You can try to monitor your hardware and see if the "chops" coincide with a spike in utilization or a dip in frequency. If the hardware doesn't seem strained, you might want to consider an SSD if you're not on one already. They are pretty affordable these days.
Nexus made a few silent mice several years ago, but they were poorly recieved. There's also the JSCO JNL-101K if you decide against the new Logitech mice. If you have an extra mouse just kicking around, you can also try your hand at modifying the microswitches yourself.
I went from the Rival to a Zowie FK1 and haven't looked back since. I too have large hands and couldn't stand the mid-hump on the DeathAdders. The FK1 isn't actually wide in the middle and front-narrow, but I find that it works well for a fingertip-grip. It also stays straight and keeps your...
Does anyone here regret purchasing Rust? A few of my friends (myself included) are searching for a new game to play. We decided not to do DayZ because it looks pretty broken in its current state. Is Rust polished enough right now that it's both playable and enjoyable?
Changing the sharpness either way makes the image worse. My eyes are roughly 3ft away from the monitor. The pattern is strongest at higher brightness. It also appears to be worse at higher refresh rates. At 60Hz, only ~1/3rd of the pattern is visible. I hope that there isn't an issue with...
Hmmm, perhaps I should post this in the LightBoost thread, but that would be slightly off topic. Can anyone with a XL2420TE confirm not having a similar issue at the very least?
I managed to take a few pictures that mildly depict the issue. The lines on the screen are much clearer in person, especially with Strobelight on. You might have to view the pictures from a far enough distance to see the pattern.
I have been using Synergy for years now. While there might be something better out there, I haven't had the desire or necessity to look. Synergy works very well, especially over a wired network. The last time I had a keyboard or mouse hooked up to my secondary desktop was many months ago.
I recently got a BenQ XL2420TE, but I can't get over how strange the panel looks, especially when displaying dark, solid colors. There is a very patterned graininess imposed onto the image, the pattern is not unlike the following example.
The pattern is of course very small, but is...
Some of the changes attributed to burn-in comes from physical wear on the headphone over time. Changes to the clamping force and ear-pads can drastically change the sound of the headphones. As far as the drivers go, I found that certain headphones sound drastically different 20 hours in while...
Tracking on the TactX mouse isn't too bad relative to the laser offerings. Why not just stick with it? If your mouse developed the double-click issue, you can try repairing it yourself. I found the shape of the TactX to be rather pleasant, definitely better than the G9x. Ergonomics is one of...
I would recommend the CM Storm Spawn in a heartbeat if it was consistent at high speeds. The shape is absolutely godly. With the ring-finger rest, you end up clawing with the side of your pinky finger, but as the mouse is very light weight, you get excellent control effortlessly. When you...
If you type properly without bottoming out, both switches should be near silent on descent. The majority of the noise comes from the clacking that occurs when you bottom out. If you find yourself bottoming out, you can use o-rings or landing pads to reduce the noise. I find that it is easier...
If the heatsink is getting warm quickly, then it is doing its job. I don't think you need three fans pointed at the heatsink. Perhaps there is another underlying problem?
When you say they, are you referring to the IntelliMouse, the Razer mouse, or both?
Personally, I've used a lot of difference mice over the past decade or so. I would still be using an MX310 (500Hz) if it wasn't for the heavy prediction. The IME 1.1/3.0 have always been more accurate due to...
To be fair, the ST/STX software isn't very refined; it lacks polish and finesse. It looks like some kid just slapped it together on his free time. That being said, I'm usually not one to toy with the settings/features/gimmicks, so I have no real qualms against it. I agree though that they...
Only a wizard would know. If you are asking what a typical range is for your CPU on stock cooling, I'm pretty sure that your load temps are either within it, or not far off from it. If you really are that worried, I suggest you make the investment now for a piece of mine; otherwise, keep an...
The cold "humid" air quickly becomes dry air once it is heated. Even saturated air at 0C will be uncomfortably dry once warmed up to room temperature. Condensation is generally an issue when one chills the air, not so much the other way around.
