Fallout 4

So apparently the performance improvements to the Corvega Assembly Plant were meant for the console versions, and were snuck into the PC version. It seems the console versions were frequently running below 20 FPS in this area, and to increase performance they completely removed shadows inside the building... I'll need to go back and check it out myself. The first time I was there prior to the beta patch I never noticed any performance issues.

hopefully it was a mistake for PC and Bethesda will fix it in the next patch

I got out of the PA around lvl 20 and have not been back in it, lvl 28 now. So I maxed out Luck and have scrounger and I now find all kinds of good shit.

Got a .50 that is in the low 90s now iirc. I have been doing a lot of side missions. Got it off a raider. Will keep my eye open for sure though. Thanks for the heads up on location.

Best gun to buy as a low level character(heck even high level) is the Overseer's Guardian in Vault 81. It's a bit expensive, but it's a combat rifle that shoots 2 bullets at once, only consuming 1 bullet though. Mine does around 140 damage now, maybe more. Still haven't found a good replacement for it and I'm level 35 now.

It's for sure one of the best. My Overseer's Guardian does 240 damage, fully upgraded, and with an automatic receiver.

I have a hunting sniper rifle that also does double shot. I upgraded it completely to a .50, and it does around 283 damage now.

How? I am at max Gun Nut, max Rifleman and mine does just a hair under 200 I think, and that's with the most powerful receiver possible (.308 rounds, non-automatic).

What other SPECIAL/perks increase your base ranged damage?

Also, Overseer's Guardian is obscenely overpowered. I'm at level 47 or so and so far nothing has really come close to beating it other than maybe an upgraded Gauss rifle.

Another thing is that the legendary item drop rate doesn't seem to scale at all to your level. I am still using a metal right arm from like level 10-15 because it has +1 STR and +1 END and I've never found anything better, and I still regularly get base leather armor legendary drops in from legendary enemies in high-level areas. Pretty stupid to be honest...I have a cabinet full of junk legendaries because they appear to be 100% random.

The perk for Combat, I think. It affects your automatic weapons. Also, mine is suppressed, and I crouch all the time. There are perks for Sneaking, Sandman, and one or two others which all contribute to having insanely high damage for my weapons. I can basically one shot an alpha legendary deathclaw to death.

Personally, I'm looking now for a double shot legendary Gauss rifle. My own Gauss rifle is a rapid reload legendary, and does about 463 damage.

My guardian does 271 pts damage. with the stealth buffs it adds 5.4x damage. I literally 2-shot a minelurk queen. Oh, I also have the lone wanderer perk, which may be adding in 25%

I somehow have misplaced a ton of my weapons. It is like they disappeared from my workbench in my settlement. I don't know where they went to...

Here's a question though: Do armor boosts like +SPECIAL or special abilties (15% less damage from humans/robots/whatever) still apply if you wear armor within the power armor? Because if so then it seems worth it to have decent armor even if you do use power armor.

Or, does it just completely negate all of your armor skills?

I do notice that once you hop in the power armor, your Deep Pocketed armor doesn't seem to apply anymore so I wonder what applies (if anything) and what doesn't.

Pretty sure nothing at all applies. All the plus SPECIALs and 15% less damage from supermutants or whatever all goes out the window. Which definitely sucks, and is basically the biggest disadvantage to power armor.

I just started the railroad line of quests, once I get the ability to ballistic weave clothing or however it works I think I'll revisit my armor situation.

It seems like I really needed it for some of the mobs in the Glowing Sea (e.g. multiple legendary albino radscorpions at once on very hard), but since I've been back in the more normal game area it seems like overkill and I'd be better off going back to regular armor. I got out of the PA to hack a terminal and forgot to get back in and downed 6 synths no problem just wearing a suit, so...

How? I am at max Gun Nut, max Rifleman and mine does just a hair under 200 I think, and that's with the most powerful receiver possible (.308 rounds, non-automatic).

That's where I'm at also. Like 193 or something.

The guardian is great, my other favorite gun is a combat shotgun with the explosive modifier. It seems to get through armor better and often stuns foes too. Max Rifleman, one level of the ammo-finder perk and semi-auto on all my guns mean I have plenty of ammo.

I found a minigun with explosive modifier and gave it to Piper...holy shit, she went nuts. Burned through ammo too fast for her to keep it, though. Thinking I should give it to one of my settler defenders. :D

I really like the gamma gun with that one unique mod. It just blows people apart.

I'm fairly certain you've scrapped those. Items stored in any of your workbenches are used for materials in building items around your settlement.

You can't scrap weapons unless you manually do it at an upgrade center or by dumping them all on the ground. More likely they are in some chest. Chests will not share resources like the crafting stations do.

What's the damage on that thing?

I'm at the point where a regular minigun is pretty useless. Even with the upgraded damage mod

Don't recall, but the base damage is just whatever a minigun normally is and I assume it adds 15 points of explosive damage. With Piper using it it seemed to chew through everything pretty fast. She also burned through 500 rounds of ammo in like two encounters, but AI isn't the most accurate or smart (trying to hit a guy with a minigun from like 500 feet).

I don't use Heavy Weapons so I imagine it could be pretty beastly if you perked that up.

EDIT: There is also the Ashmaker which is a unique minigun with 15 points of fire damage per shot as well, which is also pretty crazy powerful.

By the way, talking about luck spec, is there 'stupid' gameplay in this?

