Destiny 2

the boss in that Inverted Spire mission was pretty challenging because he has a lot of health and many different ranged attacks...that was the best part of the beta...those 4v4 pvp missions seem too much like standard CoD capture the flag...I think I would enjoy the Strike and Campaign missions most in this

I'm enjoying the pve way more then the pvp...the co-op is seamless and fun...gameplay is nothing revolutionary but it's fun...reminds me a bit of Gears of War meets Quake

Anyone getting stutter problems in game? I figure its either my vid card drivers (2 week old AMD) on the rx 480 or some setting but it started with major stuttering with the opening cutscene.

most people seem to prefer the Warlock class but I like playing as a Hunter...love the double and triple jumps...dodging is good...and that arc staff super ability is bad-ass...feels like Darth Maul with his dual blade light saber cutting through enemies

I had never played Destiny either and decided to give it a try.

It runs great and is pretty I guess, but that had to be the most bland, uninspired thing I've played in quite awhile.

The whole thing is on rails so much I might as well be watching a YouTube streamer play the game.

Hard pass and uninstall for me on that one.

I think the reason it's so popular is because it's bland and doesn't do anything different...jump in, play a few rounds, collect some loot and fashion...easy to play and co-op with friends...wrapped in a shiny package

Yep, my first thought is I will buy this if I have a solid core of my friends that play... otherwise... yeah... pass.

People have been complaing about Auto-aim in Call of Duty since it's inception.

Because we said so mentality on Reddit they just want to take the fun out of the game by nerfing everything until it was fun later on no so much. Complaining about being in 1st place in every match because he has a better sensor in his mouse. People have been complaing about Auto-aim in Call of Duty since it's inception.
You can use a tool to trick D2 into enabling gamepad auto-aim even though you're using KB+M. In that scenario it's literally an aimbot.
It's a problem atm, even if you just use the gamepad without any tricks you will have better K/D than a KB+M player, exploits aside.

It's not a "nerf mentality" issue, smart games put gamepad and KB+M players into separate lobbies.
Overwatch had the same problem during their beta and apparently Blizz fixed it by removing auto-aim entirely.

LOL data mined data files on PC..... 8:40 in the video Xur the guy is going off on a tangent saying the stuff Xur sells from agents of nine is trash. I never seen someone so obsessed with this game.

Yeah seriously, the only thing they can do that will get me interested in PVP is remove it completely. Otherwise, it's utter bullshit and a handicap to be playing without a controller or a XIM4. Totally understand that some people are more comfortable playing with a controller, thats fine - but learn how to aim. No one wants auto assist in this game, not for PC.

outside of gaming have you tried HDR with 4K Blu-rays or 4K streaming?...I just bought an LG C7 OLED 5 weeks ago and I think it looks phenomenal with the right content

I have, and I don't really think it's that great. I've seen it via Netflix and downloadable demo videos in addition to gaming. I don't have a 4K Blu-Ray player yet, so that might make a difference. The best HDR content I've seen is essentially faking the effect. Like those YouTube HDR demo videos that have the contrast cranked to the max and they're shot with no film grain, deep blacks, and in slow motion. I actually think they look better when viewed in normal TV mode sans HDR mode. Hence most of the store demos aren't actually even using HDR mode - the videos are just showing via an internal television video player.

With HDR mode it feels like it has to dull normal colors just enough to make the special HDR ones pop more. They look great while everything else looks like the contrast was turned down. Seems easy to fix by cranking the contrast up a little...until you realize that it's already maxed. I've run into this on two Samsungs and a Sony so it isn't just one model. In particular, shades of red always look burgundy and dull unless they're used in fireworks or something HDR specific.

If anything, I'd say the best I've seen HDR look is probably with certain game scenarios. The new Uncharted and RE7 both have really, really cool sunlight and neon effects that pop and look phenomenal.

So far the best HDR material I've seen far and away has been controlled demo situations. It's time is coming. I'm a believer in it but I think we're still in the "early growing pains" phase of it at present.

Some people did get really heavy into Destiny and all of its (surprisingly well written) lore. That guy is one of a few I found that have dedicated their channels to Destiny stuff. There is a market for it.

The Xur thing is actually interesting. Xur and the Agents of Nine are calling Exotic items trash. Exotics were the top-tier stuff in Destiny 1. You could only have one Exotic piece of armor equipped at a time. So it is interesting that Xur refers to them as trash. It could be a hint that there is something beyond Exotics in the game.

So do all of the missions only give rewards at the very end? Is that how it was on the original game?

I can see why that could be a benefit in some cases, but also massively shitty in others. Game feels a lot like Borderlands to me, but without the consistent rewards of loot drops from random enemies.

