Show Your LCD(s) setups!!!

I wish I had finished my Gaming rig. I'll be finishing this year.

The model is the KDL-40S3000. I saw the 1080p version right next to it when I did my purchase. After tunning both of them to a certain degree, I like this monitor completely. My brother was like:

"The 1080p is sharper but then again, once your tv is home, you can tweak it and it should look great.".

So I took it home. After turning in my 24" I'll I paid was $608 out the door. I had the 24" for a while. But when we got home, hooked it up to the HD DVD and played Transformer, my brother told me he would get one ASAP. Out the box it looks great. No dead pixels or anything. Knock on wood.

But a good tv for cheap. 720p looks great on this size and distance. Unless you really need to get 1080p, you can get this or anything else that looks good in 720p and use the extra cash for a stand, sound system or HD DVD/360. What really made me buy this is how good Standard Definition looks on it. ONce you tweak it, it's great.

I'm still getting used to it's 8ms response, but it's not a deal breaker. You can get it for less than the Web price at the store. When I got there, I talked the guy down and it came out less because of the exchange. But still a good monitor for $1100-$1499.99.

Splurge man. You only have one life to live.

For Crysis, I'd say big screen, sit about more than 10' and use a good to great 1080p display. If you're sitting 10' or less, a 720p tv of that size or less will be your best bet and great on the wallet. Hope that helps.

:D

Hi all, this is my first post here and maybe it's not the right place....
First of all sorry for my bad english.....it's not my native language.
I have a big problem with my displays' setup and I'm arrived here at the end of a very long research!!
I'm a woman but I've ever assembled my pc. With the last one I decided to put 2 graphic adapter (X1950 pro) not for a crossfire setup, but only because for my job I need a big monitor and 2 other monitors for palette and so on....
I want to buy a 30" monitors and I already have 2 19" Multisync LCD.
The problem is that it's impossible to have both card working :(
I've installed a second X1950 Pro card. The first one is an Asus EAX X1950 pro, the second one the same card by ATI. I've uninstalled the old Catalyst (7.2) than I have rebooted and in Device manager I've found the 2 X1950 pro. Then I've reinstalled the Catalyst (7.10) e newly I rebooted. I DON'T WANT A CROSSFIRE configuration, I only need to have on the first card my 30" monitor and on the second card the two 19" monitors.
In Catalyst control panel I see now 4 icons (1-3-2-4 displays)but I see only one card listed with a monitor. If I enable the monitor (3) in the second card, I can see for a while the desktop in the second monitor, but in a couple of minute all disappear, I see line e points and then Vista (ultimate X64) crashes. (I link some screen to better explain)
When I've rebooted I've seen this warning
and this description:

A problem with your video hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly.

If I don't attach any monitor (display) on the second card, Vista64 works fine, only if I enable the monitor on the second card Vista crashes.
I've tried with and without the two crossfire bridge molex: same effect.

I don't need crossfire but only to have 1 30" display on the first card and on the second card Other display.
I think that the problem is in the Catalyst driver because it's in that control center that I don't see the TWO card listed, while Vista device manager has both.
I see here more than one people with 3 o 4 display configuration and the one I quoted with a similar card and pc too. I wrote to ATI but it's absolutely useless: the last answer is this one:
We do not support multiple displays on two cards, both in XP and Vista The only mode we support with two cards is Crossfire (which means a single monitor is active)

If you just wish to run two displays, hook them both up to the primary card. If you are still having this Stop, or fatal error, remove the second video card.

One other thing that may reduce problems; and it's worth trying, is to reduce the amount of system memory, by removing memory panels. Consult your motherboard manual on acceptable configurations.

Another is:
In your BIOS are you set to dual PCI Exrpess card configuration?

So can i have to do?
I know that my english it's bad.... sorry about that, but here where I live I don't know any one and the only store here is a Future shop....... I moved here some month ago and I'm without any friends ....
I have assembled my pc by myself with no problem but with this situation ..... :( What Ican I try?
Please Help me, poor woman in big trouble!!!
Thanks so much for any help.

The 360 is on 1366x768. SInce it's on PC mode through the VGA, I do get an error when putting it on 720p. 1280x720 if I'm correct. I'm sure it will accept it on the components inputs though. I'm actually going to buy the Elite so I'm sure that will take care of that. But it's a great monitor. I like it a lot.

