Does Newegg open box motherboards come with the sound cards for the Rampage X58 or the MSI Eclipse Pro X58 boards?

It's gonna be hit or miss with Newegg open box. I would say usually you get accessories and cords (at least from my experience), but they do not guarantee that you will in any form.

I've bought 5-6 open box motherboards from Newegg over the last couple years, 2 were still in the original box with all accessories, 2 were in the box with the back plate and no other accessories and the last one was the board only in a plain box. As the previous poster stated it's crap shoot what you will get.

I have order 7 open box motherboards. Only one so far has arrive with just an I/O panel but no other accessories. All the boards came in a white box. So don't put your hopes too high OP. Expect just a bare motherboard only. If you do get extras then awesome. But I think pretty much the majority of open box motherboards will be bare.

Well an open box board is one that gets sent back to them or one that is damaged packaging in the warehouse. Sometimes accessories will get sent back some times they do not. I would think in most cases the accessories would be included. I don't imaging many people return boards but keep all of the accessories because they want to get their refund.

I have purchased more than 10 open box boards over the years from the egg and not a single one has even had a back plate. The SLI boards usually had the SLI connectors but nothing else. So getting accessories is very YMMV.

I'd swear NewEgg dips into their 'open box' stock for spare parts...

Sometimes you can get extra stuff ! I've ordered a handful of open boxes over the years and one came with a tube of thermal grease ! Not anything too good, as I recall. Like others, I've also gotten a bare mobo in a bag, I don't recall that it even had a box, no SLI connector.

When I ordered the X48 Rampage forumula from newegg. I got it open box, and it literally did not come with anything except the motherboard. No soundcard, no poster LCD, not even a backplate. I got a great deal on it, and I got a better soundcard than the one that comes with it.

You might get it, and you might not. If I were you I'd plan on buying a soundcard if you get the open box version.

Well the Rampage Open Box is about $270 shipped, then a good sound card off the forums run about $75. That's $345 total. I'll be better off buying new since the board is now selling for $349 plus $30 MIR with everything. But I'll stick with the P6T6 since it has a better layout, the last 16x will not hang a 5870 off the board unlike the Rampage.

The one time I ordered an open box it came fully stocked, worked perfectly and had all accessories, including a card reader -- PLUS IT WAS AN ECS BOARD OMFGLOLBBQSAUZ

Though, this was 2003 and this was a Socket A board.

I bought an open box one and it was DOA. I had to pay a restocking fee and return shipping and then ended up buying new retail. Never again.

Can't speak for all of their open box parts but this board obviously wasn't even tested. Within seconds you would know it was a faulty board.

You obviously didn't ask for them to waive the restocking fee and refund your shipping.

They've done it at least 10 times for me.

Obviously I did and they refused. Your limited anecdotal evidence isn't enough for me to take that risk again.

A buddy and I both bought open box Rampage II Extremes from newegg within a few days of each other a couple weeks back. We both got bare motherboards with zero accessories. Whoever returned my board left their cpu heatsink backplate stuck on so I got that for free. My board was bad though and had to be returned; got a prepaid shipping label for it. Not sure exactly about the condition of my buddy's board, I'm assuming it was fine though.

I bought one Open Box board from them a while back, a P5B Deluxe. Only had the Motherboard. It had been volt modded and someone fried it. Newegg took it back and refunded me, but I wonder something. How does newegg do what they do? They accept boards that had been modded for return without any questions then they try to sell you the fried board at a discount without even looking at it. The board literally had a burn mark on it!

BUY NEW! Don't risk wasting your time. They charge your card immediately on shipping but refunds take up to a week to process. Open box items are refund only and they absolutely refused to give me any type of credit and allow me to pay the difference on a new product they had in stock.

Yeah they obviously do not test these open box items. You as the consumer become the guinea pig. Screw that.

I bought a R2E from someone in the forums for a great price with all the accessories. I didn't want to take the chance with Newegg.

Forum members here and elsewhere is a very good source of items for your build. You can often get good deals from someone who already tested it to be working and simply is rebuilding or upgrading.

I bought an open box ASROCK x58 Deluxe. It came with everything except the I/O plate.. but it was DOA.

They say they test their open box stuff.. but I highly doubt it.

I did call them and ask for them to waive the restock fee and they did... I didn't think to ask about getting the shipping refunded though.

So I ordered a NIB one and it should be here Monday.

Never doing open box stuff from them again though.

If the policy was changed so that they would not have a restock fee, would refund your shipping, and also pay for shipping back to them, then it would be another story....

As it is, I am now out an extra $19 and some wasted time for a DOA open box board.

I never had a problem with open box motherboards from newegg. But to each his own.

That's the main reason I buy from the forums, the item has been tested. I also believe people are trustworthy until proven otherwise about the condition of an item. I'm still careful as I can be with who I buy from. Heatware keeps people honest somewhat.

The price delta between the open box and the full retail just isn't good enough to risk it for me. Sell me an open box board for 100 bucks that retailed for $350 then yeah, it's worth a shot. But sell it to me for $299, nah, not worth it when I could end up with a wall decoration..

or spend that saved 50 (or more) on replacing parts that should have been in the box.

I've bought a couple openbox mobos. never once have they come with even a sata cord. I only bought open box when i know i have enough cables and stuff.

Dear MetalX,

I sincerely apologize for this late reply to your comment. I just happened to come across this thread and noticed you put a few times how we charge restocking fees on Open Box items. I don't know who you were in contact with here, but we waive restocking fees and provide return shipping labels when defective or DOA items are received and you contact us about them, regardless if they're retail or Open Box. The fact that you were not helped in this way is unacceptable.

I welcome you and anyone else to contact me by e-mailing me at [email protected] or calling me at 800-390-1119 ext 25092 if you would like assistance with a defective and/or Open Box Item return.

^^^ Good to know. I can attest that I received a refund and a shipping label when I received a brand new motherboard with a bad memory slot recently.

This was years ago and I was charged a 15% restocking fee and was responsible for return shipping. Even if the policy has since changed out of principle I will never purchase an open box item from Newegg as they're obviously not tested.

MetalX,

It is certainly disheartening when a defective/doa item is received. Open Box items are tested for basic functionality, but even through shipment, things can happen. If anyone should need help, please keep my information that I originally posted as I am happy to provide assistance.

i have purchased 2 open box mobos. both came like new with all the accessories, box, manuals, and cables.

Even newegg said that there will be the item only, but my roomate got everything when he ordered openned box motherboard.
Hope that help.

Irony: the Asrock X58 Extreme I ordered last month came with SATA cables, its driver disc and manual, a copy of Vista Ultimate OEM (ya rly!) and a tube of thermal paste...but no I/O shield. :(

yeah i bought an open box asusm2nsli deluxe 2yrs ago and it ran fine until mar-april of this year.didn't come w/an i\o shield or an sli bridge. but newegg was nice enough to refund me the money for my sli bridge(thanks newegg:)). this is one of the reasons it's so hard for me to shop for pc parts anywhere else.
