Thanks W1retap!

That's exactly what I wanted to know!

So you have confirmed it! The 1.3 backward compatability is the issue after all! That's what I was thinking since I've been reading threads about certain things about 1.3 that might cause the issues if used with 1.2 or 1.1 hardware. Definite glitch here. Seems like Sony was going to miss their deadline if they addressed the issue and they already were late so they released the console with the stipulation that they would update the FIRMWARE to fix the issues later (which I'm sure they will do eventually). No biggie except for those of you who have PS3's right now and want to use the HDMI out. You might as well not use the HDMI input on your Westy then (until a later bios update fixes it) in case you could actually cause damage to your monitor if the signals are not being sent correctly.

Well hopefully Sony will address the issue because obviously almost anyone right now (no matter what brand monitor they are using) only has HDMI v1.2 or less since there are very few to none v1.3 sets out there.

I guess the spec isn't 100% backwards compatible after all? :) Kinda like a coin flip if your PS3 will play PS2 and PS1 titles correctly as well.

Anyways, good to know. Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to you guys by the way.

so my problem is HDMI 1.2 and 1.3

it was annoying

I don't own a ps3 (yet) but I have a question about the hdmi problem:

Has anyone tried runinng an HDMI to DVI cable between the westinghouse and the ps3? That would be HDMI end plugged into the PS3 and DVI end of the cable plugged into the westinghouse. Thats how I have my Dishnetwork HD box plugged into the westinghouse by the way (dish box's HDMI to the westy's DVI2-in, with my computer DVI to the westy's DVI1-in). If it fixed the problem it would be easy to run my dish box HDMI-to-HDMI, and swap the HDMI-to-DVI cable in order to run a PS3 HDMI-to-DVI2 input on the westy..

I'd also like to know if the westy rev 1.6 makes any difference with PS3 functionality.

Thanks in advance.

Yes that DVI cable will be perfect sideout... I dont know about performance or anything else but it will work...

as for your question elvin, it does not matter, if its the ps3 thats having the problems with the HDMI it would not matter if you run hdmi to dvi or not, as its on the ps3's software side apparently, and needs to be upgraded... maybe hardware I dont know much about it yet...

But from the little I've heard, I've heard its all on the ps3...

I'm sorry i don't think it is. Have a look on ebay, they have a store on there which ships to Europe, but you pay for it :(

HI I have a quick question please,

Is the power transformer inside the Monitor or is it along the AC cord midway, or at the wall plug?

inside.. it just looks like your normal computer psu plug with that euro style connector.

Someone who is using the included stand with their 37", how far in inches is it from the surface it is sitting on to the middle of the screen? I'm designing a desk with one of these in mind, and want to have the middle of the screen to be at eye level once put on a riser shelf, but I don't know how high or low to make the shelf.

I'm typing this on my 37" Westy that I just got hooked up. The power transformer is built into the back of the monitor.

Following these threads as well for the last six weeks so I had to pick one up today at The Great Indoors in Burbank for $799 - $40 in gift cards they gave out this morning. I finally got the DVI port on my ATI card to work and this display is just incredible. It's so big and bright, really going to take some getting used to. I played BF2142 for about an hour and it was different. I almost got motion sickness I think.

Finally decided to get the westy 37 after seeing it on Crutchfield for 999 with free shipping. I used the code so its 979 shipped and set up in my house. Crutchfield's phone service is great and im glad I got a pretty good price with a very reputable dealer. Tried to get one at shopko at 5 am but ran to the electronics department and a fight had broken out over the 3 westys that were there.

i have to call the guy cause i didnt get my coupon so, i guess he will put it on i guess.

Pretty good price? I'd say that's an understatement. $999 shipped is an incredible price.

Hey everyone,

Dam I just checked this thread and see the deal going on at Crutchfield! Free White Glove shipping -- that's usually 100 bucks by itself!

Total steal at 999/979 !! I paid >1200 w/free UPS shipping at NewEgg and thought that was a steal but this is a total blowout!! and NewEgg doesn't even have these in stock right now! OMG GET YOURS WHILE U CAN!!

I'd buy another one at this price if I actually could use a 2nd one!!!

Well Happy Holidays to all of you taking advantage! Great Monitor!

WOW....I'm like blown away on this one...

I called them about this deal and they are only doing it this weekend OR until they run out, get them while you can.

Hey guys,

Has anyone wall mounted their Westy 37"? I'm seriously considering wall mounting so I can spare even more desk space and push the monitor even further back...

I'm looking for a good quality wall mount (flat or tilt) but at a reasonable price...

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Bought the LVM-42W2 today, and I think it makes for an outstanding PC monitor.

What settings would be recommended for this monitor?

How can I get old games like Fallout 2 and Icewind Dale to display properly on this monitor?

Just ordered mine from crutchfield - you guys can expect pictures from me very soon!

Just grabbed my LVm37W3 for $975 out the door ($900 b4 tax)

I am really pleased with this monitor as I will be using it for TV AND for a home theater / gaming use.

HD looks just amazing and now I hate how SD looks. It took a bit of setting up to tweak the color and brightness and what not but it was nothing to bad. What I really like is on the remote there is an INFO button that will tell you what resolution the show your watching is.

OTA HD was in 1080i and the DVD's I watched were 480i which brings me to a very important question. I have a progressive scan Sony DVD player. Is there something I need to setup on either my DVD player or my TV to allow for 480P on the dvd's???? Thanks for any info!!

P.S. I have not hooked up my PC yet and I am just giddy at the thought of Medieval 2 on this thing!!!

For your progressive scan dvd player, hook it up with component cables to the monitor, then setup progressive scan output on the DVD player in its menu.

I still can't decide whether or not to get this. Just worried about how it will feel being so large and sitting close to it on a desk. I've already seen all the pics in this thread, but if anyone has any more that would be great.

gotta LOVE crutchfield. I placed my order at 3pm yesterday and called today to apply the coupon code for -20.00!

GOtta LOVE THEM AT CRUTCHFIELD!

Your NUTS to not jump on this deal!!!
