Red Alert 3 comes out on Tues! Isnt anyone excited?

Ever since the series lost its' "westwood touch" I haven't been a big fan. That, plus knowing what EA generally does to games makes this a "wait and see" at most for me.

If/when I see for a good price maybe.

C&C3 was better than I had anticipated, and I would imagine they learned from that experience so that RA3 would be even more enjoyable.

It took me a while to really enjoy Generals, mainly because it carried the C&C name without the proper C&C feel. But as a RTS in general, it was pretty good.

Wow there's alot of C&C bashers here. I'm definitely looking forward to the game. I even pre-ordered the collector's edition from gamestop. I'm an avid fan of C&C regardless of the DRM and the publisher. Besides at least you can play the game without the DVD in. The look and feel of the game is very unique and stays true to the Red Alert theme. And for those of you who say the game is cartoony and cheesy you obviously havent played RA and RA2. That's the the point of the series. I prefer RA over the Tiberium series anyways due to its unique content.

Anyways I'd love to play Co-op campaign with someone on here. That looks like it should rock. BTW did anyone notice the crazy ass super weapons in this game. My fav is the orbital drop. Dropping satellites on your enemies is EPIC. Definitely a breath of fresh air away from the tired nukes.

+1 for Generals. Now a sequel to that game will be interesting. Seems like it might be next in the franchise since Tiberium was canceled.

looks like not many ppl are fan of the red alert series...

the few gameplays, trailers, and beta gameplay on youtube looks very fun. Shuddering awesomeness of the similar unit's speeches ... "high speed looooooow drag!" :)

I went to gamestop and they didnt have it yet. Said it ships today, they'll have the box tomorrow.

Sucks :(.

I'm considering Direct2Drive or something so I can play it tonight. Part of me wants that physical box and instruction manual, etc though.

I remember loving the original RA and enjoying RA2, but this whole DRM crap EA put on RA3 really kills the game for me.

I LOVED RA2 and it seems Far Cry 2 is getting some crappy reviews. I'll wait for some reviews though.

Will definitely hit you up whenever I pick up a copy.

I'll be waiting.

Went to Gamestop yesterday and was told the same thing that it shipped but wont arrive until today. Then I get a call from Gamestop's automated system saying it ill be in stores by 12pm today. Sucks that I have to work cuz now I have to wait til after 6pm to play :-(
I'll report back as soon as I get it in my hands!

My attempts to get a copy have failed, checked gamestop, circuit city, best buy. no one has it in stock yet. Might have to order it online.

I was excited about this game until i heard about the DRM. Originally decided not to buy it because of the DRM, but I was bored yesterday so I went to a couple stores to find a copy. None had it, so I picked up fallout 3 instead.

AMAZING Game. Guess I'm going to pass on RA3 now for at least a while, Fallout 3 will keep me busy until WOTLK comes out at least, and with other stuff to keep me busy it'll be easier to avoid RA3 cause of its DRM.

Gamestop will have it and sell at 12pm EST and Best Buy will have it and sell at 2pm EST.

My copy is in my car. Picked it up at lunch break. The gamestop guy said I was the one and only pre-order, and I work in a pretty populated area. I guess the other big titles out this week overshadowed it.

Tell us how it plays.. I'm doing an RA3 lan party this weekend so we'll see how it goes :p

i'm going pick up @ Fry's too. hope it's good. I have the 7600GS video card, Is it good to run for this game or i need to upgrade?

you may get by @ all low with a 7600GS , if its anything like C&C3 Kanes my dads machine struggled with a 8600GTS

this is for other PC,,this one old one from last 2 yrs. i have Crosair 520PSU, 7600 GS and intel Axle 2 MB, E6400 CPU over clock to 2.4. should i buy other video card Danny or not?If so, which one should i get? i have 19 inch monitor on this one.

Get the HD4850 if you can afford it but the 9800GT for around $120 is a good choice.

Installing now. I have been a big fan of the C&C RA series so I've been waiting for this one for a while. The only thing I'm worried about though is I think Supreme Commander has spoiled me for RTS games. So hopefully I enjoy this one. If not i got the poster with it so I'm happy :)

What was cartoony about RA?

I always wonder about that as well. Nothing was cartoony or campy in RA1 as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why people seem to say that RA was always that way. It's like they only played RA2 or have very selective memory. If I had to grasp at straws I suppose the fact that ore and precious gems are piled on the ground by tiny mines is kinda silly.

Ok got the game installed and running everything max at 1920x1200 with V-Sync on. No matter how much action is goin on my fps stay at 30, I was shocked. As far as the gameplay itself, the game plays exactly like RA2 which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on how much you like RA2. Me for one I'm really enjoying it. It's not a revolutionary game by any means but that doesnt mean it isnt fun. I love the Empire of the Rising Sun faction. The shinobi warriors and psychic schoolgirls kick ass lol. Now I'm just waiting on someone here to PM me for some Campaign Co-op fun. :D

Does it have the same visual perspective as C&C 3? I couldn't scroll back far enough from the action for my taste...

Its much better but not as much as I'd love it to be. I wish I could scroll in much closer like Warhammer 40,000 and zoom out as far as Supreme Commander but all in all its definitely a step up from C&C3 in my opinion as far as FOV.

I played a good 5 hours last night or so, my thoughts below:

I like it. Its fun, goofy, and has a good sense of humor. They weren't trying to be serious, and the cutscenes and tutorial really show that.

Graphics: Shiny and pretty and plenty of fun. A little cartoony, but not in a bad way (in my opinion). I like the direction they went with it, YMMV.

Gameplay: A lot like previous red alert titles. Which is just fine in my book. I like it that way! Theres a new thing called "Tactics" which when you open it up looks like a WoW talent tree. Theres 3 "Trees" you can go down with 5 skills in each tree. As you play the game, and engage in battle, you earn points which you spend on these trees. Anyone who played Universe at War: Earth Assault will remember this functionality. Just like WoW, the earlier skills are required to unlock the latter skills in the tree. Anyone who played Most of these are in the form of special attacks/defense like sending bombing planes and stuff or teleporting in time bombs, etc. A few minor differences, but otherwise, its par for the course for a red alert game.

Storyline: Not serious at all, very goofy and plenty of cheese. I love it. Too many funny bits, especially the tutorial when a representative from each faction is teaching you to play. They joke around and take pot shots at each other. My favorite line from the tutorial (minor spoiler warning I guess). "Ok, now send these troops into this base here, and make sure not to do this. If you do, all your friends will laugh at you for failing a tutorial mission".

I'm enjoying it. So far I'm a decent way through the soviet mission (the first one in order of left-to-right on the campaign screen, so I presume the first part of the storyline). Not sure if theres a "proper" order to follow.

What the hell is up with you guys and DRM?
Seriously, I understand you don't want 'the man' intruding on your computer and telling you how many installs you can have.. But honestly,
ARE YOU REALLY INSTALLING A GAME 5 TIMES?

Yes, it does bother me more than a little just on principle enough to not buy a game, and yes, I often am installing a game more than once or even three/five times on my own computer.

lol..I actually like the change. :)

Yep, I thought it was nicely done. And also the in game interface is very nice, it's not bad at all. I personally prefer Supreme Commander's interface in minimal mode, but this one in RA3 is real good as well.