Fallouts before this, your conversation would entirely change if your intelligence was below a certain threshold, it's less drastic in Fallouts 3 and NV, but it's still there.

This is just pure curiosity, since I most likely will play high INT anyway, I would need it for the science perks, so may as well go full INT.

Also, I do not believe if this has been answered before, if you pick up bobbleheads before you reach 10 in that special stat, would I have a lower possible maximum compared to say hit 10 first, then pickup bobblehead? AFAIK it doesn't matter for 'You are SPECIAL!" because it won't let you above 10 with it.

I don't think so, but I don't know for sure.

Yes, for certain. If you're at 10 and get the bobblehead you'll be at 11. If you're at 9 and get the bobblehead you'll be at 10, but you'll never be able to add another point to get to 11.

OK...I'm 15 hours of game play in an I am thoroughly enjoying this game. I am only level 10 but It seems my OCD has taken over because I literally spend hours scrounging for junk and loot in stead of playing the damn game!

With that said, I told myself I was not going to cheat but JESUS Christ, I get so tired of having to give poor Dog-meat all my Hording shit and then when he and I are both full I have to fast travel back to camp and dump all my crap off.....So I said fuk it and with a little console love, I upped my carrying capacity to 10,000. SO much frekin' better. I decided that will be the only cheat I use......

The BoS showing up randomly and fighting is just game ambiance. I got in good with all the factions for a short time and hell erupted everywhere I went because the game wanted to spawn all the different factions near me at the same time to create this kind of 'We are here' environment. I'd have Synths popping in while BoS comes flying in from above. Sometimes it would center around Raider camps so there'd be a 3-way fight. Other time I'd hear explosions off screen, turn to the noise and there'd be a fight off in the distance and the explosion is just the BoS transport blowing up.

I don't think that's right, or at least that's not supposed to be the case. The bobble heads and gear bonuses are always a + modifier on top of your base SPECIAL.

No, because INT in FO4 works differently. INT 2 is considered "normal".

So, no sophisticated dialogue with sulik, sadly.

Gear yes, bobbleheads, no. Not according to every source I've seen.

I've just realized that, the chainsaw thingie makes every other melee weapon worthless junk. It can cut anything in seconds. Of course I have STR10 and Power armor.

Mod a super sledge. Or the chinese officer sword that does +50% to human, or the one that does +50 rad.

Or a VATS enhanced aluminum bladed bat.

The chainsaw thing is crap.

So yesterday I was just messing around in the menus and noticed the damage for my weapons got insanely high. Either I leveled up somehow and didn't notice it, chose a perk for something I didn't realize, or picked up something that boosted my damage. For instance, my Gauss rifle is at 567 damage. My double-shot hunter .50 is at 304. It's really insane. :D

I honestly think it's because the last perk I decided to upgrade was the Lone Wanderer perk, which is maxed out now.

oh yes, lone wanderer + toughness and you become a living tank in this game.

im on my second run now, could not wait a year to play it again full of mods and improved. man.. im looting the shaw high school and curie is giving me such a hard time because of the dirt and filth of the place :D

Rifle man got my rifles up there still need gunslinger 4 and 5 black widow 2 and bloody mess and imp crits... I already snipe people with overseers guardian most of the time 1 shot... I took gun fu and can kill 3 targets with it in one vats round.

this time i finally managed to build a place for me, decided to set myself in Covenant (after i "depopulated" the place :p)

The chainsaw thing is crap.

I have a super-sledge with +50 radiation damage. It doesn't even compare. By the time I swing it once, I already cut three ghouls in half with the chainsaw.

BTW I've finished the game and posted my thoughts on it.

High agility sneaky handgun build with the Deliverer is pretty silly, too. Right now, I can do somewhere around 15-16 shots in one VATS round. From stealth, that'll pretty well clear a room.

Yeah I built a sneaky rifle or handgun user I generally carry overseers guardian, le fusil terrible, the deliverer, the alien gun, old faithful, the last minute and Reba 2

Lately I have been finding myself switching between the deliverer and overseers guardian.

All of the guns that can be are silenced except the shot gun and set up in sniper config...

I wonder what your child would think of you if s/he ever found out that this was what you were doing while s/he is missing :p

I was a bit bummed that the Alien Blaster kind of sucks unless you have Gunslinger perks. As a Rifleman primarily the damage was not worthwhile. Might have been cool if you could make it into a Alien Rifle... :)

Alien Blaster is great after it is modded with different barrel, ammo type and scope. I used it for a few levels before swapping it out with a plasma weapon with cryo damage. :D

hey i did saved the kid! thats why i had to "depopulate" the place.

Not sure if there is anything you guys collect specifically, but here are my main collections - pool balls and lunchboxes:

ALL THE BALLS

Notice the odd distribution...there are significantly more Two, Eight and Cue balls than anything else. Others are exceedingly rare.

Another angle of BALLS

Another angle, plus in the upper left you can see my small but proud Pepper Mill / Salt Shaker collection. Again, a seemingly rare Junk item that I decided to collect.

SO LUNCHBOX, MUCH WOW

The one off to the left is special - It's called "Lunchbox" rather than "Vault-Tec Lunchbox" in-game...no idea why.

You can also see the Bobbleheads and the Gilded Grasshopper there.

how do you get rid of the blown out lighting effects?
this is not the perma glare, just the bullshit light-change iris effect I guess.
but they do it too goddamn munch in too many places to where you can't see shit, especially around spot lights.
probably the main annoyance I have with this game
