reimagine - v - 1. To destroy 2. To run into the ground 3. To "EA" something

This reminds me of the Indiana Jones South Park episode...

Honestly though, one EA franchise that REALLY needs to be brought back is Madden. Screw the old franchises like Road Rash, what we REALLY need is a new Madden game.

Crazy idea here, lets try a new ip with innovating new gameplay and technology which helps expand the industry rather than stagnate it, or is that too radical of thought and do I risk a stakeburning? If so then HURRAH for modern warfare and madden, our lazy corporate overlords doth giveth unto we.

Good ole EA, Chewing them up and spitting them out,
I remember when they purchased Air Warriors and Papyrus's NASCAR,...Dumped them after that and some others I can think of, Sort of like the 90's, buy , close, sell'em off lol

They do develop new IP, for instance Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. Dead Space wasn't particularly successful, yet they stuck with it and the sequel was. Mirror's Edge was even worse, but they've still expressed interest in trying it again. Kingdoms of Amalur is another new IP they are developing.

People want new IPs and "innovation" but at the same time they don't seem to go for them financially or complain about changes from how things have been done (see battlelog).

Alice 2 was a franchise they've just revived, don't hear many complaints about that game.

Was the setting change in Medal of Honor really the problem? COD and BF also started as WW2 franchises, modern warfare is what people want and the current in thing at the moment.

Fuck Madden. I would LOVE a new Road Rash!

A new Road Rash would be good :) i used to play that game like crazy. Although i have this odd feeling that if it was brought back it would be something like DNF. Just an experience that can't be recreated properly.

"That was the reason we brought MoH back" - bullshit, you saw how many copies CoD was shifting and thought "we'll have some of that".

+1 for another Road Rash. I liked the new MoH, it was just too short. Leave the rest alone though.

Though I am not exactly happy with how some franchises die (dungeon keeper :(), it probably isn't entirely the fault of the big corporations. Small time developers scraping together some money for years, suddenly gets $100m to produce the game of their dreams. You think they are going to act responsibly and work just as hard while sitting in a pile of money with no pressure to produce anything? It wouldn't make any financial sense for a big games company to buy up small time companies give them a load of money and get rid of them with no hope of any returns on the investment? It's probably just as much the small guy's fault with too much cash to burn as the big guys for giving it to them. I wouldn't sell my company to them, but the original owners sell it to a buisness, and act victimized when the company makes buisness decisions after they fail to perform. If I made an online game and it was published by valve, and made exactly -$1m profit, do you think theyd sustain it? But anyway, It's not like the big guys hold them at gunpoint and make them join. ;)

But anyway, wasn't Papyrus owned by Vivendi Universal? I know EA bought the Nascar licence (like with most sports but...it's nascar...who cares :p).

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'd say it sounds good. We'll see how it goes.

What they need to do is sit down and make a game engine what will last for 5+ years and then just release an roster update pack each year for like $5-10. This way, you don't have to buy a new game every year just to get the new players.

Yeah, but the way it is now they can charge $60 for it instead of $10.

Yep, that's why Quake Live(Q3A) is and will always look the same.
I know MS owns Rare, but I'll take Killer Instinct 3, even if it sucks.

Like I said, 99.9% of the time, the remake is an abomination; QuakeLive falls into the 0.01% that were actually good remakes.

EA turning into the games equivalent of hollywood..

Yay, more butchered classics to look forward to!

I'm not against this either, Hell not something half as old as the original road rash. If they remade BF2142 using frostbite 2 or what ever engine they have at the time I would fall in love. There are plenty of great games out there that I would love to see updated with modern mechanics, not just graphics.

Remake System Shock verbatim with Doom 3 engine. Yes.

No "reinmagination"; a straight graphic upgrade.

Crazy ambient whispers and all.

I wouldnt mind so much if the "reimagining" didnt mean EA completely change the essence and gameplay that made the classics so great.

Their idea of reimagining or modernizing a classic is probably by turning it into another fucking FPS/console trash and slapping the name of a much loved series on it.

Color me cynical until proven otherwise.

All of you people whining about this, I saw let them and PLEASE let one of the games be Road Rash, I want a new Road Rash so bad, there's just nothing that compares to it these days.

Imagine a Road Rash game with europhia physics, complete online mutliplayer support with gangs you can join/outfit you rbiker/bike, weapons, etc.

Dude E-mail this to EA. Do it now! *Arnie voice*

GOD DAMNIT I WANT A NEW KILLER INSTINCT!!! loved the n64 one sooo much.

/nerdspasm off

KI gold is for Noobs! (Sill played the hell out of it though)

I still play the Arcade versions all the time  And I agree there should be a new KI. Bring back the Arcade wars! But Microsoft bought Rareware so we will probably never see a new KI game.

I don't really see a problem with this... there are plenty of old EA franchises I wouldn't mind seeing again. Road Rash would be awesome... or a new Jane's flight sim. How about a new SimCity?

For the love of god!

Nope nope nope. First they did this with MOH, then NFS Hot Pursuit and both games were very subpar imo. I don't want them screwing up any of my old time favorites like Simcity/Simcopter/Simanything or any of the Jane's stuff with a silly "reboot".

How about instead they patch up their old games so they run under Windows 7 and re-release them in bundled packs?

I wish there was some game like Extreme Pong or Extreme Tic Tac Toe that featured OpenCL/Bullettime/PhysX, fully native DirectX11 shaders, and ...