Some people said that closing/minimizing Battle.net after launching the game fixes it.
I had a friend send this message to me. I haven't gotten to PVP yet.

This is ironic if true:

"Seeing a lot of people complaining about aim assist on controllers making it so folks using controllers have an advantage over KBM users, and more specifically folks using an XIM4 having a tremendous advantage over everyone else due to it being a KBM that is treated as a controller and thus also gets the aim assist."

That right?
Controller auto aim is OP on PC.

Auto-aim in action. Seriously fucked up. It's possible the bullet bending algorithm and "snap-to" feature is tied to the framerate.

Enemies can drop weapons and armor. Some missions also offer periodic rewards as you complete specific objectives. Enemy drops are not as crazy as Borderlands, but in Destiny 1 there were times where enemies would drop a lot of items. Made me glad for the inventory manager Chrome extension so I could toss items into the Vault on the fly when doing Strike playlists.

For people new to all of this: Be assured that the full game is going to have way more of well...everything...then what you are seeing in this beta. This is a tip of a much larger iceberg.

Wow, that controller auto aim better get fixed before the final game comes out. People will be deliberately buying XIM4s for epic ownage if they don't. ;)

If someone is willing to go that far to win PvP in a game that doesn't really even focus on it...be my guest :p

yeah, I don't give a crap about the Auto Aim. It would be challenging for PC users when playing PvP, but PvP isn't my main focus. I hope they fix it though because it has the possibility to break the game.

From what we've seen it seems that they have put less of a focus on the Crucible this time around anyway. I think the PvE campaign including raids and strikes is going to be the primary draw and focus of the content.

for anyone playing with HDR, are you experiencing screen.... morphing?

i played the strike and everything was fine, but PVP has the screen distorting all the time. when i turn hdr off in game everything is fine, but it also looks so bland and dull.

I certainly hope so although I definitely hope all aspects of the game are in good shape and neither is shortchanged at the expense of the other.

One of the new patches broke RTSS/DXTory which means no manual fps caps or overlays. Sad.
On the plus side, Render Resolution works a lot better now.

EDIT: Frame caps work if you alt tab out, and then go back in lmao. I came here to edit my post before and now RTSS is working.

Good to know, I'll assume it's a beta thing because I never got any drops until the very end of the strike.

i played last night and my first impression was "well this is kind of generic". the real fun doesn't begin until you participate in the PVE strike. that's damn good fun. i liked PVP as well but mostly because it scratches the 'COD itch' (mindless fast paced FPS). the real meat of this game will be PVE but it will be nice to jump into PVP every now and then. this is a definite buy for me.

also i kept getting a bit of a Brink vibe last night while playing. in a good way though, Brink did some things right: the artistic style and the focus on co-op and community game play.

I just uninstalled the game basically my weekend is over anyway.
Main complaint for PVP TDM map "Javelin" is really generic they might want to rethink that one but I think the scope of it so it's works on consoles so it's limited.
The Competitor map "last City on Earth" well that map isn't any better really even Destiny 1 had better maps all around the maps that were added for Rise of Iron were really good and well thought out.

I really liked the graphics and the atmosphere but I only have around 30 min a day for the beta. Wish they did the beta on a weekend.

This game caters to all the early 20 somethings that played Halo on xbox. Generic and mediocre.

I played PC shooters going back to the Wolfenstein era and I like it. Destiny is roughly 1/2 RPG and 1/2 shooter and the RPG elements are essentially absent from the demo. They're also what set it apart from everything else.

The game is generic but... feels good? Runs and handles well, something you can't take for granted it seems - I'm unimpressed with the third person supers (it's pretty jarring to switch into it, even with the FOV set to 105).

I'm almost 100% turned off by the PvP aspect of the game, and if the PvE is a grind-fest, I'm... not sure how I feel about it (personally I did not have much fun with previous PvE shooters and finding consistent teammates) but, we'll see I guess?

I can be happy that this beta plays better than a lot of games at release.

Generic is a good term for it, in my experience as well. Doesn't mean it's bad, but so far I'm not blown away. As others have said, at least it looks and runs really well even in beta.

generic is a good way to describe it...I call it casual...this is for casual gamers who don't need or want a lot of depth in their gameplay (choosing a few skills does not make this a RPG)...I hope the retail release will have way more PvE versus PvP...I played a few of those PvP Crucible matches and got bored quick...even though the Strike co-op PvE is also repetitive I enjoy replaying it...I also like the map designs and look of the characters...the overall presentation of this game is drawing me in more then the actual gameplay...reminds me a bit of Titanfall