Not bad for a 16 year old huh ;)

nope, worked all summer for it. NONE of it was contributed by my parents. Did 40-50 hours a week. btw, I work as a baker at a coffee shop called tim hortons.

Haha. I looked at that room and thought instantly "Jesus, this guy lives in a kid's bedroom!"

Nice work though! Oh the pluses of living with your parents. :D

Those aren't real screenshots (as in PrintScreen, save the Clipboard as a pic), they're shots of his screen taken with a camera, so you're seeing the 'antialiasing' because of the mismatched resolution of pixels on the LCD and the image sensor in the digital camera.

At least that's how I see it... ;)

Dude, that setup is double double all the way!!!

Good for you to get such a great setup after making so many folk happy at timmis

Thanks for all the comments. Only hard part about my setup was finding a place to put my sub. There's only a 2mm clearance between my bed and the sub.

New monitor. Still needs tidying up and then I'll take better shots. I need to get my Nikon back from a friend that borrowed it also.

It replaced an original G15 that got spilled on. I like it. The smaller size is definitely welcome. I miss the volume dial a little bit, I wish they'd kept it but made it a little more robust as it was kind of cheap/cheesy. The only other criticism is that the backlighting is a little inconsistent on the number row. Looking at it the tops of the symbols (&^% etc) isn't really illuminated very well..

I've also used the new G15. I don't like it as much as the old one. 18 macro keys are da bomb! I'll live with the larger size, if I have to....;)

I sort of wish logitech would make both models at the same time. One for people with small desks, and one for macro junkies.:D

Is there no volume control now?!?!?

There is but it's two buttons instead of the knob. Just a little less convenient sometimes.

The new G15 came along at a good time because the old one was too big to use my keyboard tray and a mouse at the same time, and the 37" LCD pretty much requires the use of the keyboard tray otherwise I'm too close to the monitor.

this looks like you put a light floor shelf on your desk...why didn't i think of that...where did you get the shelf?

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. And a little luckily they're both exactly 48" wide and the metal is even painted the same color. I got the shelf at Staples. I've seen some more elegant solutions but I've never really seen any that are sturdy enough and roomy enough for all the crap I've got on there. That receiver and center channel are both pretty heavy. Normally the center is angled down at the seating area but the little rubber feet that keep it from sliding off came loose so I'll need to find another solution.

thanks much - next time i'm in staples i'll look around!

That's my Gateway XHD3000 flanked by 2 Dell 2001FP's and my Q6600, 4Gig, 8800GT/7900GT rig.

I could not be happier:D save for that one Aero issue I'm having w/ Vista Ultimate 64!

question about your setup fasteddie

i was considering 2 24 inch displays to use with my 37 westy in a similar manner to what you have done. will it match up as well as the 2 20 inch and 1 30 inch display that you have?

anyone chime in please! :)

I'm sorry, but even 3 months with 45 hours/week could not afford that stuff.

Minimum wage is what, $8.50 where you probably are?

Assuming a rate of $8 an hour, 45 hours a week for 3 months comes out to about $4300. That should be enough to cover the cost of his setup.

@ Loke- Did you even do the math for that? Even if he got paid around minimum wage it would be over 3 grand. 45 Hrs/Wk * 4 Wks a month * 3 months * $6/Hr = $3240 Before taxes of course but still... When you don't have to pay for room, board, food, utilities, ect. you don't have to work a ton or make a lot an hour to get some spending cash. I worked as a little league umpire over the summer for $12 an hour (I'm sure you wont believe me but I could care less) and made over 3 grand working less then 25 hours a week. I did not spend it on computer parts though and put it towards my college funds.

Probably not. See, the 30" Gateway (as are all 30" monitors) is 2560 x1600. I specifically got 2 monitors whose native res. is 1600x1200 so that when turned in portrait as they are, they match up w/ the 1600 aspect of the Gateway. Trying to find non-WS monitors whose native res. is 1600x1200 is an expensive ordeal. Trust me lol.

So, the 30 is 2560x1600, and then the two 20s are 1050x1680, no? Annoying 80 pixels, heh.

No this is NOT correct.

The 30 is 2560x1600 and the 20's are 1200x1600. Flawless setup imo.

well my westy is 1920x1080. the soyo's 24 inch are 1920x1200

i'm sure i could run teh soyos at 1920x1080 somehow. 1080 on all 3 = doable?

mainly i wonder if the bezels would line up and good as yours does. i don't want it like a 1 inch or 2 above or below, just somewhat lined up as nice as yours is :)
