Destiny 2

I have a GTX 1070, what Nvidia driver is best for this-- the recently released 385.41 or the previous 385.28?...I'm hearing conflicting reports on which is best...what say [H]?

It seems if you logout any time during the starter mission, you reset all the way back to the start lol. Just lost like 15-20mins of progress...
I kept all my guns tho.

How's everyone's impression? Especially those that did not play the first Destiny. I'll be able to load the game tonight.

I don't like it. Generic shooter.
Kinda wish I had kept my code until after the open beta so I could have re-sold it.

I'll give it another shot at launch.

I've never played a Destiny game before, I'm having a blast! I see it getting more fun after the Beta when you can level up / modify your character freely, etc.

The game is definitely similar to Destiny, but the look is more gritty and less cartoonish. There is also a pace to the demo that is more urgent than literally anything in the entire game of Destiny 1. Destiny had a leisurely pace throughout. The demo is intense and you feel pressure to move forward even if you don't have to.
Gameplay-wise, it's very similar and identical in a lot of ways. Your weapon loadouts and some abilities are a bit different, but things are otherwise pretty close.
The character customization (and leveling up and whatnot) screens are roughly the same as the first game, so that should work nicely once they're actually implemented.

I think it's terrific so far. Not sure I even have a real complaint. It looks and runs well, gameplay is fun and as I remember it. There's a lot of polish to it for a beta demo.

Sounds awesome. Is it Co-op like Borderlands? Party of 4? I prefer something I can play with friends.

I think it's going to be a big winner across the platforms.

I hate to even suggest this but this game (and a few others) is making me ponder the Nvidia combo for the game code and a 1080ti come October.

The only way I'm going to do that however is if I actually felt confident enough in rolling the dice on a monitor upgrade. See how ugly and expensive this can get? ;)

Otherwise I'm going to stick with my 980ti and my aging but ever stolid 1920x1200 NEC 2490wuxi unless I get my bluff called.

For all story missions, strikes, and patrolling (basically exploring big areas and doing little mini-quests) the max party (called a Fireteam) is 3 people.

For PVP the max Fireteam is 4.

For raids you can have a max of 6 people in your Fireteam.

Played 3 more crucible matches basically I can get away with the same stuff as the fist destiny with a warlock.
Melee attack on a controller really messes up the keyboard people ;) So does jumping high in the air......

Yeah, it's a bit like that. In the first game there are 6-7 large hub levels with a wide variety of missions going on. There are other players scattered throughout. You essentially just see other players who are in your vicinity and aren't on a story mission with unique enemies or plot points.
When you choose to play a mission (of any sort), you can choose to play with other people in your group or solo. Certain missions like strikes and raids require a group. If you aren't in a group, it will usually just pair you with other players also playing that same level. With the big/long raids, you had to have a group, though. That was a big complaint about the first game.

I like the fact that you can see Players in solo mission doing the same mission in the same area. You can either join them or just do your thing.

That's one of the strengths of this game and people saying "this will be dead after a month on the PC like any other FPS" or some such don't understand how this game works and what it is.

You can have your cake and eat it, too, to a point.

Why October? They could be out of game codes by then.

You guys need to try the Strike Mission it's great just finished it the jumping in the level is fun alone I bet it's just as fun as Vault of Glass was which I never go around to trying.

I wish I took some screenshots of the strike mission pretty amazing just figured out how to take screens with Nvidia geforce experience Alt-F-1 combo.

Adding those Titan Shields in a crucible game really can dominate a match by camping behind them =) wonder if I should roll a Titan quick.

I turned the brightness down to recommended finally it's alot easier on the eyes and turned off V-sync which shows it's enabled but at 144hz also took the field of view up a few notches 95 and added more sensitivity to the controller.

looks like the open beta is now available for everyone...started the download!

another gaming client to add to Steam, Uplay, Origin and GOG...yippee ;)

What are the start and finish times?
  • Monday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m.: Closed beta begins
  • Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 10 a.m.: Open beta begins
  • Thursday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m.: Beta ends

You are going to have alot of people saying Damn I missed the Beta ;)

About to get into this. So far impressed with Battle.net client. Downloading at a nice clip.

Damn you... you shush with that talk. ;)

I'm hoping for a Labor Day sale on a 1080 Ti. I'd rather have a single card now than 2 in SLI. This beta will decide whether I want to keep the code or sell it off.

I hope they have the loot system down the road displayed for the whole team so you can see what other people got right now it displays it at the end of the match on the left corner of the screen. In Destiny 1 you could hover over any players in order to see what they randomly got. Destiny 2 Beta must have spaceship drops included cause I seen a couple of different ships. Right now this game is pretty much a spirtual successor with changes that are made but they are subtle not to upset the Bungie crowd no idea what the Bungie forums are like I suppose I should check :D

ya its going decent but still little less than half my max download rate. I am only getting around 10MB/s compared to 22MB/s on steam. Normally not an issue, servers must be busy lol

I am getting my max speed of 30 MB/sec

Very impressed so far. Took MSAA down to SMAA and other than that I'm largely running max settings. Is HDAO ok to use for Nvidia cards?

All the menu options people want to see are here including FPS limiters, FOVs, you name it. Looks and feels like a dream. Easily getting 60 fps albeit I'm only at 1920X1200.

Without the use of overlays I wonder how they tested this out they used a Kaby Lake 7700K for their test benchmarking.

some people are reporting that Afterburner works fine as long as you're using the latest beta version

The game itself has a built in FPS counter. Not entirely sure if it is accurate, but its there.

finally got some work downtime, installing this bad boy now to give er a shot

Like others have said: I'm amazed this is in as solid of shape as it is for a beta.

As good as the PS4 version is... if you can swing it, this is the way to go for sure on this.

60 fps is a revelation for this.

This is the only game I could get to work/look right in HDR on my 2015 Samsung UN48JU6700 display. I realize it doesn't support full HDR, but it looks so much better in HDR, even though I run the desktop @ YCbCr 4:4:4 8bit. When I run the game it switches over to HDR.

The brightness settings are a bit off though. I imagine it looks amazing on a WCG display that handles HDR properly.

I'm playing it on a 5820k@4.3GHz, 64GB, 1080Ti, 4k. I usually like Vsync ON. Can I turn Vsync OFF and turn on Fast Vsync in the Nvidia control panel? I've never used Fast Vsync before and I'm not big on the tearing with adaptive Vsync.
