexraid it did not work, and on the new pooling solution I'm using, PoolHD, it doesn't work either. I can only get shows to appear with a deep scan and currently there is no way to set up recurring deep scans, only the regular...

Easy way to stream my XBMC library over the internet?

The plex server software runs on my server so they are local drives. Plex can't handle any kind of pooling software. You have to run a deep scan manually every time. It's well documented but as far as I know no fix is ETA.

Easy way to stream my XBMC library over the internet?

Yeah, Plex is not the universal swiss army knife app we all want it to be for mobile streaming. It has a good concept and decent support but the music section is completely underdeveloped right now and is missing basic features. Furthermore, if you have your files on any kind of NAS, good luck...

Moving from IOS to Android... Desktop music question

I'm a lifelong Foobar user but its support for mobile devices is nil. I've been checking out MusicBee. Has similar features for what my Foobar setup looked like and is well designed. It's not 100% stable for me though, but it does support syncing playlists to Android.

Do you play games? If so, get a Creative Z for SBX surround for games and decent audio for music. If not, you can explore external DAC/amps. Schitt Magni/Modi is $200 for both.

Help me decide between verizon g2 and droid maxx

Buttons: That's how all soft buttons work. Why would you not want a youtube video to show in fullscreen? If you want to shut off the phone you have 2 choices: (1) tap the screen, hit home and knock off; (2) hit the power button. If I am turning off the phone because I am going to put it...

Can someone help me set up surround sound?

Again, I'm just guessing based on how past iterations worked because I don't have a Z on my computer, but try this: Windows: 5.1 Creative CP: Headphones (or Stereo if there is no headphone selection); SBX On Games: 5.1 YMMV with regard to how you like SBX in certain games. I always use Dolby...

Can someone help me set up surround sound?

That article is both assuming you have an X-Fi (previous model) and also, more importantly, is for setting up a Creative headset (crappy). So ignore it. Just install the most recent Z drivers, and on the control panel, go look for a feature called "SBX". That is the successor to CMSS-3D and...

Help me decide between verizon g2 and droid maxx

For the G2, I'm not sure what you're talking about with the buttons. The G2 has touchscreen buttons, otherwise it works like normal. The buttons stay up in every app by default. Knock OFF only works on the launcher by design. When in an app, you can hit the home button and then knock off, or...

Never buy anything from Asus! No warranty on the Phoebus!

These "don't buy from X company" may make you feel empowered but, with rare exception, in this market there is no particular emphasis on customer satisfaction and so a preference for one company over another is going to be an anecdotal game of chance and/or hot potato. I say again to the OP...

Choosing a sound card, positional ques

Q701 is a very popular headphone. Major criticisms against it are that it can be uncomfortable depending on your particular noggin because of the ribbed band. For competitive gaming, soundstage titans are the AD700's (and successors) and HD598's.

What type of games do you put on SSDs

I put all my games on my SSD. I delete all my single player games after I beat them, but I'm more of an online gamer. Next time around I'll just keep upgrading my SSD capacity since they are cheaper and cheaper.

I have to agree. If you're going to go to the trouble of wall-mounting, you need to clean up the wiring. Everyone is going to notice it when you have your TV set up like that and it's easily fixed.

Yeah, less speculating, more using phones. :P The G2 display blows everything out of the water. The only reason this is a sleeper hit -- even among geeks -- is because LG seemingly sucks at developing marketing plans for the United States.

    Question about storage

Raid 1 is not ideal for storage of media as it wastes too much space. Raid 1 is good for mission critical files that can't easily be replaced, such as documents and project files (and even then, I'd just use cloud storage for that). For storing media, using parity redundancy is the best...

The LG skin is good. 99% of the annoying stuff can be disabled. It's very fast, none of the features slow it down. And some of the features are useful enough that I would not trade it for AOSP. The rest is just a bunch of customizations...half of them being the same customizations that...