I would still have reserves about bringing in...
Personally, I would be uncomfortable if I was registering at or above 70C for extended usage. I believe TCase is >72C for your processor, so 67C isn't too bad, but you have to take into consideration that the cooling might be less effective down the road when your room gets warmer (or the...
Idle temperature seems fine, but your load temperature is a tad high. If you room is significantly warmer during non-winter months, you might want to make a minor investment in cooler. Your call though; as it stands, 67C isn't dangerous.
It really depends on what CPU you have running. While it might be winter, what are the temperatures like in your room? Seeing as how your idle temperatures might be reasonable, a small investment in better case ventilation might net you better results.
No mention of the Storm Spawn? I loved that mouse so much; too bad it wasn't consistent at higher speeds. The ADNS-3050 in the Xornet isn't too special; then again, I switched from the ADNS-3090 to an ADNS-3055. I really do miss the Spawn though, but my current mouse tracks so much better for...
New != better. The Phoebus can easily be considered inferior to the ST(/STX) when sound quality is of the only concern. The ST has the better DAC, rollable op-amps, and high quality components. I would much prefer the X-Fi Titanium HD over the Phoebus.
Play close attention to the crackle next time. If the crackle is balanced (not biased towards one side), it'll rule out a few possibilities (faulty driver, hair in the housing, etc.). You can always try a different source to rule out the headphones (a portable music player should work well)...
I would have recommended OP the Samson Go Mic, but he was looking for a mute button. It's very hard to find a quality "desktop" mic these days. Even Logitech ones are pretty terrible when factoring in their cost.
I really don't see how the Zalman is still recommended in this day and age...
That would be the z-axis :p But agreed, stay away from the RAT.
AFAIK, there hasn't been a wireless mouse with a top-notch sensor in a long while. While the Avago S9500 in the G700 is "only" alright, it might be your only real option. See if you can demo one in person to get a feel for the...
Any respectable SSD should net you excellent results, especially with GT5. Not all load times are cut in half, but the improvements are substantial across the board. Menus will feel more responsive and transitions will also be quicker. I have no doubts that your overall experience will...
With a little bit of work, the AG coating can be removed. The Dell is an excellent monitor in several regards. Most IPS panels will have an aggressive AG coating. Luckily for some, the matte layer can be removed.
I never got to play too many of the fancy PC titles back in the day. My memories consist of Rodent's Revenge, Chip's Challenge, and SkyRoads. I actually loved Sim Theme Park as well, but only really played that at a friend's place.
I consider Dead Island to be a terrible but enjoyable game. It's not a good game, but it's lots of fun. For those who don't understand what I mean, it's similar to an awful movie that is highly entertaining. Quality != enjoyability.
Realm of the Mad God
I always had a bit of free time here and there, but never any free time that I could dedicate to gaming without some sense of guilt. This roguelike MMO was an exception. It was free to play, but not necessarily pay to win. I could hop on and off it at my own leisure, but...
It generally works out fine if you source the drivers for the board directly from whoever makes the specific component(s) (i.e. sound from Realtek, chipset from Nvidia, ethernet from Marvell, etc.).
I would suggest a Dell U2312HM the next time it goes on sale for <$200. The stand comes in handy as well, allowing you to switch to and from portrait mode with ease. It makes an excellent primary or secondary screen. LED backlighting shouldn't have any real disadvantages over CCFL when...
Are you running stock clocks? What program are you using to read the temperatures? Try using RealTemp and see what it reports. 50C is rather high for idle, especially given the temperatures of your other components (they suggest a low ambient temperature).
Typical computer desktop (analog) mics seem pretty hit or miss. You might be better off going with more of a semi-professional solution as they seem to be more consistent quality-wise. Don't shy away from USB for the sole purpose of making use of your soundcard. Given an equal price-point, a...
Anyone? I plan on ordering the thermal pads sometime today. I might just get a 0.5mm sheet, which should work fine on the VRAM. If it's too thin for the other components, I figure that I can always supplement with a bit of thermal paste to help fill the gaps (or alternatively build my own...
